This brings back memories from the Post World Wars history class in college. The amount if stupidity drawn into Middle-Easten maps is jaw dropping. Not mention all of the secrets treaties, double crossing and back stabbing that occurred around the world at the time. Amazing how a few selfish decisions made in the past can still carries weight today.

If the Bible is correct then a man known as Abraham had two children one each from two mothers and one of them known as Ishmael would live on to create the country/people known as Palestine and the other would make Israel bringing the conflict we currently have over Jerusalem well sort of after a little decision made by a president

      now about present day🤷🏻‍♂️
I will say this Colonialism has not ended..... it evolved. let me explain. before colonialism " ends " the west chose the leaders of countries to keep their interest in regions take france for example.
      www.ieri.be/en/publications/wp/2019/f-vrier/france-still-exploiting-africa
and take me for example. i am from the middle east and here our " dictators" have been chosen by the west not by us and here they uneducate people Historically , economically and religiously because that's what sustain their rule and my country is rich ,but money is nothing for me and for us muslims in general and here we eat we drink and we sleep ( not me i always study and seek knowledge in all fronts as best as i can and am a civil engineer ) even the cattle eat drinks and sleeps. here🇰🇼 courrption is too obvious and we muslims are in phase one and that's " Realization " to be fully aware from politics to history to religion. and every time a Muslim nation rises the west is unsatisfied and want to overthrow the government. Gaddafi, mursi,Yemeni leader Salah , King faisal in the 70s ( he got assassinated) ....etc way a lot i can't go over them all.
HOWEVER, before the Arab spring this i admit was not clear to all of us ,but after the Arab spring EVERYTHING WAS CLEAR. we now came to realize misery is built by the happiness of others and our leaders and boarders were chosen and drawn by the west and we must amd will over throw our governments and stop the western intervention in our lands. sorry forgot ( the western people have nothing to do with their governments in fact we are all slaves to this corrupted system we live under " capitalism " or communism both you use " banks" made you know by who i don't have to explain).
now about "slavery has evolved" and this time it favors no race only one in fact 👃 and it favors mostly the dollar. we are born to serve and sustain the system and the system milks the life out of us and we gain " invaluable paper money " in return and sometimes we get in debt which is literally an invisible chain in the neck. basically we are living inside bank and the bank choses who succeed and who doesn't and the bank plays with economy and who built it? "the red shield" known as the rothschilds.
our muslim lands are the battlefield of the super powers and when you say next time why refugees are in Europe ask yourself what caused them to be there? that's the correct question.
Russia is causing the refugee crisis in Europe by bombing the Syrians and helping Assad to kill his people and the refugees are a toy to send them to Turkey and Europe to weaken their economy and make the left wing fight right wing start wars. Russia has an agenda and don't get wrong Russia, china and America/western Europe are fighting for their agenda to who rules who. all of them are trash.
now i want to put it in conclusion. " REALIZATION LEADS TO REVALUATION AND REVELATION LEADS TO REVOLUTION " SOMETIMES IT LEADS TO A VERY DIFFERENT R AND THAT'S RADICALIZATION AND THAT HAPPENS WITHOUT BACKBONE. that's why people go far left or far right. because they are weak in character and btw left wing right wing is a toy for the system no matter who wins the system decides everything not the people nor the government.
We muslims are in phase one ,but obviously Turkish people has finished phase three. and we look forward to unite with our Muslim brothers and sisters and no islam is not an Arab please don't let me write about it and Arab is not an ethnicity it's a language.

    • @stormyprawn
      @stormyprawn 4 роки тому +66

@Daniel Byrne well... Not the Sykes picot agreement by itself
The reason most post-colonial nations in Africa and the middle east are so poor is because of their colonisers
Before imperialism was really a thing in Europe places like India housed thriving civilisations. Like, if you look at other videos done by extra history (especially about ibn battuta? I think that was the name) the Islamic world was one of the wealthiest and most advanced places
There's documentaries by Vice (before they became a channel for libtards and back when they did crazy shit like going into North Korea) about Islamic terrorists. I can even give you a link if you want. In that documentary the radical islamic supporters talk about the Sykes picot agreement as their main cause for hating the west (apart from all the infidel stuff lol)
And in that regard I partly agree with them. If Europeans didn't colonialise most of the known world, the places that are poor today would be somewhat closer in wealth to Europe if not surpassing it

Great thanks to Extra History for this series. The aftermath of world war 1 in the Middle East is the key to understand the horrors that people in that region, particularly in Syria, had to endure for the last 100 years.
The fist of which is that Faisal was not any better than his brothers. In 1920, Faisal fled Syria, his kingdom, upon receiving the Gouraud Ultimatum, leaving Syrians on their own against the French for 26 years. Before the Syrians could finally claim independence on the 17th of April 1946.

    A little correction:
There were no Canadian troops in Galipoli.
In fact the Newfoundland regiment was not part of the canadian army because Newfoundland was not part of Canada at the time.
This would change after the immense toll the first world war had on the territory forcing it into either being an overseas colony (no longer dominion) or a province of canada.
Although it is important to say that Newfoundlander commemorative sites are administered by the canadian gouvernement today, these sites do not represent Canadians. They represent Newfoundlanders.

For AP World History, we had to do a Treaty of Versailles with each person/group representing a country/people that fought in WWI. I was the Arab Nations and it was really fun to research all of this. It really makes you hate the Ottoman Empire (and the Western powers). So, this video is about a year late for the research. Damn.

In defense of Churchill, the tactics of the day were controlled by the First Sea Lord who began bombarding early, alerting the Turks and giving them time to prepare, and sent the men in in terrible formation thereby dooming what might have been a far less deadly attack.

There was also apparently Armenian support for a landing in Alexandretta, as there were Armenians there before the Armenian Genocide and the annexation of the area into Kemalist Turkey happened.
Also, interestingly enough, the four allies all wanted a large slice of the Ottoman Empire; Russia had claims in what is now northeastern Turkey, and Italy had claims in the southwest. Greece joined eventually, taking most of what remained of Turkey's Mediterranean coast.

Not true about Greece. Italy claimed the entire Mediterranean coast, as a consequence Greece invaded Smyrna to strengthen its position, the Greek invasion was a scandal since it was done without any previous agreement, so Italy got annoyed and gave up on its claims entirely and supported Kemalists against Greece. I guess Husein's mistake 0 was to assume that his relationship with the British would be more important than Britain's relationship with the French.
I don't want to suggest that he was being stupid. Reaching out to the British was clearly the right thing to do and in his interest. But my understanding is that studying foreign cultures is necessisary for this sort of thing to work in the way you want it to. You want to understand THEM more than they understand YOU. And given the sort of place Faisal became king of, I don't think Hussein managed it.
