- Luang Prabang is now my favorite place in Laos and one of my top 5 in South East Asia. I am blown away by the nature, the waterfalls, the temples, the vibe... everything was just amazing!
And meeting Thierry, Rodolph and John was the cherry on the cake.

Every time I travel to Laos, I always donate money to schools. So they can afford to buy computers, school supplies, and food. It is the right thing to do to help the less fortunate country.

Instead of donating money to the school directly , if you have time , it’s best you buy the item and donate to the children while you are there .
It makes them lazy.

I am a native Luangprabang citizen. In totally, you visited many places.
Anyways, there are more things to visit and do such as:
1. Alms giving to monks before sunrise (early morning)
2. Old castle of Lao king (just in front of the night market that you bought souvenirs)
3. Some Lao traditional ethnics Musium near by where you stayed (small traditional)
4. Cruising (along Maekong river, high recommend)
5. Phousi stupa ( where you can see the overview of Luangprabang provincial city, i recommend to go this place before Sunset-Sunrise, you can take beautiful pictures there, you missed this it means you not arrived Luangprabang 😃)

Laos, then part of French Indochina (and defended by Vichy French troops, including local colonial troops) was attacked and occupied by the Thai army in January 1941 during the Franco-Thai War that ended later that month. Resistance from the Vichy French defenders was reportedly minimal, and the Thai's gained control of the territory without much opposition. A large number of French Foreign Legion troops, taken prisoner during the invasion of Laos by the Thais, refused to be repatriated at the end of the war and decided to settle down in Thailand. Those French French Foreign Legion troops apparently recognized the benefits of Laotian living! Fun Fact: Vientiane was bombed by the Thai air force during the Franco-Thai War.
I have been to Luang Prabang but 20 years ago.. and wow it looks soo different to what I remember.. what I remember was a village sort of feel - no developed roads or shops/restaurants just little shacks for restaurants

I visited Luang Prabang back in 1973 and it was amazing then despite the war being fought out of town. Great pictures Gabi, even though you should have stayed longer

I have been to Luang Prabang before Covid time, it s such a magic place, so beautiful & peaceful…! Unfortunately there s crowded with tourists & especially Chinese tourists on the famous waterfall with jade color water… a big trafic jam on the way going to the waterfall, I was stuck in traffic jam for nearly 2 hours…it s just insane! You re very lucky Gabi because it s not many tourists now…! The Laos foods in Luang Prabang are the best in South East Asia plus Vietnamese foods…! The MUST to visit this place..

I was completely blown away from your video cycling around in this incredibly beautiful town. We are flying to Bangkok on Wednesday 11th for a two months walkabout in Thailand. Fabulous video of Luang Prabang. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures! In the warmer weather the pools of the Kiang Si falls are filled with families and tourists picnicking and swimming in the pools. Also, the bear sanctuary is a rescue center for bears that have been used for bile farming.

I motorbiked northern Laos with my dad in 2013 when I was 11 and loved Luang Prabang so much we stayed for 3 weeks. I love how I can feel like I am there when I watch your videos and I really appreciate you filming your experience. I am excited to be able to head back there in May and see things from a different perspective!
As someone mentioned in a comment they have some good organizations working on providing different educational resources. I fundraised for big brother mouse back in 2011 at my school and was able to go with the organization to give a school a “book party” which was a very fun experience

Yes Luang Prabang really nice. Was there for a week more than 20 years ago. Wow the place has changed. But nicely. Then most women lao wear the long sarung type skirt. Colourful. I had a foot massage as well. Loved their French banana thin pancakes. And French croissant. Many used to still understand French. From the French colonial time.
