It’s been 30 years but I will always remember Sissinghurst Castle gardens. I visited the gardens with my dear mother on a visit to London. At that time I had 5 1/2 acres of gardens. 2 acres was Woodland and the rest offense vegetable garden and mostly native gardens. Sissinghurst gardens we’re so inspiring to me. The vast scale and expanse really warrants more than one day to see properly. I have since moved on from my 21-year-old garden in comparison my current gardens are postage stamp size. My husband is a climbing arborist. He brings me all kinds of wood for stepping stones borders and decoration. I had no idea that what I have created had a name…stumpery gardens! Because I live on the northern California coast, I also have driftwood throughout my tiny gardens. I always learn something new from you. This was so fun thank you Alexandra! ❤
Oh i love this!! ❤ you introduce each person with care and love! And the gardeners did a wonderful job of showing us their favorite gardens!! Stunning, and full of love and appreciation. brilliant!! Thank you!
Thank you Alexandra with winter just around the corner, this UTube will give me lots of armchair gardening during the winter months. So enjoyed this video 🧑🌾
Thank you, Alexandra, for including me in this great collab. I enjoyed learning about the other creators' gardens and to hear such marvellous recommendations. Best wishes, Rachel.
Thank you so much for yet another wonderFULL presentation. I'm so thankful for gardening UA-cam channels as they allow me to continue exploring, and learning, and eye-feasting while my garden lies dormant under snow and ice. It's November 2 and I have to head out to dig some bulb-holes before the ground freezes. I try to plant as late in the season as possible and I actually put sticks in the holes so I can find them should we get an early blast of the white stuff. Blessings to all from Quebec, Canada.
Absolutely brilliant episode, Alexandra, thank you so much. You’ve given us lots of ideas of wonderful places to visit. I really appreciate the work you put into this. It must have taken a long time to put together. Thank you! 👏👏👏
Hi Alexandra. I love Compton Acres and the bonus is that we can take our dogs with us too, making it a true family day out. Always so difficult finding gardens to visit that allow dogs. Such a shame. We also visit Stourhead, but it is more parkland than herbaceous borders, although the vegetable garden has a few flowers. Another garden that has beautiful borders/landscaping is the American museum at Bath. I love visiting gardens but the only way we can visit most of them is to take it in turns to look around whilst the other half looks after the dogs in the car. As you have a dog, maybe you could recommend some dog friendly gardens. I am sure I am not the only person, who has dogs, who feels deprived of viewing beautiful gardens. I love gardens but i love my dogs too. Thank you. Happy gardening 🙂
Going to have to save this video and look up all these gardens and resources. Thank you so much for compiling and sharing! Content like this is greatly appreciated during the long winter months.
Awesome, thanks for all these suggestions for gardens to visit and new channels to check out. When I'm next back in the UK this will be a good video I will revisit. Just subscribed.
Everyone is bubbling with enthusiasm. It’s a pity I’m watching this in November where my tiny patch of flowers are dying back. Oh well, I like everyone else will have to wait for next year’s spring!
Wow I enjoyed this so much, I think I'll watch it every day for the rest of my life! Am now saving for a trip to GB to come visit every one of these gardens and in the meantime I will be checking out all the content from the guests you've featured. Especially love Liz Zorab's passion for Aberglasney Gardens 😊 thank you Alexandra for creating this huge collab 🙏
Alexandra, thank you so much for this interesting video, now I want to visit all of those spectacular gardens! I do enjoy your posts. Marie from New Zealand 🌷
Awesome collaboration Alexandra. Im an Australian but I subscribe to most of your presenters in this video and am happy to find a couple of new ones. As for the gardens I hadn’t heard of most of them and it was a joy to be introduced to them. I hope to come to the UK soon and it’s going to be difficult to choose which ones to visit.
This is so awesome as everyone gave such great suggestions! It's my dream to visit gardens in the UK. Is the Temple of Apollo in the Pride & Prejudice movie? Beautiful!
Thanks Alexandra, this has been a really useful video, I’m always on the look out for interesting gardens to visit. My favourite garden is The Garden House on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon, well worth a visit if you are in that area.
Exciting! I've asked for this info, too. Lots of extended family live in England, and we come over from Canada relatively often. Definitely bookmarking this list. Thank you!
That was such a lovely video Alexandra; thank you. The last garden in Dublin was just my cup of tea! Interesting Gardening UA-camrs! Alexandra, do you know Felley Priory gardens in Nottinghamshire? A real hidden gem with a wonderful little cafe too.
Thank you! Just what I needed. We are having a much needed week of rain in the Pacific Northwest and I am sitting here and stressing over this ridiculous election in the US and feeling extremely anxious. But now I have a long list of gardens to visit online. Better yet, I added all your contributors that i was not following. So heres to happy garden inspiration and keeping our democracy healthy. Go Kamala!
I have just tried to add counties, but UA-cam says that the description is too long and I can't add any more. Sorry! But will bear it in mind for the future.
Hate Pier whatshisname scrub land bombsite gardens .But the best gardens in England is great idea of yours .My favourite gardens Compton acres and Hidcote manor
Exactly! in the South, Wisley should always be the default number 1 shout, its variety and epic scale is unsurpassed. Respectfully disagreeing with Dixter, while it is a Mecca for the advanced gardener, let's be frank, it's a dense and overgrown mess of a garden for any rational outsider. (Sorry but Sissinghurst is also overrated). I feel like Stourhead should not be on this list, landscape gardens and masterpieces like this deserve to stand on their own, I am willing to risk that Stourhead is on par with natural wonders like the Dover Cliffs and the likes, it's special. From the country house style I love Hidcote, Pashley Manor and Great Comp!
I think a video series could be made on top 10. Like Alexandra's top 10 smaller gardens, water gardens, Trust gardens, landscape gardens. It would certainly wind people up (in the good sense) and provide plenty of comments and engagement 😊
You seem to have increased the frequency of adverts. There have been so many in this video I have given up watching at 15 minutes 35 seconds, as it seems more trouble than its worth. This is the first time on your fantastic channel, that I have not got to the end of an 'episode'.
I think UA-cam is on a campaign to test our limits as far as adverts go, even for sites that aren't monetised. I am hoping that you derive income for those adverts on your channel.
@@TheMiddlesizedGarden I watched the remainder of the episode later and not a single interruption. Very strange. Perhaps the algorithm was having an off-day. I don't like to post negative comments, because I have learn't so much in the past from listening to your guests !
@@dianefields6056 yes it's my main 'job' because making a video takes a lot of time and a certain amount of equipment, so I wouldn't be able to do it without the revenue from the ads. Thank you for picking up on that.

Your garden sounds delightful. And Sissinghurst is wonderful too but I simply don't know it as well as Great Dixter which is such an inspiration
Alexandra, this is fantastic. With winter coming, I am looking forward to virtually touring these lovely gardens! Thank you.
Thank you!
This is a great round up Alexandra - thank you for allowing me to be part of it!
A pleasure 🙏
Awesome collage Alexandra... thoroughly enjoyed. And now subscribed to some new garden friends thanks to you!
Thank you!
Loved this video ,not only the gardens but the presenters. I follow some of them and am glad to learn about more .

Wish there was a map of these. I have not heard of many of locations. Can you put the county name on each of the description list entries.
