Honey butter chips became a thing because of the game called mystic messenger bc one of the characters eats them all the time and the chips got really popular bc everyone was a simp for him
I was humored by the honey butter chips. I have a friend out in South Korea and it must have been like five years ago when he emailed me asking if I could look for honey butter potato chips in the US and ship them back to him because people out there were going nuts over them and they were constantly sold out. I never found them in the US, but I always wondered what those things tasted like.
Succulent dishes appealing to the mainstream. Well described Matthew! Time will tell if past and current generation (Koreans) would welcome this style into ones pallet
That saam doesn't look that good lol. I prefer to eat my saam with the herby bitter vegetables along with the lettuce and pork bulgogi. Also there's no saam jang (sauce) that is made with gochujang and various other additions like chopped nuts and apples. I know that's not what this restaurant is going for but I think there's a LOT lost in their interpretation of "modernized" saam.
Where Korean food will progress? I'm sure lots of people in Korea would tell you that they've already perfected their food and it's just perfect as it is. I'm sure what you ate tasted awesome, but come on.
A lot of Asian food were created with budgetary restrictions in mind. When those restrictions are no longer in play and the chef wishes to try and innovate WTF is wrong with that?
LOVE your work Matt! You're informative, entertaining, and gives us a peek into both your personal food memories and the national Korean food identity, which truly elevates every video you do. I really appreciate the videos and please keep them coming :)
American's can't say "best Korean, best Asian best this" in America, because all the "non american food is americanised, Would you like fries with those Korean spices?".
Inb4 all the Korean food purists call all this pretentious food and demand that all Korean cuisine be served exactly the same way everywhere. GrowTF up. Japanese cuisine already went through this back in the 90's, it's high time Korean cuisine became comfortable with creativity and innovation.
im going to say no to these dishes. they overloaded with flavors on the wrap dish. Soybean paste is pungent, salty and coats your mouth, and they chose to top it off with more saucy chili stir fry pork? of course everyone has their own tastes, but I am going to go ahead and think that the host did not enjoy the dish either
Obviuosly this guy hasn't been to korea lately.... those leaf wrapped rice are in many traditional korean restaurants. Stop talking about korea when you don't know.
the food descriptions are on point. youre hella underrated
holy crap I though Lucas was good, but Matthew you're just as awesome at describing food. Now I'm gonna binge on all your episodes xD
Man your videos are getting better and better. Love your descriptions of food and the enthusiasm you display on the show.
Excellent show thanks for your time and efforts. That food looked amazing.
This looks breathtaking.
Best episode of k-town so far! The descriptions of the food was super informative and detailed. Plus there were sweet camera shots of the food!
this channel is so underrated.
EVERY MORNING I WAKE UP TO THE SAME SWEET SOUND
A natural presenter, with the verbal ability of Lucas but with more semi serious delivery and in depth topic knowledge.
nah honestly if you fact checked him, he speaks out of his ass half the time, but it goes unnoticed.
Love the way you describe food
Thank you!
he's very precise! i never liked the wallop of mustard from naengchae too.
Dude K Town is such a solid run of YT videos.
Good to see Matt in NYC. Love me some Ssam. Excellent episode.
Love to watch NYC cuisine omg loves it! love NYC

How much was the meal altogether?
Matthew in the house! I wanted to eat everything you were eating, especially the honey butter chips.
Honey butter chips ice cream looks da bomb!
"Honey butter chips, the strange convenient store fad" -- they do not know of "Mystic Messenger" looool
Thank you
5:15 what's the song?
Lol, the HB chips craze. I hate that I still have not had a chance to taste those. They should be cheaper to buy on eBay now though.

Oiji means Korean pickled cucumber
those chips sell out everytime at h mart xD
Aye don't steal our bush tucker!
always interesting to see sophisticated poor people food.
I think we can all agree the title misjudges the video with the words “pork”, “butt”, and “wrap”
Doin this to me at this time
my parents would ask, 'what the heck is this?'
How to be a food critic: Add 'ness' and 'y' in the end of every word.
Glutinous. Yum!
Quintessential? Funky? Matt is now turning to Nick.
Im starting to get my fill with Korean food.

Too fancy for my taste

Korean food doesn't need to progress or be refined.
"Quintessential" LOL...

waterflowzz you're an idiot. He stated it's eaten all the time. Wrapping pork in lettuce is common. He never stated it wasn't.
Is this paid sponsored?
No this is not paid for or sponsored, thanks for watching!
Too much talk, less eat. Eater must eat more.
Ronald Peña no lol
First
Matthew > Lucas.
No statement is so untrue than this one.
Matthew = Lucas
I like em both
Matthew + Lucas
(Fixed)
At least he doesn't get political.
