    This is by far the best tutorial for the garter stitch border! I was about to give up and throw the loom away! I'm glad I gave it one more try before I gave up completely. I can knit, crochet, and quilt, but loom knitting was kicking my backside hard! My side borders were bowing like they were too short for the body of the afghan. I have the KB S loom. Thank you!

    Hello I just wanted to thank you for your video and for sharing the knowledge you have on loom knitting and this beautiful garter stitch boarder. I am very new beginner at loom knitting and I really enjoy it but finding videos that have someone who really understands the stitches, how to use them, takes their time to explain every detail like you have, well there are not many so it was a pleasant surprise to find your video I have absolutely learned so much from your one video and over the last few weeks I have watched a dozen or so and have been piecing information together. This was very well explained, thank you. I’ve had KB looms for many years and I’ve barely made anything other than a couple scarfs, and not really happy with the results.they were all double knit, is that why they haven’t curled? I saw on Facebook someone’s blanket that impressed me to want to make a lap/throw blanket and was referred to your garter stitch video. So I will try this stitch on my smaller loom for practice and with determination and this video, am confident it will work. Practice makes perfect. Again thank you

    Can I do a garter ridge border and owl eye in the middle? If so, would I skip the turning pegs when doing owl eye?

    • @lschue
      @lschue  11 місяців тому +1

      If your doing a Garter Border you still need the turning pegs. After you do your border, do a uknit on the next peg.. then start doing your owl eye stitch. Then on the other end after you knit off your last owl eye stitch do a uk on the last peg before the border, then finish your border. Why? Because owl eye is really 2 knit offs on each peg. So to keep everything even and in shape you need to do the uk before and after. If you need farther instructions please DM me anytime. Thank you!

    How do you know how many rows and stitches to do? For example you did 4 garter rows and 4 purl stitches to create the side border. Is that number the same regardless of the size of the piece?

    • @lschue
      @lschue  Рік тому +1

      Almost all my blankets, regardless of size or yarn used, I use 5 pegs on each side. 1 for turning and 4 peg border. Then my starting garter is 8 rows (4 garter ridges) and my ending border is 8 rows (4 garter ridges). Just like I did in this video. For smaller things like table runners and scarves I sometimes just use 4 pegs which is 1 peg for turning and 3 pegs for border.

    • @lschue

    • @lschue
      @lschue  3 місяці тому

      I love the large round loom I’m using. It makes Throw blankets 50” wide by as long as you want them. I can even just use less pegs for baby blankets on the same loom. This loom is 7/16” gauge and uses 1 strand of #4 yarn. You can also use a #5 yarn if you want a heavier blanket. I prop one end on my lap and the other end on my foot stool and its very easy to use. If you send me a message thru messenger I can send you a video of how that looks.
