      Dominicans dress nice because there a lot of poverty in DR? does that even make sense to you? theres a lot of poverty in Detroit and non of those Mofos dress nice, and we're comparing the riches country on the planet to a small Island, so no your observation about my country is way off! could it more be a cultural thing? does it have anything to do with family values? the better question would be is why do people in the riches country on earth don't care about how they look in public.

    Thank you for your videos... I'm now a subscriber. I spent a summer in -- 3 months -- in the DR about 6 years ago and experienced much of what you're talking about. I'm a carmel brown sista that tans very dark so I definitely detected some reaction to my skin color when I got darker, however, because I'm from the U.S. I didn't get the discrimination that someone from the DR may have gotten. I was able to interact with both Dominicans and expats and it was so interesting hearing their views on Haitians, Indios, Europeans, etc. -- and from the expat side, hearing their views on Dominicans.

    The discrimination against Haitians is not about the skin color. It's the history of the two countries and culture.

      On the surface that's true. However in the end it really IS a skin color issue to a degree. Haiti overthrew their government and abolished slavery so that's where the hate really stems from. After abolishing slavery Haiti conquered the entire island and Santo Domingo with the intent of abolishing slavery island wide which caused France other European nations and even the United States (who helped Trujillo come to power by the way) to shut off all trade and commerce with Haiti and the French government basically charged Haiti for their independence. The root of all of this is racism because Haitian slaves were the only ones who were successful in abolishing slavery and establishing a black government. Something that even Africans in the U.S. never achieved. So even though history and culture is a more convenient cover up the root of all this is old fashion racism white supremacy and the hatred of anything African and black.

      no what's BS is your brainwashed Trujillo inspired backwards ignorance uneducated Dominican view of the history and failure to understand the complete history behind your island. I suggest you start by reading a book but being you only managed to write a two letter response to my previous comment that might be asking to much of you.

      Dominicans always say the Haitians are taking their jobs, and the Dominicans attack them. No word is said when the Chinese are slowly coming in and taking over.🤔🤔🤔.. Last time I was there, I only saw Haitians cutting the grass at the airport with a freaking machete.. please tell me which Dominican will do that... Or better yet, cut the sugarcanes... Nope, not one Dominican. I know a fairly dark skin Dominican, and she REFUSED to say she is black. Why is there soooooo much hate, for been dark in DR... Be Blessed of who you are. Coming from a Dominican. 🇩🇴

    The hair isn't a prejudice. I have very thick natural hair, but it is a lot easier to keep my hair clean if I blow dry it. It is easier to manage it also. I love my curls, and I'm proud of being mixed; It is just more practical for me to wear my hair straight. This doesn't mean dominicans are trying to hide who they are. You don't know how painful is for a girl to try to brush her curly hair. This is why some african americans also straighten their hair; it is not because of prejudice.

      +The King you have some serious problems.

    • @imgoldbi15
      @imgoldbi15 9 років тому +2

      +The King That is just my opinion, and I didn't use any bad word nor did I try to offend anyone here. Why would you go to a country just to criticize its culture. everyone sees things differently. I have lived in 4 different countries, and even though I have had some bad experiences with some people who don't like foreigners, I would never make a video talking bad about the entire countries. Furthermore, people have the right to do whatever they want to do with their hair. We call that respect to the individual. I have no problem with people wearing curly hair or even shaving their heads, but I prefer wearing mine straight. That's it. I am not denying anything. It's just more practical to me. Saying "Bullshit" to someones opinion without giving reasons why you think it is a bs is not a good argument. indeed, it is not an argument at all.

      +Isleida Morillo people have a right to make a video giving their opinion about places they have been.

    • @imgoldbi15
      @imgoldbi15 8 років тому

      The King I understand people have the right to give their opinions, but those people have to understand that different cultures have different lifestyles and different ways of viewing things. They were raised differently. I'm no saying that people cannot comment on the fact that most dominican women prefer wearing their hair straight. However, he says that women cannot work at a bank if they don't have straight hair, and that's not true. How to wear their hair is a matter of personal choice. There are plenty of dominican women who prefer wearing their natural curly hair, and they can work at the bank or anywhere else. The ones who straighten their hair do it because it might be more manageable for them to wear it that way, not because they are denying who they are.

    I'm 100% Dominican and I'm really light in skin color ... My whole family is white with colored eyes and blonde hair and we're all Dominican. I don't understand why people think that Dominicans are only tanned to dark skinned when my country is full of different skin tones.

      The majority of Dominicans are black or biracial, but ofc we do have our fully white people and small percentage of Asian immigrants
