Same would apply to Prometheus in God of War 2. Interesting detail about Hecatonchires is that his eyes do not move at all. That implies he is not there at all. That is just his body doing the bidding of Furies.
Kratos did that thing a favor. Can't even scream as his body is being mutilated. Pure torture. Absolutely amazing level design, probably the most inventive I've ever seen.
I remember showing this to my dad and he was glued to the seat like he was watching a movie. Id already beaten it once so I was able to almost glide through it and make a seamless experience for him.

I agree with you in a sense, but live action adaptations of video games have a bad habit of not panning out well recently. Take what they tried with Halo and Borderlands for example.

I think Kratos killing Aegeon was for the better. He was alive when they built buildings on his body and when he was infected and transformed by the parasites, it was just another layer of pain for him. So Kratos pulling a Prometheus on him was kinda better

Also the visual design of Aegaeon is so different compared to anything I've personally seen. A giant being with 100 arms having a prison built in and around it and also having parasites coming out of its hands is just mind blowing to me. Whoever came up with the design of it did an amazing job.
Agreed, even as I learn 3D modelling my love of this horrific boss and it's design keeps growing. Every now and then I make a new Hecetonchires to mark my progress to success, trying to keep the polycount as low as possible while making as many arms as possible is a fun challenge. One day I hope to make something a fraction as beautiful and horrifying as this design.

i don't know how they did this on ps3, but the way light partially shines through and diffuses in shin and bones is gorgeous! (look at 6:39 to see what I mean)

The Hecatonchires is supposed to be stronger than all titans combined. Apparently the blood oath they swore to Zeus was during the Titanomachy, they helped overthrow the titans and they were responsible for safe-guarding Tartarus. There were three of them in Greek Mythology, all of them sons of Gaia.

Zeus, the youngest son of Kronos, went to them eventually and promised them freedom in exchange for fighting against the Titans on the side of the Gods. Two of them ended up being the new guards/masters of Tartarus, and one of them married Poseidon’s daughter and settled in a palace under the sea.

God, this boss is the pure definition of Body horror. The way his eyes move in absolute horror ñ at 10:25 knowing he is unable to do anything about his fate really makes me feel uneasy.
I think Chains of Olympus (the one in which Kratos kills Persephone and Charon) is chronologically first and even that happens after he become Ares' henchman and killed his family. This happens just before God of War (the first).
