    A fine job ! And fine poetic license too.
    The way that song came about.....We had started this "band" ,but had no songs . We had a photo shoot and I started to play Jesse James .....so we ran with it, the Bushwhacker theme
    On the way to our 1st gig in Tejas, Jimbo had a book about Jesse's immediate postwar "career" . The book contained one of the dead Anderson photos...you know, the kind of thing you can't look away from . I had been drinkin in some Dock Boggs as well. By the time we got to Dallas, I had that song together for the gig . Little known trivia, when we recorded it , Jimbo played percussion on the jawbone of an ass ....to my knowledge ,this is the only known recording of such .
    Cheers
    AYH

    I think your version is much better than the South Memphis String Band. Where you place the emphasis within the rhythm gives the tune a bit of underlying menace. • @sterlingprice5100
      @sterlingprice5100 3 роки тому +1

      @@sartainja , Bloody Bill was a hillbilly who came out of the woods with blood in his eyes, blood in his eyes to distribute retribution against any and every Yankee he could put in his sights. A lot of people forget that while the Union was waging their moral war to end slavery, they sacked a lot of farms and murdered a lot of innocent non-slave owning civilians of the Southern states in the process. West of the Mississippi in Missouri, guerrilla soldiers like Bloody Bill Anderson and William Quantrill put the fear of God, and put the hurt on the Union big time. Setting things right.
      Only one Southern General refused to surrender, and never did. He is a hero in Southern Missouri along with Anderson and Quantrill. Jesse James too.

If you listen to Alvin Youngblood Hart sing Bloody Bill Anderson" I think the tuning and melody I think he is in gDGAD or f#DGAD or f#DF#AD--not sure--and the melody is similar to "Drunkard's Lone Child." Since I have already been singing that old cowboy song to that melody for years I just went ahead and put "Bloody Bill" to it. Sounds awesome to me and I hope Hart approves!
