Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is a remake of the original Super Mario Bros. with some new game modes, including a challenge mode where coins and time remaining are crucial to gaining the target score and a race mode where Mario competes against Boo to reach each level's finish flag pole first. While this mode looks like a direct port of the NES game, there are different physics and glitches, making optimizing Deluxe a very different task.
This run by KingKappa ( tasvideos.org/... ) is a roughly 65 frame improvement over the previous publication ( tasvideos.org/... ).
There is also a run of the "You vs. Boo ( tasvideos.org/... )" mode.

I wonder what makes this power-up route too difficulty for RTA runs. People get the very first Mushroom and the first Fire Flower underground... But, like, it doesn't seem *that* hard to get that second Fire Flower underground and ditch the first, slower Mushroom?

By not getting the mushroom in 1-1 the piranha plants become much harder since you have a much smaller window to do pipe jumps (sometimes they’re straight up impossible)
has anyone made an 'all* stickers' TAS of this game?
I believe The KDK7 made a “100%” TAS about twelve years ago. It’s probably pretty outdated at this point but I’m pretty sure it’s the only version that exists

Im no expert but... Does this vary a lot from NES version? Im thinking maybe lakitu actually does throw spikes?
This version has tons of differences from the nes version. The biggest ones here are that the 4-2 wrong warp doesn’t work and loading times/level transitions are much faster

It's good, but not the only good one
Compared to 1989's Super Mario Land, SMB Deluxe isn't all that great thanks entirely to the screen crunch. This isn't helped by the fact that SMB Deluxe comes bundled with SMB2J. Little wonder the super mario land series only lasted for two games.
I don't know, the knockoff one I played only crashed twice!
