I just ordered one. It's my first non AAA handheld. When I heard I could play DOS games on a handheld I got it right away. Can't wait to relive my childhood.
What level of DOS machine can this emulate? I have a GP2X that can emulate a rather slow 286. The GP2X is a contemporary of the Dingoo A320 on which this machine is based. (check out openhandhelds . org for Dingoo software). The original a320 wasn't more powerful for emulation than the gp2x, but this machine has a much newer CPU and graphics chip (IIRC, the a320 had a rather slow (for its clockspeed) 400 or 500mhz CPU) Can it emulate a 386sx 16 or 25 with VGA and a sound card? A 286 12 with VGA and soundcard? A 286 8mhz with EGA and soundcard? Also can you tell me the name of the website you ordered it from?
13:25 What makes you believe you couldn't play Jill of the Jungle or other DOS games on a 90s PC lying on a sofa? PCs have had joysticks going back to the IBM 5150, the original PC released in 1981 (though they were analog). By the early 90s, digital joysticks were widely available, like the "Gravis Gamepad" Virtually all PCs had a joystick port and if yours didn't, most sound cards would add one and there were game port cards sold if you didn't want either a sound card or if you had one that didn't have a joystick port.
Hello, great video, but could you please help. I'm trying to play civilization 1 on handheld RetroArch DOSBox. But can figure how to simulate and use mouse on sticks? Thank you
What’s a good emulator for doom 1 and 2 and duke 30 that runs on the machine
3 роки тому+1
Is there any way to use mouse in DosBox for RG350? Some forums mention to press Power + L1 but doesn't work to me. Does anyone know how to make it possible?
Great video. The issue with comparing megahertz to megahertz is that you're comparing a 1GHz MIPS processor emulating the x86 architecture. A 100MHz Pentium sounds slow but all of the instructions are native. Assume that a 3d game is doing a lot of architecture specific math.
polaris911 thanks for reply! Do we need any edit of configuration? As there is nothing happened when moving right/left stick when I try in all games I already tried the commonly recommended method “power+R1”
You can "sort of" play Epic Pinball using the left and right keys on the D-pad. Obviously not ideal as you can't press both at the same time (sometimes necessary) but sort of works. Another game you should try is OMF 2097 (also by Epic). Plays great after going to Video options and turning off all rendering settings (and the Start button plays a part during combos as well). Same goes for Doom and Doom 2 (setting Graphic detail to Low). Perhaps one day they'll do a decent port of DOSBox with all remapping bugs fixed.
My favo game is a vertical shooter called "Raptor"...It would be interesting to see if you could install and run that game, not to talk about "Tyrian". I have them on my Win7 (64 bit) desktop but it gets enlarged on my screen so it just too blocky, I wonder how these games would look like on this device? The DOSBox alone makes it worth to buy but I want to be sure that it can ran these games. Thanks for the demo!
You can't find DosBox? You may need to copy the OPK for the program to your handheld first. I thought it came pre-installed but maybe some models don't.
Where did you buy yours? How much did you pay for it? I have a GP2X handheld that is very similar, but way less power with 2 core (not dual) arm chip at like 200mhz called magic-eye. I've been looking to upgrade it for quite a while (IIRC, I bought it in 2006). I almost bought a dingoo digital a320, back around 09 or 10, but it just wasn't a big enough upgrade and none of the emulators really ran any better. The main selling point was the D-pad, as opposed to the thumbstick of the GP2X. With emulation, you cannot compare CPUs. Like a Pentium 100 is not only faster than the processor in the machine on a per-mhz basis, but since a Pentium would have to be emulated, you would be lucky to have the equivalent of a 10mhz Pentium in the emulated machine. The RG350 has no hope of emulating a Pentium 100 with VGA and sound, especially with a high degree of compatibility. The more compatible an emulator is, the slower it will be. Getting an emulator to run one game or application is a way different proposition than getting an emulator to run hundreds of different programs. That is generally why MAME has so many games. None of the hardware has to be perfect emulation because each hardware platform is only a couple of games.

I feel like a lot of your issues with the unplayable stuff can be reconfigured in the text files to run properly.

Great video, THANK YOU!!!!
Does anyone know if Dark Sun: Shattered Lands works?
Thanks for great video!
Can you also share with us your way to “mount cd rom” as some games require this setup to run, many thx!
Prince of Persia 2 seems to run fine on my Zero so should be good on the 350 too.
What’s a good emulator for doom 1 and 2 and duke 30 that runs on the machine

Some forums mention to press Power + L1 but doesn't work to me.
Does anyone know how to make it possible?
Yes. Press Power + B, then you can use the right joystick to move the mouse. Press L2 to click.
@@polaris911 It works!! Thank you

Got sad that Blood doesn't run! 😔
Can you share with us your way to activate mouse? Or how to emulate mouse with D pad?
I believe all I had to do was use right joystick for mouse cursor, L2 and R2 for left and right click.

I've having the same issue, the mouse doesn't enable

Have you tried magic dosbox? I use it on my ancient jxd 7800b and it's perfect. No lag and so easy to configure everything.
Great info video
Thanks a lot, man! Take care
I'm curious if it can run Daggerfall or Ultima 7
Did you watch the whole video? Daggerfall is one of the games I test :P

I can't find DOS on my RG351M, do I just make a DOS folder?

i am going to buy RG350 soon
Informative. I hope you review more DOS games that runs well on this device. Is it safe to assume pre-1992 games are playable?
Great video!
