Just did this upgrade today!! Holy crap you were right, such night and day difference!! Even added some rubber washers to help with vibration and friction tape on the short side to help it hold. Thing is going nowhere hahah. Huge upgrade to quality

I have upgraded my entire stereo system in my 2016 Lexus IS300 Fsport. I kept the factory radio upfront. I installed a Helix DSP to get the factory speaker signals to my amps. I can send you some photos in the near future as I currently blew an amp and have to replace it. I’ll take photos then.
Did you bypass factory infotainment. Media source goes straight to the helix via optical or coax or Bluetooth or usb with hd expansion. Helix is a good dsp it’s the only one that can run centers with out ruining soundstage. Look at the algorithm helix uses for centers. It’s not just summing L&R If you use factory signals. Helix can’t restore signals filtered out by oem amp. Big cut off on low pass of mid bass in doors and factory sub as well as the mid range of dash upper frequencies and both lower and upper frequencies of tweeter in dash. Factory amp has hi pass and low pass filters running on every Chanel

It should be similar! Someone with a 2015 explained that their connector is slightly different. So you can use the same speaker, but maybe try to find the proper connector… or just try the one I linked 😅.
Hey man how are these JBL Dash speakers holding up for you months later? I’ve been looking to do this installation but read that the stock Ohm rating for these Lexus dash speakers are between 4-5, where these JBL’s are 3 ohms. Basically Making the Lexus amp work harder. Where did you get the plug in adapter for the center speaker (part number too)? I replaced front doors, rear doors, and added a powered sub. I left the center channel alone since it is weird 5 ohms vs. 4ohms for every other speaker.
I finally changed my center channel speaker with Hertz deici 87.3. What a huge difference in sound quality over stock.. Thabk for your diy. It was very informative

Don't do it, these work well because the rms is low enough to match the stock amplifier. If you get higher wattage it will sound like shit, unless you get a more powerful aftermarket amp to power them.
I have a 2015 IS-250 F sport, I was interested in this but I think in if you are like me play music in high volume due to the imperfect fitment of the speakers it will rattle. please let me know if it does.

The OEM is 3.5”, and 4” can be fit with slight modification. But, I’d rather have the more plug and play 3.5” one. Also, I’ve heard of people using 3.75” speakers, which is an odd size 😅.
So the fronts now play slightly louder after the upgrade? Some sensitivity differences I suppose.. By the way... Do you find any big difference in sound quality? Always thought the stock dash speakers sounded decently clear ...
I say this because the capacitor and inductor on the stock speaker look significantly more substantial than the new JBLs you put in . . . Actually I don't even see an inductor on the JBL? Also - the JBLs have to match sensitivity (loudness) of the woofer in the door..otherwise the treble might be overly boosted at the expense of mids / low mids. . . Just curious . ..

@@martinvargas4523 i notiiced the same thing with aftermarket speakers. I think its cause Mark Levinson system requires 8ohm speakers and not 4ohm which seems to be the industry standard.

Hello from France. I Just follow you on IG. Thank you for the video. Today I have my order from Amazon, two JBL 322F for the side and two stage 2 424 for the middle. I guess that I may have to modify the center one because it's not 10cm but 13cm, some people have fitted some 13 so I'll tried. Your adaptators are note selled anymore or not selled in Amazon France, I have founded some on AE. They come right now while I was typing my message lol. I will install all this week and be back for who is interested 😊

So, I have now JBL 322F for the side and one 41f on the center. The 41f have almost the same size than the hole but it fit and I have putted some washers to fit. Sound is much better, Just have to put the sound more on front with the sound menu.

im running a 3.7" hybrid audio wideband in the stock location. didn't have to trim any of the car itself. but i did make my own brackets to mount it to the stock screw holes.
@@_mattayooosorry i completely 4got 2 update…i bought Focal ACX 100…they are a 4” speaker, very snug fit but with a little patience, even pressure (kind of wedged in stock location with no modding) u can use the bracket holes on speaker and bolt it in stock location and it is a night and day difference in sound

See this is why I love this channel. I have the 2014 is250 fsport the sound is adequate or I’ve just been with it so long maybe I’ve convinced myself to leave the speakers alone. You said this was a night and day change..so you can tell a drastic difference from your previous speakers ? It was worth it?
@@Grey3ISI figured out the issue it appears I was delivered some faulty ones after take a close look at the ones I received and looking at your video and online the adapter piece isn’t even the same 😭
Did you change the amp or bypass it. The Lexus premium package uses pioneer speakers and amp. While, Mark Levinson uses mark levinson. Lexus also did something else for Bothe factory pioneer and mark levinson they have some coding on amp where they are running low pass and hi pass filters per channel out this is good for the mark levinson or pioneer. But extremely irritating if you are going to run other speakers as they will be handicapped by the oem amps hi pass and low pass filter limiting the frequency. Even when using a Jl fix before summing signal for dsp and amp. Dosnt work. Feel free to look at Lexus forums. Only solution I have found is input selected is not the factory infotainment. Input is direct from phone or dap to dsp via Spdif or Toslink or USB OTG or Bluetooth aptx of dsp this will allow the factory amp to be bypassed. If you run anything from factory amp in trunk just know the sound is handicapped as they are not being fed the full signal of music.
I'm guessing this is a Non Mark Levinson system ? I've got ML in my '14 IS350 and switched the end speakers on the dash. Barely even hear them. Mainly only hear the dash center. I replaced all speakers with Rockford Fosgate, minus the dash center. And the dash center is all I really hear. Stereo shop said I have to add an aftermarket Amp and DSP to get new speakers to function properly. Then my head unit went out. So now got now music. Smh.
@@Grey3IS yup. Spent $1,600 for a DSP and Amp and wiring. Then head unit went out 4 days before my appointment. Smh. And lexus wants $3,200 for a new one. installed. Smh.
@@martinvargas4523 you are giving me nightmares. I just paid $850 to repair my ML amp. The GPS is not working, I tried a different antenna and it is still no good. I hope my head unit isn't on the way out. 2014 IS350 FSport.
@@jokoko1969 the head unit going out is a common thing. I see it almost weekly on the Lexus pages on fb. It sucks. Hopefully yours isn't going out. But if its loading then shutting off, then on and off and on and off. Its the head unit. The backup camera will still work. But nothing else will.
It’s a great easy and cheap upgrade for the god awful base system in the 3is. I honestly can’t believe how much of a downgrade it is from the base 2is audio system. If you’re planning on upgrading the door speakers next to aftermarket you will need sak132 mounting adapters with Metra 72-8104 wiring adapters. I’ll be doing a full sound system soon with AMP + DSP, Sub, and all speakers.
Had two 12’s with a ported box before I installed my bags! Had to remove them for my trunk set-up. Might stick a single 10 or 12 in there someday. Something that doesn’t take up too much more trunk room. Don’t have much left 😅. But makes sense to do since all of my wiring is still ran for it!

did you use a set of components or coaxial speakers for the front doors? Wondering on where to mount the tweeters if you went that route.

You can most likely replicate this for the 2IS, but something will definitely be different. Like the connector, it’s probably a style.

Great video as usual…hard to tell but looks like there is room for a 4” speaker, do you think they would fit without trimming?
From what I have seen, it doesn’t fit without trimming. Could be worth a try!
im running a 3.7" hybrid audio wideband in the stock location. didn't have to trim any of the car itself. but i did make my own brackets to mount it to the stock screw holes.

@@_mattayooosorry i completely 4got 2 update…i bought Focal ACX 100…they are a 4” speaker, very snug fit but with a little patience, even pressure (kind of wedged in stock location with no modding) u can use the bracket holes on speaker and bolt it in stock location and it is a night and day difference in sound

You can give it a shot! I was explained to that 4” wouldn’t work and would need modifications. But maybe they were wrong or tried a weird 4” speaker.

See this is why I love this channel. I have the 2014 is250 fsport the sound is adequate or I’ve just been with it so long maybe I’ve convinced myself to leave the speakers alone. You said this was a night and day change..so you can tell a drastic difference from your previous speakers ? It was worth it?

@@Grey3ISI figured out the issue it appears I was delivered some faulty ones after take a close look at the ones I received and looking at your video and online the adapter piece isn’t even the same 😭
Did you change the amp or bypass it. The Lexus premium package uses pioneer speakers and amp. While, Mark Levinson uses mark levinson. Lexus also did something else for Bothe factory pioneer and mark levinson they have some coding on amp where they are running low pass and hi pass filters per channel out this is good for the mark levinson or pioneer. But extremely irritating if you are going to run other speakers as they will be handicapped by the oem amps hi pass and low pass filter limiting the frequency. Even when using a Jl fix before summing signal for dsp and amp. Dosnt work. Feel free to look at Lexus forums. Only solution I have found is input selected is not the factory infotainment. Input is direct from phone or dap to dsp via Spdif or Toslink or USB OTG or Bluetooth aptx of dsp this will allow the factory amp to be bypassed.
If you run anything from factory amp in trunk just know the sound is handicapped as they are not being fed the full signal of music.
I'm guessing this is a Non Mark Levinson system ? I've got ML in my '14 IS350 and switched the end speakers on the dash. Barely even hear them. Mainly only hear the dash center. I replaced all speakers with Rockford Fosgate, minus the dash center. And the dash center is all I really hear. Stereo shop said I have to add an aftermarket Amp and DSP to get new speakers to function properly. Then my head unit went out. So now got now music. Smh.

@@Grey3IS yup. Spent $1,600 for a DSP and Amp and wiring. Then head unit went out 4 days before my appointment. Smh. And lexus wants $3,200 for a new one. installed. Smh.
@@martinvargas4523 you are giving me nightmares. I just paid $850 to repair my ML amp. The GPS is not working, I tried a different antenna and it is still no good. I hope my head unit isn't on the way out. 2014 IS350 FSport.
@@jokoko1969 the head unit going out is a common thing. I see it almost weekly on the Lexus pages on fb. It sucks. Hopefully yours isn't going out. But if its loading then shutting off, then on and off and on and off. Its the head unit. The backup camera will still work. But nothing else will.

It’s a great easy and cheap upgrade for the god awful base system in the 3is. I honestly can’t believe how much of a downgrade it is from the base 2is audio system.
If you’re planning on upgrading the door speakers next to aftermarket you will need sak132 mounting adapters with Metra 72-8104 wiring adapters. I’ll be doing a full sound system soon with AMP + DSP, Sub, and all speakers.

Had two 12’s with a ported box before I installed my bags! Had to remove them for my trunk set-up.
Might stick a single 10 or 12 in there someday. Something that doesn’t take up too much more trunk room. Don’t have much left 😅.
But makes sense to do since all of my wiring is still ran for it!
