the biggest reveal of Dishonored 2 trailer is that Corvo can talk
he alway bruh but the game dont show his voice
Corvo YOU ARE THE FATHER!!!!!!!
😳
HERE COMES DAT BOIIII
In the first game, when she drew the picture of Corvo, she labeled it "Daddy"
Hi
That’s so sweet!
When?
Also when Pendleton in high chaos at the last mission when hes bleeding out states to corvo that everyone knew about Jessamine and corvo
I accidentaly read the title as: "is Emily Corvo's father?"
Needless to say, I was very confused.
Actually in the first game there was a secret room, in the mission where you have to assassinate the Lord Regent, where you can find a vocal message from the emperess to corvo where she talks about their relationship and if i remember well she talks about Emily too. The room can be found in the main building into a chimney. To open it you have to interact with a sort of candle on the wall, wich is actually a switch. Enjoy. :)
YES! I actually found this straight after the video was made! Go check it out guys!!
Um Havlock states that he can't believe you're Emily's father in his last journal entry, and Pendleton says "everyone knows you were screwing the Empress." as his last words before he bleeds out. Also who else could it have been? She didn't get herself pregnant.
Wasnt there a poster Emily made for Corvo? She signed it "Daddy"
Arrender Yes. She puts it in your room after you complete a certain mission
Arrender yes
*if you go and talk with one the maids in the beginning of the game they will hesitate and ask a question about you and empress
*at high chaos ending before killing Pendleton speak with him he directly says that "you like Nobel women everyone knows that you were screwing the empress"
honestly I got to know in the cut scene where Emily comes and hugs and kisses him and says mother missed you a lot and even says that she was worried when he was gone
this was confirmed years ago
Mid to late 2014 I believe
Did anybody know or did the empress and Corvo keep it a secret?
@@vincenthawthorne9360 people knew it.. Pendleton said it..
peaceful warrior I mean yeah a lot of people correctly guessed it, but it was never made official by Jessamine or Corvo
This blew my mind when I found out Corvo was the father
Im pretty sure in the game someone clearly stated that corvo is the father. Maybe its because i got low chaos.
Binge Monsoon ur joking right?
@@helvent4566 It's more subtle in low chaos. In high chaos, Pendleton actively accuses you of screwing the Empress. Everyone's more polite about it in low chaos- preferring to dance around the topic.
Mate, you say it was never confirmed..... Kingsparrow island, high chaos. With Pendleton dying he says to you, we all know you were screwing the empress.
That is technically an assumption made from gossip. Corvo doesn't have proper dialogue with him to make a comment on what Pendleton says. Confirmation would only come from direct dialogue from Corvo/Jessamine OR from the developers themselves. This has NOW been done as I explain in the video.
Can you find out why they have different last names (corvo attano) and (emily kaldwin)
silent striker955 Your not serious are you?
They dont want to let the whole city know that the empress personal bodyguard banged the empress wouldn't they? Lmao
Or a foreigner of low birth
This was so obvious
Hype World it's been confirmed in the first game more than 12 times. Like the fuck
I have a feeling whoever you don't play as will die at the start
Same, doesn't make sense for Emily to take that ring over that body in the gameplay trailer unless it's corvo
When you get to choose your character you see Corvo wearing "Emily's" ring.
+Silenced Games she already has a ring so I don't know why she put one on.
Charlie MCMXCV 0o0 if you look at the e3 demo, corvo is wearing that ring. then in the gameplay trailer she puts the ring on in the throne room full of bodys
Silenced Games I know. When she's putting on the ring, over the dead bodies, that is presumably after you choose to play as her at the start of the game. But they showed us when you choose to play as either protagonist, Corvo or Emily, they were both wearing a ring on their left middle finger. This makes me confused as to why she was putting the ring on later.
Wait was there doubts?
HOW DOES THIS CHANNEL HAVE NO SUBSCRIBERS???!!!!
i played dishonored recently and Emily clearly says corvo if u don't marry my mother than will u marry me when im older?
so from her saying that it seems like they had another idea for dishonored 2 about corvo not being her dad but that idea was diminish
most of daughter wants to marry her father when she is still young....
true story ,,
HZ thx
A lot of children wants to marry their parents, its very natural.
That being said, I dont think they ever intended for Corvo to really be her father, only to have taken the role as such.
I think the mystery of Emilys father was such a common/large point of discussion among those whom played the game that the studio responded by giving in to what they thought was players hopes.
Personally I have a big problem with Corvo being her biological father.
For a really long time, an offspring between a regent and a commoner would be treated as a bastard, an illegitimate heir to the throne.
It seems that no one has any information or opinions about this in the first game.
If this is the case, the only reason why she would take the throne would be because Corvo puts her there by "eliminating" any competition while the true heir would probably be some distant relative to the Empress with pure royal blood.
I guess Emily could be chosen as the peoples favorite and re-elected as the new Empress, but she wouldn't be treated as the obvious choice.
Furthermore. While an affair between the Empress and her bodyguard might go unnoticed, or at least ignored, a pregnant empress, and later a child would not. And seeing how the child is then acknowledged as the next in line would raise a lot of questions.
If Corvo is the known father of Emily, for her to become "legitimate" Corvo would have to marry the Empress and become... (uhm... whatever you become when you marry an empress..(Since if you marry a queen, you dont become king, you become a prince that's married to the ruling queen.)).
Therefore the game would be nonexistent in its current form since both Corvo and Jessamine would have to be murdered for Hiram (Lord Regent) to take the throne as Corvo would be next in line to rule until Emily was old enough, had they been married.
My theory has always been that Emilys father (Probably The Emperor) died before, or shortly after Emilys birth, leaving the father figure role open to the one man that was constantly with her to protect her and her mother as Emily was growing up.
This would also lead to Jessamine to spend a lot of time with Corvo and seeing him and Emily work so well together she would, in time, become infatuated with Corvo, even though it would be an inappropriate relationship for an Empress and her bodyguard.
This would explain the rather stale welcoming for Corvo as he returned from the long trip, as they would both be hiding their affection for one another.
Especially after that "bleeding-heart" opening.
I feel the studio missed the mark on this one and could have lead up to this better in the first game.
They should have somewhat acknowledged the proper relationship between Emily and Corvo, and to some degree explained why it was accepted (Subtlety); maybe through dialog only heard by listening/spying on some people at the right moment, or by a record from a book telling of a similar incident in the past where from that point onward it wasn't frowned upon to have a child that is recognized as the heir without proper knowledge of whom the second parent was.
OR
At the very least create some conflict where some people don't accept her as the heir to the throne due to her father not being royalty, and then either have Corvo take them out, or convince them in the game to accept her, especially in such hard and uncertain times.
(Spoiler)
Also.. If she is his daughter, why would she be sleeping with her teacher in a different building than Corvo when she was rescued?!
I mean, there's fucking teleportation-ninja-assassins about and her father with supernatural powers, who protects her for a fucking living, sleeps in another house?!!!
Emily even says she feel safer and prefers to sleep in Corvos room!
Why is this a question?
Is it just me, or does Corvo look almost a lot like Robert Carlyle?
Awesome video, that makes sense now!
I wonder how weird it was for Emily being raised not to call her father...well, father.
Then why the name Emily Kaldwin ,it should be Emily Attano
Corvo is from karnaka and of low birth it be cobtriversial for them to marry or to admit emily is a iligitamet child born out of wedlock
Indeed I believe so
yes in most simple sense even becore dishonoured 2 mentioned this the spin of novels and the creative director in interviews stated their biologically related.
Definitely! Made this video before a lot of that info was available though :) I feel like some people still argue over it though for whatever reason haha
@@EllyTheGeek i dont know when exact the novel came out tbh
Lol, i was wishing that corvo would marry Calista, but turns out he banged the empress and had a daughter.....
In dishonored 2 in the last mission one of the dialouges is something like you shouldnt have messed with my daughter
still don't know, just played the hide and seek mission with her and she said "if you won't merry my mom, would you merry me?"...well it could just be a to young to realize thing but still I'm just gonna stay on edge about the whole thing lol
Something I didn't touch on in the video was that Emily may have been unaware of the fact that Corvo was her father at that point because of the risk of Jessamine + Corvo perhaps getting in trouble for their relationship? Makes sense that their relationship was totally not allowed and if it was known Corvo may not have been able to remain the Royal Protector. And refers to Corvo as "daddy" more as a father figure rather than being actually aware that he is her father. It's a possibility I guess. But if you need proper proof, I'd just read developer commentary on Twitter, in interviews, and watch the actual gameplay released at E3 for some confirmation :)
+EllyTheGeek lol didn't come to mind for that being the reason, I do believe :) but I've watched a lot of lore videos and always learned to expect the unexpected, like one thing can mean a hundred different things, like when it said "together they had a child named Emily" the word "had" in that sentence could also mean, they could have found Emily as a baby, abandoned, while they were together and had her as their own, but I just researched a little more, she had Emily two years after being crowned and a tweet by Harvey Smith saying that she was Courted by many others but never married for being loyal to Corvo, under pressure for being the only royal blood left, she could have been forced to conceive a new heir, and with the harsher time's of that era, Corvo could of made the exception of letting it happen because what they felt was true love towards one another and nothing will stand in the way of that, but people believed that emily was born of the affair, showing that they could have conceived and let another believe that they were the father, making Emily unknown to the whole thing, I do see Corvo as the father though, just saying lore can be tricky xD sorry this was a long comment and I wasn't trying to disprove you or anything like that, I just love poking at lore like this to try and further its story, but I really liked the video ^.^
Totally fine! We all love to speculate (I'm one of those haha) And thank you I'm glad you did!
+PotatoFarts :D how long did it take u to write that
lol i can't remember how long it actually took but i know it felt like forever xD
Yes
so how his wife called Jessamine kaldwin not Jessamine attano
They are not married
Pierre Shady Because in that time it wasn't uncommon for Royalty to have illegitimate children or affairs with commoners. But it was forbidden for Royalty to Marry Non-Royalty/commoners. Carvo is an commoner. Their whole relationship had to be kept secret. Which is why Emily doesn't have Carvo's last name and the reason why the truth about Carvo beeing Emily's father was also kept secret. You find this out in a secret from where there some documents where Jessamine talks about everything. Including Carvo being Emily's father.
Is granny rag in dishonord 2
Jaykwoun Woodard No she was killed by Corvo in the first Dishonored
Her hand is
Jaykwoun Woodard no sadlly no
yes he i
Yes
That could be true because Emily calls Corvo for her father on her drawings. So that could be a thing but also not really. All the other people are saying that Corvo was the empress's bodyguard and not husband but Emily is calling Corvo for her Dad because she dosen't have one or that Corvo acts like a father to her. So this theory could be a real good one.
Are you familiar with affairs
@@nekogamer2508 😏
Yes
gay
Why is this gay?
Actually I don't think Corvo is a homosexual, but ok.
glad you liked the greatest joke of all time
Rapid Steve ?
Daniel k
I would be much cooler if Corvo wasn't her father. Like you know, as if he was so trusted friend of Empress so he became almost family member and Emily would like to see him as father. And when he was framed for murder it was a matter of honor to save Emily and to justify the confidence of Empress' and Emily's. But no, they turned it into a freaking Santa Barbara with that "Jess is my girlfriend and Emily is my daughter so vengeance crap time!"
... It *was* a matter of honour, too. You'd think you'd have noticed from, jee, I don't know... the *title* ? DisHONOURED
I agree.
Wow. Really makes Corvo a fornicating jerk. And he was lovers with the empress and it wasn't until right before she died that they were going to marry? What the hell?
I feel like they retconned the hell out of this because people couldn't understand adoptive parents or that someone could care about a child that wasn't theirs.
For ten years no less before talk of marriage. Non commit all coward. I feel less sorry for him.
+David Umstattd Wtf are you talking about?
To be fair, there were lots of hints in the first game that heavily implied that Corvo was Emily's father (which according to dev interviews was intentional). I have also never heard anyone say that they wouldn't care about Emily if she and Corvo weren't related so I have no idea what makes you think that this is a "retcon" made specifically for that reason. Plus, Corvo was originally just a commoner before he became the Royal Protector. It's possible that people wouldn't have looked his and Jessamine's relationship favorably which is why they kept it a secret.
Part of the reason I liked Corvo as a character so much was because he chose to care about Emily even though she wasn't his daughter, but because it was his duty and he actually cared about her. The whole fathership thing kinda makes all his actions feel arbitrary.
And him sleeping with the empress without marrying her makes him feel like a total horrible person. The whole point of the story is how he's this upstanding honorable guy who's good with kids and loyal who is surrounded by tyrants traitors and brigands. Now he's just another brigand. Which makes the world seem like something not worth saving.
Dude, _what the fuck_. Corvo is just a commoner he can't just marry the *Empress*, even if he is her lover and has a child with her. That is not how things work.
Also, why would *that* make him a horrible person? He clearly loves the Empress and Emily and cares a lot about them. If he could he would marry Jessamin, but Dunwall's high society doesn't allow such thing. And just by the way, maybe it was *Jessamin* who said they should keep it a secret? Because *she* is the Empress and *she* makes the rules in her relationship with Corvo.
Except there is a book on corvo's life in the palace which says "Emily chose him as protector when she was 12 and he was 18" which makes them being father and daughter impossible
Might want to play Dishonored 2 then :)
EllyTheGeek that was at the very start of dishonored 2
Anthony Corrigan I read that book and I think it said all Empresses and Emporers chose their Royal Protector at 12
You haven't play dishonored 2. It was Jessamine who picked Carvo as her protector at age 12.
... How does that make it "impossible"? How?
I agree that there is a father/daurghter like relationship here but she does not know he is her father at this time because if you keep talking to Emily at the beginning of the game she will say"if you won't marry mother will you marry me"
That's the Elektra complex, it's pretty common. And besides, in that time, incest was encouraged.
