- Luciano Bove was born in Nocera Inferiore in 1963. At the age of 19 he moved to California where he started his adventure to become a car designer. In 1989, he received his Bachelor Degree in Human Science in the field of Transportation Design at the Pasadena Art Center College of Design. In 1989 he started to work at the FIAT Design Center where he gained 12 years of incredible
experience (the Fiat Seicento design & management 1995/98 & Fiat Stilo management 1998/99).
In 2000 he moved to France and became the Senior Design Manager at Renault Technocentre in
Guyancourt where he is still working today as a R&D Design Manager.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. He forgot to mention the Luck! being in right place at the right time, being lucky enough to get a chance. Many good students don't get any opportunities, many reasons behind it. It's not about hard work only, it's a lot about luck and connections.
+Hammond EZ Which is why you go to a school like Art Center College of Design (though it hasn't been the same as it was 10 years ago). Although nothing in life is guaranteed, going to to a top design school will increase your chances in getting a job with a company. You're right, luck is a factor but shouldn't be sole force behind our lives.

Really there are lacks, out of studio who love cars who love designing who has skill. But at the end its all about his fortune.
While I was in university, it was a common quote that joining the cardesign community and scoring a job was like being a footballer. You need skill, talent, balls, and connections. They were 120% correct. XD For all new grads and soon to be grad. Best of luck!! :)

Both families always ask me 4 advice
I tell myself everyday or when being scrutinized: “the world just hasn’t seen me yet”. I get there’s a lot of people who has their own style but it’s more of what you can bring to the company. I don’t see Lamborghini or Ferrari just become famous for nothing! It’s their design with engineering that sells. All about the product( i guess this is a industrialist perspective).

Hi my son likes to design cars but he doesn 't like to study at all what should i do...? Without a degree he can not get a good job in this field
+kushwinder singh (bunty) Without a degree, he is not going to have a design job at all. This study is very different, it's not about hitting the books and doing exams, it's very physical, lots of drawing and sleepless nights working on models. If you're not absolute passionate about this work, you simply can't survive the super competitive school time.
that is wrong in my opinion go to a design school yes he will have to work for it but he has to be good.
I can't say he is wrong. A lot of my art center classmates were great at design but hated academics. I've done regular college before studying car design and try to forget how much regular college wasted my time.

Hi you can check my videos to have few answers about it. Anyway what is important are: your talent level and passion plus your skills. You need a Transportation Design school and get a bachelor in car design. This is the best not easy way to become a cardesigner.

not alot
The salary is something I do not like to talk about because this discipline is eally about passion and the money come after. However, at the beginning you have a normal entry salary more or less like an engineer...with the time and career it can change for better and depending the responsabilities it can become interesting. Not easy and not fast.
