  • Felix Marsh Rimmington led a remarkable life, serving as the community chemist by day and delving into the realms of crime investigation and forensic science by night. His expertise proved invaluable to the police force, assisting in the resolution of perplexing cases ranging from unexplained deaths to poisonings and murders. Notable among his contributions was his pivotal role in the investigation and court proceedings of the infamous 'Humbug Billy' Bradford sweets poisoning of 1858, as well as his involvement in probing a suspected Jack the Ripper murder in Bradford.
Rimmington's dual role as a chemist empowered him to pioneer new treatments and scientific advancements, earning him the prestigious title of Borough Analyst bestowed by the Local Government Board. His dedication also extended to supporting the implementation of the 1875 Sale of Food and Drugs Act, thereby safeguarding numerous lives throughout the 19th century and beyond.

I remember when I was in my teens, many moons ago, looking through the windows of what appeared to be a very posh chemist, never once did I dare go in x

Rimingtons was actually a brilliant shop when I was young, im in my seventies now, it sold everything, art materials , photography equipment, and more strange concoctions than you can shake a stick at..

I support Rimmington's pharmacy...a piece of local history rather than some corporate chain based in London

A fascinating look at an iconic Bradfordian and his establishment. It's just occurred to me that the Ivegate address on the Rimmington's paraphernalia actually relates to the entrance around the other side!

  • @AnimalMagic1

Interesting to see the old Rimmingtons Soda Water dispenser bottle in this video .. I recall my family having 3 of those bottles in our pantry back in the early 60s ..
