Finally, a DELL Gaming Laptop that doesnt look like it came straight out of star wars.
+Exotik My picture
I've seen you on so many comment in videos dude
+Reshy M8 I get around
960m............ Nope.
+Exotik now get that message to ASUS please
I'm still using this in 2019. I have the i7 model and upgraded to 16gb of RAM and bought an SSD to use as my boot drive and it's still going strong! Great laptop for the price!
Me 2 same Config. No lag with SSDs. Why need another if its still going strong
Rudy Visuals have you tried streaming with it? I’ve got the same config and looking for others who have used OBS/Streamlabs with it
all we have some hinge problem right?
@@kediyeyolgosterenadam5245 your right
@@kediyeyolgosterenadam5245 my power socket just popped out because of it. so to run it I had to dremel out a hole in the back panel and run the power socket out externally, this computer is terrible.
This laptop is $800USD
SOMEHOW, they decided to make it £800GBP as well?
Does someone need to tell Dell how to convert currency or...?
I know there is pc that is 800 USD and 1600 CAD
hey man. im in the same boat as you, with us in the UK gettikg screwed over here by dell.
if you were to take a guess, how much do you think it will cost for Christmas/Black Friday.. im hoping (as it went down to £699 last year) that it will be around £599 or so. opinions?
Does Dell offer the i5 model in the UK?
Here in Germany the Dell 7559 starts at 1099€....
(Because the decided to put an i7 into an budget Gaming laptop)
Otherwise this Notebook looks awesome in every aspect, the large battery, upgradebility, design and so on....
In the UK they don't sell the i5 version for some reason on the dell website, but the i7 version costs £800 which is a slightly better deal.
+Tinkie Winkie how much do you think the £800 price tag for the i7 version will come down to at black friday? and when do the new 1000 series gpu's launch?
I'm still a user of the Dell Inspiron 15 7559, who's still using it?😋
I got a desktop now but it works wonders as my laptop
i will escape soon
Should i get the 7567 or 7559 in 2024?
I LITERALLY bought this 2 weeks ago and couldn't find many reviews... great timing haha. Typing on it right now, can confirm it's great for 800 bucks
+Duvangrgata B. (Duvangrgata1) me too!
im worried about the hard drive since the website says that its 5400rpm, is it? I have heard horror stories about how slow they are. is it a sshd? is it replaceable?
+BritishActionGamer 5400RPM Drives aren't as slow as you may think. Yeah, they're slower than anything else you'll encounter, but for literally $80 you can get a 7200RPM 1TB Drive.
BritishActionGamer I got mine from amazon with a 250GB m.2 ssd,still 800 bucks
+BritishActionGamer yes it is an sshd and it is replaceable. And you can add a m.2 ssd for more storage.
adele gaming laptop
did you know a dell can sing?
very clever
what the fuck is a "adele gaming laptop"? weird dude
The good thing is the laptop is not called 'hello'.
Are you a 10 year old? Going outside fits for you than watching youtube.
This is a great laptop, but If you do get it the first ting you need to do is manually update every single driver, because out of the box this thing is bug city. After you complete that though it is an awesome device. There is even a driver to fix the touch pad.
Is there a way to check if they're up to date
+Chewie i also want to know this
Would you mind stating how to update all the drivers please? I just got this laptop and I wanna make sure it runs like it should. Thanks :)
.
(waiting for response for the questions before)
Waiting
In my experience, the hinge gets very loose after a year or two. I love the trackpad, it's super precise and feels good to run my finger across it. The speakers are also super nice. The underside subwoofer and loud sound bar is way better than most laptops I've used.
ua-cam.com/video/1C64RKmAca0/v-deo.html . Here is the fix for it.
"Value gaming laptop" - Linus
It's $800 dollars, $800 dollars for a laptop! This is not 'value' in any way...
Yeah for your broke ass bro.
+BroMM Value is how much you get for your money, not how much money you spend.
LinusTechTips Well said Linus(or who so ever writes this)
+BroMM Gaming Laptop mate not laptop this is a "GAMING LAPTOP"
+BroMM Gaming Laptop mate not laptop this is a "GAMING LAPTOP"
I really should head off to bed...but oh well. LinusTechTips is worth it
haha
video uploaded just now but 2 hours ago you commented?
+Hussein J. i wish i was here 2 hours here before everyone else
bro @ 10:00?
+obama8mychickenz try 12:30
4 years later, still going strong!!
Me too. The only problem is the display has white spot defect but its okay for me because it isnt so noticeable.
Haha..I have the i7 variant of this machine to this very day. Totally worth the price. Can still handle everyday tasks pretty well. Have been using it for some light CAD work and to run small simulations. Even though I couldn’t currently play big titles but I can still play things like CSGO smoothly with this laptop...planning to put in an SSD (HDD alone is super-slow) and add some RAM...This baby has served me for years...wouldn’t go for a new laptop while this machine is still good for everyday use...
800$ oh my god. My dream
Trịnh Duy Khoa just need 799$ more to buy it
+z8_GND_5296 lol i have no money
it's 700 on amazon now, but it comes with a 256 gb m.2 ssd instead of a tb
on Slickdeals there is one that shows the i7 version for $686 with a coupon. I don't have the coupon on top of my head but check it out quick
price has dropped again, to 660 for the i5/256gb ssd
This cost 59,000 pesos (1252 USD) in Philippines in Dell Store itself. Too overpriced.
+Liquid estamos al horno.
+Liquid estamos al horno.
+Leo Vince 1000€ in Germany ..
+Leo Vince 1299 Canadian + a wonderful shipping fee of 50 Canadian b/c Canada Post is overpriced.
Total 1030 USD
1 483$ here
Wait gaming from A Dell? Hello?
ahahaha xD
+David Cox What do you mean... They've made alienware for years.... .. .. kappa
+ScrattleGG a dell = adele. It is a joke
Tuddy I know.
I know right? Linus should toss it the ocean. It should be rolling in the deep.
I am watching this video on the same laptop :))
Toka The Hunter how is it?
same
Does it work well?
It a beast
Same
You really helped me figure out this god damn puzzle of what I need/want, earned a sub!
This laptop costs over TWO THOUSAND New Zealand dollars if you buy from the NZ specific Dell store. What an absolute joke. The exchange rate atm means US$800 = around NZ$1250.
Linus you should do a video about why things are so outrageously expensive in different countries for people like us way the fuck down here. It's honestly shocking.
Holy crap man, that's insane.
+Jake Green Same problem in Canada and we are only over the imaginary line called the border.
dude im aussie and its 1.9k, these companies need to stop abusing countries that the hardware isnt made in.
Yeah, I'm just on Canada and I hate the stupid exchange rate and the ripping off going on.
It's more complex than exchange rates, international taxes is a pretty complicated topic
It's six in the morning, didn't sleep, don't care, I'm watchin this
+Alex The Lion it's now seven?
GOO SLEEP LOL
YOU ARE DESTROYING THAT BRAIN OF YOURS XD.
Omg same
Be careful of undersleeping. You could catch cancer.
***** You like it? Well thanks! I'm flattered! I made it myself in Microsoft paint. Such a great program.
+Alex The Lion same situation right now lol
55 FPS playable? before this laptop i used to think that 19 FPS was decent.
And I thought 30 fps for a laptop was low. Because I play with 30 fps
the keyboard is exactly the same with my g750jz , I think they had to sell their stock of keyboards somehow.Nice video as always ,keep up the good work and have a nice day.
I think you missed a big point for a laptop in this review: temps. I have what could be considered a "budget gaming laptop" with an i7 3630QM and a GTX650 and EVERY time I play anything starts getting to 80°-90° on both CPU and GPU. What about this one?
+TommyThousandFaces hey i have one, and I'm getting around 67 degrees celcius max on games, the cooling is really effective. are your numbers in celcius? That's very high.
ccjh0806 Yeah, it's in celsius. Nice, that's cool (pun intended). I know it's pretty hot that's why I run it on a cooling pad with 5V fans but I think I also need to change the toothpaste used by HP with something better I have around.
+TommyThousandFaces you should get that usb exhaust fan heard it helps alot for some
+TommyThousandFaces I also think it's probably just because of the Raw heat your laptop produces. A 3rd Gen i7 produces a lot more heat than this Skylake i5, the newer GPUs probably produces less heat too =) This is a good option to consider for you!
Theyn Smith I don't know, they look kinda loud tbh and my laptop is already kinda loud with both CPU and GPU under load.
ccjh0806 That's for sure! Well I might buy the i7 version if I can get a reasonable amount of money back for the one I already own. One reason I won't buy it is the undetachable battery because when I'm at home I don't run it off of the battery. Also I'll surely miss the fingerprint reader.
You know what's cool about this one: It costs 800 POUNDS in the UK
LOL
+Gorbaz The Dragon ikr but it's 749
ikr
+Gorbaz The Dragon My guess is it is hitting a certain price point. Here in the US there are plenty of items sold that are priced not on value, but a certain price point the company knows the customer will pay. Price seeking.
meh
+Hunter Carvalho The Raspberry Pi comes from the UK doesn't it? Or is that considered an import because it is an Asian manufacture?
That hardware is inexpensive in the UK, right?
And until a week ago, this was my primary computer. I did everything-including gaming-on it for nearly five years. Replaced a keyboard that lost a key, added some memory, opened the bottom to clean out cat hair from the vents. That's it. And it still runs like the day I bought it.
Now, I've got a gaming desktop, but the Inspiron's still good enough to run Discord while I'm in games
Some thoughts after using this as my daily driver for uni work and gaming since August 2016:
At 1:24 - The hinge is smooth when new, but the screws securing it on the top left side tend to snap off the plastic shell, leaving only the bottom screw holding it and requiring tightening every month.
The display, whilst IPS, doesn't offer the best colour gamut and crushes blacks badly - typical of cheaper IPS displays. Worse, the hue is slightly off, leading to content I create on here looking different than intended on any other display.
The keyboard I agree is one of the worst parts - little travel can make it difficult to get used to (though much better than the Butterfly keyboards on Macs in that regard!). I disagree with the touchpad though, it is very responsive - just wish it had dedicated left / right mouse buttons to help with gaming.
As for cooling, it keeps fairly cool when gaming. However, for CPU-focused loads like video rendering, the unit gets very loud and gives high CPU temperatures of around 85 degrees. GPU temps are much more reasonable though. I have the i7 version, so this may change things in this regard.
Also, there's a reason why you were so impressed by the 960M: it is essentialy a GTX 750ti in a laptop, with slightly higher core and lower memory clocks.
I have this laptop. Thanks to the great battery life I use it for college, it fits in my backpack so why not. I really like the keyboard for typing. When someone else used the keyboard the first comment was "wow this types great". The wifi does suck, I replaced mine with a killer wireless ac-1535 card. The touchpad is ok in my opinion. I guess it depends on what you're used to, but it works fine for me. A great laptop for the price.
same reason I bought it also about a week ago. great for school and games on the side
+Rowan Vermeulen How many hours can you game on it before it runs out of battery?
Just doing light work I can get pretty good amount of time usually will go about 5 hrs before I feel like I need to plug in. playing games though on that side I wouldn't feel comfortable with going over an hour depending on the game load. I've played ark for maybe about an hour before I decided to plug it in.
+mavfps battery life prob could be better I just haven't pushed it yet.
+mavfps never game with a laptop on battery. This kills performance, when you game always plug it in
So here I am 4 gaming years later with my 7559.
Just about to add a 500GB SSD and another 8GB of RAM
to keep it sweet. Nice machine for the price.
Bro can I play destiny 2 with this laptop?
Same boat as you and about to add another 8GB of ram. Hopefully it would serve me a year or two more until G14 is released and on sale.
2023 and still holding up! I've only had to change the wifi card, and I'm probably due for some thermal paste. I have a 4k touchscreen, and mine doesn't have the red logo or touchpad accent, so it is really elegant IMO
Got an I7 version today and so far it is fairly quick. Going to use it for Photoshop etc. and the 4 gig of vram will surely come in handy for those types of tasks.
I personally find the black and red aesthetic very appealing. Thanks for the recommendation Linus.
I bought this laptop (4k model) and been using since 5 months. Its a beast for a budget laptop. I play some graphics hungry games like GTA V, Witcher 3, Far cry 4, Battelfield 3,.. at 2048X1152 medium settings and runs smoothly. This is a beast.
The last AAA game I bought was Bioshock Infinite.
I think this'll do quite nicely
no no buy a pc. you can get one cheaper that performs twice as well as this one.
Coleman Northwood I need not much more than this, and I'm also out of the house 8 days out of the week. I don't think a heavy non-portable desktop is in my future
+Nathan Vincent What games have you ran on this?
Spooky haven't yet but I play Dota 2 and TF2 and Paladins, and I'll be breaking my 'silence' so to speak to get Doom, UT4 and Quake Champions next year, so not exactly lightweights
Nathan Vincent does it run doom? but yea I think ima just get a ps4 pro cus its slot a cheaper. I can also nab overwatch and titanfall2 and have money left over instead of just getting the laptop
Love your vids linus, keep up the good work!
Looking forward to buy this
my laptop said hello to me.....
maybe it's "a dell"
XD no pun intended
"no pun intended" sure
+David Cox I feel like this is a case of repeating something that is said a lot without really understanding how to use it.
+weinerschnitzelboy sorry
+randomizednamme im sorry
same model Australia $1,698.99 ._.
Currently $1100 AUD on Dell eBay with with CTEC20
i dont ebay full of fact and people i do not trust
thats why you look at the seller and the location before buying it mate, i bought mine from the US and some were from China and hong kong, no harm in checking before buying on ebay
buying out of Australia would make it cost more and say what u want but i don't trust spending that type of money online
Footde Coulde yeah just get it from the US, its 1k cheaper
I bought this laptop 7 years ago because of this video. While I've upgraded to an m1 macbook air since then I still love using this at home because the ssd has really given this laptop longevity and it has a nice big screen. The ips display still looks good to this day and it still runs great. I never really gamed much on this though.
I have one and I would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a laptop. I had to use it for a while as my desktop and it worked just fine, it ran games in 4k decently and I didn't have any problems with it at all. ( I do have the highest spec version though).
5 years later of owning this laptop and the hinge is absolute garbage, the chassis of the laptop slowly detach from the hinge and destroys the body of the laptop after opening the lid on a daily basis. The rest is decent tho. I recommend getting an SSD if it yours didn't already come with it.
Same bro the hinge is having problems
Watching this in 2020 with a Dell Inspiron 7559
Bought one of these in 2015 and it ended up lasting me til late 2020. Hands down my best laptop purchase ever.
I love the ending music!
linus can you review the new one
Alex Blair yes please.
Is there a new one?
Игорь Осипов yes. unveiled at ces 2017. you can buy it now. its the dell 7566
there is 7566 and 7567
I have the 7566 with core i7HQ gtx960m 16gb DDR4 ram 1tb hdd and 128gb ssd and im in love had it for a couple of months now and it was able to run paragon at ultra, the crew at high and watchdogs at ultra with no sweat. 10/10 would suggest. however when gaming the fans get insanely loud but i dont mind, touchpad is acceptable and keyboard is good
A few years later I still use my 7959 as my daily and game with it
bought this... really great so far. mine must be an updated version or something, I couldn't flex the keyboard or wrist rest to that degree shown in the video. Only major gripes so far is the dac of the laptop while miles louder than my phone and pc, Has a quirky difference of sound from my other devices
I just got an i7 version of this laptop and it looks like DELL may have done some improving. The keyboard seems to have been shored up a bit. I see almost no give when I press hard. It's very similar to the keyboard on my Inspiron n5110. The screen also doesn't seem to flex as much as in the review. Or I'm afraid to apply that much force, at least. So you may want to check it out again.
I remember drooling over this laptop when I was younger 5 years ago. I wanted to start PC gaming for so long and felt like it was never gonna happen. Going from a cheap $200 laptop to now an rtx 2070 super and R5 3600 I can't believe I've come so far! Good memories :)
BigMassive yeah man I feel you I currently have this laptop and I’m saving up to get what you have cpu and gpu wise and planning on giving this laptop to my little brother. This laptop sometimes struggles to get 60 FPS in newer games and I’m excited to use a 144hz monitor
@@awesomegamer773 that's awesome man! I never thought I'd need to upgrade to a higher refresh rate monitor or higher resolution but I'm telling you once you see how good it looks you'll never want to go back😂
BigMassive yeah man I was at my friends house and he’s got a really nice rig, 1080ti, threadripper 1950x, and 64 gb of dominator platinum ram (idk why he has so much) but playing on his 144 hz monitor was insane to me and felt unreal
ive been saving up for this laptop for work/mid tier games. do you think it would still be good today? I havent seen much reviews.
So i have the new one with gtx 1050ti, i7, 128gb ssd + 1TB hdd. Its on the way. If i wanted to could i pull the hdd and replace it with another 500gb ssd?
Sammy Diesel Yes, but that would have to be a SATA 3 SSD instead of an m.2
Just got this for my birthday... pretty awesome
this is amazing I own it and it plays absolutely everything I LOVE it. perfect for me sinceim always on the road
This will be 2000$ in my country...
k
Where do you even live?
Where do you even live?
Damn that sucks.
its freakin $2099.00 in New Zealand
how long till it's left outside?
I always loved Dell's neat design, i am still using my Dell Studio 1558 as a working machine and it is still working good for an 5 year old laptop :)
I have this almost one year later and I love it
IM STILL USING IT ITS GREAT
I am buying this in 2018
What are your FPS's on Major games
Same man...3 years now and it is still doing well...Thermals,gaming,editting everything is still perfect
Have you had problems with the left hinge? lol I misdiagnosed this a long time ago and my wife barely went without it. XD Caused irreparable damage.
Suggestion: Tighten the screw on the left hinge when you open up the back. It's really easy to access. But that's only a temporary solution. You'll want to use loctite if you want it to stay shut. lol
@@rolanurokima s mine also same problem the left hinge problm
Just a quick update. This laptop now costs 650usd at Amazon.
Just bought the 4k upgrade a few days ago as an early birthday present. This gaming laptop is truly impressive. It's currently on NewEgg for $1050 tax included and one day shipping (WITH the 4k upgrade). Thanks for your review Linus :D
Definitely getting this. I've been looking for a cheap gaming laptop for a while. The one thing that bugs me is the combined audio jack. Luckily I've got an audio splitter because of my xbox, but it seems a bit of a hassle. But I suppose I cant complain for the price.
I purchased minutes ago this laptop with full hd display and i7.
I hope I gonna enjoy it
How is it mate?
Would you recommend it???
+Khaled Snow It's a nice laptop. Worth it without doubt
How is the touchpad and the speakers as of now? I've read some reviews and I'm a bit cautious...
How is it
A good gaming laptop? FROM DELL? WUT
just bought it, should come in around christmas, hopefully it's good
Mine arrives in 8 days... cant wait...
I can always count on Linus to keep me up for another 8 minutes before going to bed XD
Its 9oclock here, i live in Holland
+Jesse Plays 9:34, Poland. Wtf?
It's such a headache trying to buy a gaming laptop.. The second you think that it's the laptop you really want you watch, read the reviews and the bubble of the excitement is gone.. There isn't a single model I haven't considered.. Asus rog, hp omen, msi, dell.. Can anyone help me out? I need something that can run overwatch at at least heigh settings with stable fps and be able to play some triple AAA games with at least medium-high settings.
what is your budget for a laptop?
I've decided to scrap all these and buy a msi with 1060gtx. To be honest if you think for a minute 960m is kinda outdated and you'll have to dial down the settings on every game you play more and more. Gtx 970m is a solid choice but I have an opportunity to get one with 1060 for few hundred extra which I think is the most logical and efficient thing to do because its gonna be worth in a long run.
if you can afford to buy then hell yeah go for it man. hope you enjoy it
A PC would be worth it in the long run than a gaming laptop though.
Tagic Mrooper it's what I'm going through right now :/ even went to a computer store and they advised crap so this is a bitch
the new one was just announced and it's so good!!
Amazing laptop... I have it since February and it's amazing how good the performance is.
I mainly play league and overwatch without any issue, ow runs in high at almost 70fps..
Definitly a thumbs up
I should have gotten this instead of xps 13
how come
how come
^^
Whats the ram and cpu for this laptop? Very interested in getting it for making youtube videos. Please let me know if you guys think I should get it or if there's a better one for youtube videos. Thanks for the help!!
for youtube videos? get a mac.. and im dead serious. probably not the 2016 model, get the 2015 one
Really? How come? Im not really a computer geek so I dont know a whole lot
well, you see most video editors use macs because the user interface is amazing and almost flawless.. the rendering speed is incredible and there are a lot more.. just check out mac for video editing on google.. and you'll see why
Thanks man! Thank you so much, I appreciate the help!!
you are very welcome.. always happy to help:) btw, just so you know im not that crazy apple fanboy.. i use both a pc and a mac hahaha but i find that for work related stuff a mac suits me more. I use my pc for gaming and other stuff
I've been running this beast for 5 years and it has had no problems! I love it
Would this laptop also be good for video editing? Im a videographer so i need it to be able to run sony vegas/premiere really well.
just bought this for $595 on ebay
are you serious? can you teach me?
Used? If not how'd you find it for so low.
One time from a seller on eBay used it won't happen again probably
You can normally find really good deals on Ebay. I've bought a couple gaming laptops this way. A few months ago I bought a Gigabyte p34 which is a 14in less than 1 in thick laptop with an i7, 970m, 1tb hdd and 120gb ssd for $900. I would say that's a pretty damn good deal.
just bought it for that on the dell outlet. happy :D
The way he says Inspiron makes my chest contract in pain
i live in belgium how can i get it here...cuz from amazon it says they can't deliver here and in dell.com it's not 800$,it's 999 euros so more like 1100$...anyone knows? thanks
I am watching this video on the Inspiron 7559 (I have the second model from the left on the Dell website screenshot in the video--1080p non-touch with an i7). I bought this for college back when it was a relevant machine in mid-2016 because I was (and am still not) comfortable taking my rig in a three and a half hour car ride to school with all of my other stuff, and also because I desperately needed an upgrade from my early 2011 MacBook Pro (the novelty was fun while it lasted and it's still useful in some aspects even to this day because I'm an iPhone user, but I grew up with PCs and I still think nothing can beat Windows).
I would say that this video is a very fair review of this computer. Day-to-day tasks are no problem, Chrome runs fine with several tabs open although it does eat up about 50% or more of the stock 8GB of RAM, so it is not a multitasking system to my disappointment, but that could easily be fixed if I decided to go for another RAM module. Most games that I play run great with absolutely no issues. The most taxing game I've tried to play on here is Rise of the Tomb Raider, and with DX12 turned on and the resolution turned down several notches, I can actually pull near 60 FPS with mid-high graphics settings. I'm not a build quality freak, but Linus is right about the trackpad and keyboard. I do not like using this trackpad, and I very quickly got an entry-level Logitech wireless mouse that performs ten times better. About the keyboard, I find that sometimes I will press a key in some kind of way it doesn't like to be pressed (particularly when a word has same letter twice in a row, like "pressed" or "letter") and it will add an extra keystroke. Annoying, but not the biggest problem in the world, though.
The bigger problems I've had with this laptop are actually related to blue screening and complete freezing. Yeah, I know, you probably just said "yikes" in your head, but thankfully I've been mostly lucky. Sometimes when I would plug in the AC adapter, I would get a weird error message and eventually blue screen. I looked up the error message and it had something to do with Adobe something or other. Considering at the point this started happening I had recently... um... very legally downloaded Photoshop, I decided to get rid of all the Adobe stuff on my computer and start again with Acrobat Reader and the like. I stopped getting blue screens, but still, once or twice it would freeze; holding the power button would bring up a blank black screen (still lit by the display), and it would not turn off. I had to wait for the battery to die and just hope that nothing bad would happen the next time. I was not doing anything incredibly taxing so I don't think it's related to internal temperature, but maybe Windows putting too much demand on the slow mechanical hard drive had something to do with it considering even Windows background processes will shoot the disk usage up to 100% in the time right after startup. Who can know for sure, though.
Like I said, I've actually happened to be very lucky as I've had nothing catastrophic happen in the past several months. I've since updated my BIOS, my chipset drivers, finally downloaded GeForce Experience for updated graphics drivers, and everything has been pretty fine so far. Unfortunately, it is a 15" laptop and it is too heavy and sweat-inducing for me to take around on my back at my large university campus in Florida, so I've had to go back to my Mac and cry about its almost-dead-thanks-to-old-Flash-UA-cam battery. I'm now stuck because I don't know whether to upgrade my seven year old Mac so it stops sucking, or increase the performance of this computer, but that's something I need to figure out on my own.
Overall, I've enjoyed using this computer, just like every other I've gotten from Dell. I was looking for a budget gaming laptop, and that is definitely what this is. I so wish this had a 1050 Ti in it like the current model does, but considering when it was made and how much good it's done me, I really can't complain much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... We all get it, Linus...
But, will it blend??
I am actually looking forward on getting the amazon version of this laptop (256 gb ssd), is it worth it?
Yes! The 256SSD is actually better compared to a HDD. It runs a lot faster and quieter. About a 15-20 second startup time
Yes
+PyroRaider I would recommend the 1 TB hard drive version. Then, add this: www.amazon.com/VisionTek-120GB-Pocket-Solid-State/dp/B00O0NV5HU
+Engineer 庄熙龙 Actually, the opposite. Get the SSD and add a hard drive.
+LinusTechTips how many memery cards does it come with ,is it just one solid 8gb? reason im asking is because i got an extra 4gb ddr3 here at home and i wanna know if i can slap it right on soon as i unbox it.
+LinusTechTips I bought this recently and seeing one wierd thing. Keyboard is flexing from the side of W.S,A,D keys. Is it normal or should I get it changed?
Are there any Windows laptops with good trackpads? You've gotta owe it to Apple, the trackpad on the Macs is pretty damn good. For Windows laptops, even if your trackpad is okay, it will be useless if you're stuck with Elantech drivers and not Synaptics.
+Daniel Lecoq Just get a cheap mouse.
I love a good trackpad, I know it's not much use in games, but it makes a huge difference, especially if you're used to working on a laptop.
+Daniel Lecoq There are. Asus Gaming series laptops have good ones. HP high end, "fancy" stuff has good ones. Apple's trackpad is damn near impossible to beat though... I love them.
+Xyler94 Surface Book has the best track pad I have ever used, better than my MacBook air. The dell xps has a very good track pad too.
+Satyam Patel how old is your mac book air?
got it for 300 on black Friday. awesome laptop
do you think it could run cs:go an at least high or medium? i'm thinking about buying it and i would mainly play Rust and counterstrike.
it plays good on both most of the time. id prefer medium for an overall better optimization.
WOW $300? man I so late on these deals. Good thing Christmas is coming up so I'm not that worried. I have a question, do you play titanfall? MKX? COD? and other games ? what popular games have you tried? I want to buy this solely on the screen and ability to play current games.
+Spooky I have the laptop myself and I have had it for a year now. I have many games and I have not yet come a cross one it will not run. The only game it dosent run at lime 65 fps is Arma 3 witch that is normal for everyone. I highly suggest you get it.
Slimjim Games yeah I already bought it my csgo runs at 200 fps highest graphics
This is a question about laptops in general, but is the i7 worth the extra cost or should I stick with the i5 model and put the money towards an SSD?
Don't really know much about the internals of computers. I am thinking of getting this laptop. How well will this laptop do with using photoshop and other editing stuff. Also the only game I play is the sims 4. I need a laptop that I will be able to use the high settings. Is this a good laptop for that? Thanks
Starting at $1,099.99 in Canada WTF!
That's because our dollar is crap
Exchange rates + international tariff
+Nic .O its 1.9k for me. rip au
+Graham Linux Have you not been paying attention to our CAD value or notice how prices in supermarkets bumped up? 0.7 CAD to 1 USD hurts.
Ursinia No I was not paying attention.
And......1200USD in India..
Well, you got the sharp side of the dual edged sword.
I think we have the same problem, 1000++USD in Taiwan and only 4GB memory (base model) :v
They're made and assembled in china.Guess who's right next to it.
Peter Ray Obama is to blame?
***** Nah, obama ruins everything.
How loud is the Dell Inspiron 15 7559 when doing stuff like Autodesk Inventor (In decibels if you can)? Also, is the wifi speed really as bad as it sounds as told from Linus?
I have an dell Inspiron n5010 that ive had for almost 7 years and it wont die. 2 new batteries, 2 new hhd's and now onto an ssd and it is still my everyday laptop. badass beast of a machine.
Can this laptop out perform ps4/xbone?
no
yee
xbone never heard of that
+Pyllynalle shorter version for xbox one dumbass!
they are very similar
Wonder when this will get 1060?
If it does get a GPU upgrade, don't expect it to be a 1060. Nvidia is putting the laptop 1060 GPU as a replacement to the 970m. My guess is that if Nvidia made a laptop 1050 GPU, it would go in here.
***** I was talking about a model upgrade.
I really hope that it does get a model update, a newer GPU upgrade even if it was to a laptop 1050, they should also upgrade the ram to their ddr4
Good news! Dell just updated this model with a GTX 1050/1050Ti, new Kaby Lake i5/i7 CPUs, DDR4 ram, and the same $799 starting price. And it's available today.
+MysteryMii215 Awesome! Thank you!
Exact same as my Lenovo that I got for $575. The m.2 is real nice, and the single screw on the back is an absolute dream. So I'd pay a tad more for that. Pretty cool.
Is Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-592G-58SJ better than this or not? Acer aspire have 4GB of DDR4 and Dell ispiron is 8GB of DDR3 and other spect is same like GTX 960 4GB DDR5, 1 TB storage, window 10 and ips display.
Wait wait, a quad core i5 on laptops? When did this happen?
+saharahgaiht I think it's a sixth gen CPU, which came out recently.
***** Nope, your processor has 4 threads but only two cores m8.
ark.intel.com/products/75459/Intel-Core-i5-4200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_60-GHz
+Marc Brown only the 6xxx(skylake) series has quads... anything before had 2 core for i3, 2 core 4 thread for i5, and 2/4 core with 4-8 thread i7...
+saharahgaiht Wait what, you didn't know quad cores were in $600 laptops for several years? The real question should be when did a sub-$1000 laptop have GTX graphics
Engineer 庄熙龙 Haha only if you are talking about quad-core Atom right? Until 2016 the only quad-core mobile processors were i7's and the chip itself is more than $600 in some cases...
Learn the difference between threads and cores lad.
ayyyy linusao
Does it take a NVMe SSD ? I Know it has a M.2 M type socket, But I don't see any actual block diagram in the manual or anywhere saying which connection are being used...
So If i buy an 950 Pro, will ir Work ? or will ir blend?! hahah
Thank you!
+LinusTechTips It may sound weird but i have a question for you, I am a gamer that needs a better laptop to keep up with the games of this time and my budget is a maximum of €800,- , What would be the best laptop for that price?
I bought the highest end model of this laptop for $375
Not a bad price. I got the same for 446 off ebay
It costs $1228.05 in India, why god, why?
+Anuraag Biswas (Jeet) probably taxes and leasing cost
+Anuraag Biswas (Jeet) its $1329 usd in aus :(
+Josh Ellem damn I was just about to look up the conversion
+Josh Ellem looooooooool. it's 1300 euros in europe. how the hell did europe end up paying more than aus. :D gg australia for once you can rejoice. you are not paying the most.
+Firstname Lastname Aus or Aussie is pretty much always Australia, we're lazy like that xD
is a GPU only beneficial for games or will it help with everyday use
Its $1700 in aus with a 7th gen i7 256ssd + 1TB HDD 16gb ram, is this a good purchase?
8 GB Ram , i5 2600k , GTX 620(or something like this). Can PC/Laptop Run a Normal online games as like Aion , APB Reloaded on 30+FPS ? and can it run League Of Legends 100+ FPS ? please answer me i need your help , or tell me what data needs normal gaming PC. i dont guess GTA 5 , assassin's creed unity in NORMAL.
Can this run fallout 4 high settings at 60+ fps?
Yep
or Medium - High
Nope, I have an i7 with a 970m (60 -70 percent faster as said by linus in this video) and I can run it at high but its at only 65 fps.
Probably not. I have a 970M and it's struggling to maintain smooth 60 after performance improving mods on high.
The 960m has the same power as a gtx 750 ti, so no, it can any game, just not to the max
watch youtube u moron it's not that difficult
I got it for 500$ so I would say its a good deal
+Chuck Norris Dell employee discount + Member discount + sale + coupon gave me a huge discount
+TheDrewSaga Haha, yeah. Though if you count the cost for online play and getting and having a nice TV consoles are even more.
I got a 550$ Pc but I get only 54 average on full settings on csgo and on dying light Only 32 average 42 high 25 min on minimum settings
***** I know It has a HD 520 graphics xD and 8GB of ram and a i5 6200u 2.30ghz
This laptop can run fallout 4 on ultra 1080p with fast enough frames to not notice, the keyboard I dont think is actually that bad, its not great. The mouse pad sucks, but it's usable when you need to use it. The coloring on the screen isn't that great but with a monitor its great and it's easy to deal with dull colors when you are remote. It's definitely a good computer for the price I got it at and probably for the full price too.
Just ordered i7,960m,1080p, SSHD 1008 gb model. I have one question about SSHD and SSD. I want to use SSHD as storage (I read that SSHD is not very fast for system) and buy SSD as a main drive. Or just sell this SSHD? Will it slow down the system as a second drive?
+LinusTechTips Hi Linus, here in the Netherlands the Inspiron 7559 isn't available anymore. Can you review the follow up of it when i is available in your country?
