    A lot of people are commenting on how these guys are talking like their audience are in Elementary level ... that's the whole point. Especially right now when people are staying home for obvious reasons (social distancing, etc.)
    If you guys want to go watch a complex UA-cam video about being a firefighter such as the decon. process they go through after being exposed to carcinogens, feel free to look that stuff up.
    From my understanding this video's primarily for basic-education for the general public, some may have a learning disability and others might not.

      I am a European firefighter myself and just wanted an entertaining and informative video on SMFR hose diameters (since I believe you even got the 2 1/2's straight from Europe), crosslays, horizontal standpipes, etc.
      I love most of their videos, many even require basic knowledge of firefighting to understand them completely, especially if they leave the live radio traffic in.
      This one I am afraid is just painful to watch as a "normal" person.
      Of course I unterstand that this videos are meant as public education for everybody, but what is the purpose if the other 95% can't/dont want to watch it anymore?

    • @EricWhiteTheGamer
      @EricWhiteTheGamer 4 роки тому

      He is not the normal person that talks... and most people that watch are people that know and understand the fire department this is more made for preschool or or young elementary school... please redo with the normal people talking normal like the other videos!!!

      I never heard of 2.5" hoses coming from Europe either. I never see anyone use them over there for anything other than supply lines. And what really makes me wonder and confused is why those Russian guys that always post helmet camera videos don't use 2.5" or 3" hoses on their fires. It's like they'd rather struggle with the 1.5" garden hose for some reason. It is here in the US too.

  • @derKarl_stp

    I love the fact that we have Storz couplings on all our lines, no matter if suction side or nozzle side... this is why we have mostly double doughnut roll hoses on our trucks in Austria (and only some preconnects in hose carrying baskets)
    makes individual lays and lengths more easily and you don't need to watch which end of the hose you got right now... the only thing thats different... the couplings are wider than your screw connections and especially on the smaller lines this can cause issues
    but still enjoy watching you do your hose lays in the videos

    It's interesting to see how things are done differently across the world. Here in Denmark I haven't seen any preconnect hoses, we usually use hosereels for carfires and trashfires and also roomfires. If we need more water, we lay out hoses and use distributers(don't know a better word for it) where one B hose 75mm diameter/600 l/m goes in and you can connect three C hose 42 or 52mm diameter/200 l/m to it. Here we also only use storz couplings on hoses and only thread on some hydrants.The most common amount of outlets on an engine is about four with a B coupling on.

    • @Fejfel
      @Fejfel 4 роки тому

      Just got updated, on my newer engines there's only two outlets with B coupling

    • @Hurrycane-j
      @Hurrycane-j 2 роки тому

      @@Fejfel same here in Germany. Depending on the size of the engine its 2 B outlets on smaller ones and 4 on the bigger ones and some of them have a premix for foam. Usual fire hydrants have 2 B couplings. very few with A storz, thats nearly 5". but we dont have A hoses anyway. only drain hoses.

    • @mikemaldonado39
      @mikemaldonado39 4 роки тому +1

      Hec Tic inside when your putting water on the fire. Dragging that charged hose isn’t light, so having someone dragging that hose and giving you that push at the same time helps. It also helps if the water pressure coming out of the nozzle becomes to much for you to handle it, dragging that hose and controlling it is somewhat physically demanding depending on your size and sometimes the engineer will give you to many GPM for you to handle (it does happen sometime), so leaning on your fellow firefighter can help you with the back pressure.

    • @calmcculloch6038
      @calmcculloch6038 4 роки тому +2

      Push means Katie wants to move and flow in the two-person ‘crooked lean’ position that they use. The best time to use the ‘push’ is when you are inside a home hallway and you are trying to cool the hallway while advancing to the fire room. It is dangerous to not flow if there are hot gases overhead because they could ignite. Smoke is highly flammable. The push beats back the fire and hot gases while getting you in a good position to put water directly onto the fire. Hope this helps HecTic

      1500 gallons? That's almost 5700 litre in non-retarded units. I can't imagine a single scenario where I'd need that much water on one apparatus. °_°
      But then again, we're a relatively urban department and have the (for european cities) standard quint system. Most of the time we'd rather run a 2 km (1.24 miles) supplyline or have two tenders shuttling than parking a big apparatus with that much water right at the front. I guess it just depends on your system, your environment and your training.
