- Riley and Super Dave head out to Calabogie Ontario for a little weekend ride. We don't really have any fixed plans but the area is so loaded with good trails that we figure we can just wander about. Then there was trouble!

Brilliant That was documenting all event of 701 failing to start and towing action was brilliant👍
It was a fun day in the end. Does that make us masochists?
Great video, thanks! Learned a tow lesson years ago out riding with my significant other. Me on my old beater klr250, her on an ancient DT 100. 20k north of lake Louisa near Laurel, came across some downed branches and easily crossed it with my klr, when I crossed with the DT, a branch jammed the wheel and snapped the chain. Were we ever screwed then with no douche rope. Tied my boot lace to the klr and to a 10ft branch, set my wife on the klr (never rode it and could barely tiptoe it) with the branch firmly secured under my arm 🤔, off we went! Longest 20kms of my riding career. Never so happy to see the cottage! Douche like rope has been part of gear ever since. Love the idea of standing on the rope on towed bike! Sorry for the long post.
We tried to wrap around the peg but mine have spikes so the strap was just stuck on there so we went with the clip. I think next time I will use the metal ring on the douche rope somehow to create a release.
That was really fun to watch. Good job guys.
Thanks Tomas.
Great video with good company. Thanks a lot
Thank you for sharing your rides and looking forward to more great content in the near and far future!
More coming!
Learned allot today. Thanks for putting this up. Thanks ATV guy's too! 👍 Man, What a day!
The ride ended early but we still had a good time and ended up with a bit of a story to tell. Can't ask for more.
Less Adventure Riding but still an Adventure and you learned something. One of the first things I did after getting my KLR650 was remove the kickstand safety. It is much safer since all the electronic parts are tucked up in the frame. Wish I had friends like you guys.
Hey William. Just remember that the videos are heavily edited to make us seem much nicer and more fun than we really are. Cheers.
Great video (as usual!). Quite an experience you guys had. Cheers to Dave!
Dave is a good egg. Talks a bit funny though.
The most memorable rides are not always the easiest rides, good learning curve there for you and your viewers so thanks for sharing it ! Keep the vids coming .
Very true. Sometimes I think we actually get excited when something goes wrong.
good adventure, and lucky you with this ATV guys roaming around, thanks for another entertaining vid.
Without the ATVs we would still be out there.
Awesome video as always Riley! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Dave.
Thanks for the reminder... been meaning to address the side-stand switch on my '18.
Nice job Dave ! The best rope tugger we know🇨🇦🏍
Dave has many skills!
Great work guys!!
Collett communications communicators have worked flawlessly for three of us for 10 years.
Haven't heard that name in a while. Snag is we are all Sena equipped so a change would entail the whole crew moving over. Someday when one of us snaps maybe.
You have no idea how much hate I’ve received for criticising these stupid sensors that can kill your ride. Illogical as hell.
But from our point of view, you gave us some great footage of your experiences. Much better than fake TV jeopardy crap. Thank you for sharing. Very nicely done guys.
I hear you. Lots of people seem to lose their humanity and common sense once they get behind the keyboard.
Awesome Players So true. When I was a member of a number of really great groups on the vastly superior alternative to FarseBook: Google Plus (before they shut it down), we used to get infiltrated by Israeli Hasbarah agents and ex US marines that claimed to be Christians, yet advocated killing children in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria etc. So I used to expose them. I became quite well known as a top troll buster. But it takes hours to deal with such nonsense.
Now I tend to just enjoy myself. Your vids are great. It’s refreshing to watch Canadians instead of your more brash southern neighbours.
My grandfather (who was born in Chicago in 1893) was living in Canada when the bankers finally managed to get WW1 going, so he joined the Canadian Machine Gunner Corps, and was among the men who took Vimy Ridge.
He had a few jobs in Canada including working for Timothy Eatons and planting trees on the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
I like the idea of visiting some day. Maybe such things will be possible again. Maybe not.
Ride safe
Peace
Wow man you guys are really Awesome players for sure . You guys kept your cool even in those kind of situations and even joke after all that adventure ride. Eagerly waiting for the next video. Just completed watching all of your old video a month ago and just kept waiting for your latest video and here it is just over for now.
We were never in any real danger. Was just going to be a pain in the butt. Luckily those ATV guys saved us from a lot of hard work.
@@AwesomePlayers so who's the douche at the last 🤣🤪
Great video as always! I've not had a need to tow another bike (yet), but will be picking up a suitable strap for that eventuality. It's always the trips where something goes wrong that make for memorable adventures.
True. No one sits around years later talking about the ride where nothing happened.
The next ATV rider I see gets a big open mouthed kiss. Thanks guys!
Wait in until the virus threat is a bit lower!
Good learning experience for you guys and us. I love the Calabogie area and can't wait for spring to get back there again.
Ron Timber will be back there a few time’s this season if all goes to plan.
@@AwesomePlayers maybe we'll bump into you there.
Ron Timber should be there for the Boogie in September.
That first bridge looked exhausting. I thought I wanted an Adventure Bike... I'll keep to my spindly KTM 300. Great audio, video and commentary. I really enjoyed this.
Bruce Jones Everything is a compromise. Some days we do 500kms including several hours of highway which might not be fun on a 300.
A simple failure that leaves you stranded is a DESIGN FLAW.
Yup. Still I knew about it so in the end my bad.
is there gear sensor cable, if u disconnect that, might be solution?
@@AwesomePlayers
@@Treileriveereetaja There is a sensor but if any sensor doesn't report it is no go.
@@AwesomePlayers you can't short it out to trick it into thinking its good?

Great to see a new vid Riley! It is amazing that so many dual sports have this built in Achilies heel.
Seems to be standard these days. I knew it was a weak point so really my fault in the end.
Check out the Tenere 700

Another epic AP adventure! Thanks Riley
You bet!
@@AwesomePlayers Any chance we'll see an episode featuring Henrik any time soon?
@@godfreytomlinson2282 Not too likely as he is into sailboats the last few years.
That's a great video, a great time, and a great experience! Very nice
We learned a lot for certain. Sadly if I had just bought the parts as I had planned we would have been stopped for 5 minutes!
@@AwesomePlayers I guess that's a mantra we should all adopt when out and about, better to have what you don't need, than to need what you don't have! Cheers!
Good to see you guys again. Great adventure.
I once got a good friend very angry with me. I (bike to bike) towed him for about 5 miles on some very sandy dirt roads. I may have been a bit too speedy. He wouldn't talk to me for hours after that.
You do feel at the mercy of the person towing for sure. A great trust building exercise.
Hi Riley & Dave, great video as usual! Your video was just in time as we now live near the Calabogie area! We had added a tow strap to our bike kit a few months ago, never know, we just might need it! The only thing we don't look forward to on the trails is the bugs :)
Nice to hear from you. Have you joined the BMA? Great group. We will be there for the Calabogie Boogie in September.

A new video! I towed my 11 yo sons small ATV out of the woods with my motorcycle a few years ago. It was a short distance through some large ruts up and down a few hills and a couple with a couple of large mud/water holes. It was exhausting and painful. You are very lucky the nice ATV guys showed up.
Dave would just be a bug stripped skeleton if they had not come along.
Thanks Riley.
Oh yeah, that was well worth waiting for.
Thanks Neil.
Another awesome video! It was by watching the Awesome Players that I have decided to get my own F800GS, 3 years ago, which I had to sell after 8 months before moving to the Netherlands.
That sucks. What are you riding in the Netherlands?
@@AwesomePlayers There are all on bicycles there....
I got my f800gs in 2014 I think that was before I knew Riley had one
Solid move by those ATV riders saving the day!
The roommate and I got a set of Cardo Packtalk Bolds and it was a night and day difference over our Senas. Much clearer comms and more reliable.
We will switch one day. Sadly we all have Senas at the moment.
Agreed, had Sena 20s, was fine for 2 people, anytime wanting to communicate with 3 or more, was constant headache and poor sound quality. Got the Cardo Packtalk Bold and all out pairing issues were resolved. The range in both Sena and Cardo were the same, but the fact that it resolved the pairing nightmare and the horrible popping crackling noises, plus the fact the Cardo was waterproof where the Sena was not, it was worth us all switching. If just using solo or with one other person, the Sena is fine.
@@Wandering_i Next upgrade cycle we will really have to give the Cardo a serious look.
Awesome Players FortNine tested some and he, Ryan, found Cardo the best.
Rick Seibel That was a good video. Of course the Sena 50 is coming out and it will be awesome.........
Yaaaaasssss! Finally a new upload!!😃🙌🏻🙌🏻
JGguns1 Hope to see you tomorrow am!
Been waiting for this !
excellent gents
Great to see this vid - that was quite the adventure! About time to get some 2020 video footage!
Season starts in April/May. We have a bunch of rides booked alredy.
When getting towed on a bike it is much safer to stand firmly on the towing strap on the pedal, then you can lift your leg and let the strap go instead of getting pulled down.
Great idea.
ya that is the plan
Yep that works well. If you have a nasty spot and have to sort of paddle etc then you can tie on for that moment but get the tie out and do the stand method. It also will save your bum when you are on the less desirable end of the rope. To be fair I have only used shipping straps for this (the kind the BMW’s are shipped with) and they will not get wedged badly in the pegs. I also use some of the same kind of wire pulling rope some times and I think it may wedge and catch in the pegs preventing you from lifting your foot and getting the release effect. But either way as you just have the wire pulling rope I would try that over a hard tie in. You guys worked out the opposite side of the bike part it seems. That is much easier to keep your self out of trouble.
It seems that the best advice for what ever type of rope you have is to get an ATV what a stroke of luck and kindness.
@@wb5plj They saved the day for sure.
Always a treat to couch ride with you lot. Surely you've broken enough stuff by now to make some garage vids too...
Few more coming from last year. Also need to do some work before the season starts.
So glad to see a new video!!! 😁 Sorry I couldn't be here for the live event though! About these stupid stand switches, I don't understand why manufacturers aren't forced to provide a free bypass module with all motorcycles they sell, or at least a way to disable it in case of emergency. It's one thing to keep people safe, but making it this hard to bypass, on purpose, isn't what I would call safe in many situations.
Yeah it is really odd that they make it so hard to bypass and then they sell a kit to do just that.
You made it out, thats the important part. In the future though, hold the tow rope on your handle bar with your hand. This gives you the ability to disengage from the tow vehicle when things get nuts. I believe from my experience is a much safer way to tow in the trails. Nice to see a new video!!!
Will have to do a few tests this summer so that the next time we have our act together.
I found myself saying “Riley, it’s up to you to keep that tow rope taught!” You finally caught on! 👍
Rick Seibel I’m a slow learner but a learner nonetheless!
Awesome Players As a farm boy in the early ‘60’s, I’d plenty of towing experience. Machinery was different......principle remains the same. Great video. Stay healthy.
Well done players 👍🏻

Thanks for the good content! Looks like I need to check the sidestand-switch on my 690 R for failure proofness.
Cheers from Germany! 🇨🇦🇩🇪
Yes I have been towed in a similar fashion myself, the towed rider has to be careful the line does not tangle with either tyre by keeping well to the left of the front rider and use a wide turning arc on right turns to clear the rear tyre of the front rider from the rope. Also remember to only wrap it once over the towed footpeg so its held in place by the riders foot and can be released in case of any issues. At least all was well at the end of the day and you both got out safely and those chaps were very helpful in getting you out of a pickle.
We definitely need to perfect our towing technique. Ii think we will do a little practice to try out a few things this summer.
Haha. Enjoyed all the problems.
Trouble makes for better stories for sure.
Hopefully most of us will live your ordeal vicariously through this video. I have yet to deal with my side stand switch on my 2007 BMW G650X Challenge so I might be next.
Probably a simple bypass would work on that bike.
That happened to me on my first real single track run on my klr ..luckily day before I saw a video on very issue.
KLR nice and simple!
Awesome, players!
Thanks Torben.
Looks like a great ride until until the breakdown. Now to get a bypass switch for the 690
Yup. Be ready.
Or you can take Mark's switch in an emergency.
Hi Guys, im looking for an upper bar clamp which is made of one piece, like you use it on the F 800, Could you tell me where you got it? :)

Makes me old Dr650 look like a keeper! Looks like you imported some bugs from here, Yukon!
I thought Yukon skeeters could carry you away.
@@AwesomePlayers and yours don't? lol
@@Wildbillsgarage I was up in the arctic once on a contract when the skeeters hatched. Huge black ones that seemed twice as big as the local ones here. They didn't seem to like the taste of the locals as much as those of us from "South". Pretty much ended going outdoors for us.
Riley, get yourself another F800GS... you will be happy again... is always something with the Husqvarna...
Might get something new... next year.
Ideally, the tow rope should pass through the foot-peg of the bike being towed with 1 wrap so there is some strain taken but the rider has the loose end at the handle bar so he can release it if he gets in trouble. Otherwise he could be dragged quite a ways.
Good advice.
Miss your videos guys! and that must have been some record! 51 kms of douche rope towing! normally its just a few feet! i do hope tho that that never gets topped! haha!
that was quite lucky timing with those guys coming along when they did!
Weird part and I forgot to mention it in the video was that I almost didn't ask for a tow. I guess my pride was telling me that we could do it on our own. Thankfully the voice of reality was stronger.
@@AwesomePlayers i think a problem solving person such as you was thinking that you can handle it but presented with a easier/better opportunity. you made a wiser choice. :)
looking at how you towed bike. I would have not clipped your rope to footpeg but roll it a few times around and use your right boot to hold it, if emergency you can be free from towrope. I got towed on by drz400 a few times...
I agree. We have worked on our technique since then.
Yep, I deleted that switch first week I had my 690.
So, I guess I need to order that side stand bypass kit from Vanache for my 2018 701 before the TET ride this summer :-D
I would. I also bought the 2k Ohm resistor and tested just sticking it in the plug and it worked.
@@AwesomePlayers But that will not work on the 2018 I guess. :-( I will try :-)
@@palknig4569 Not supposed to. Worth a try I guess.
Even better - get totally rid of of that whole loop for side stand.....no need for any bypasses ....
Less is more ....
@@istra70 If the computer doesn't see the circuit it is a no start.
The sidestand thing in the 701 is just plain stupid. What was wrong with a normal switch that you can bypass in those kind of situations? Btw great and nice video, have been waiting for it for quite some time 😊
Sadly I knew it was a weak point and never got of my arse and did anything about it so in the end my fault.
Woukd a Suzuki DR650 or Kawasaki KLR 650 do as well on the trails you ride as these bikes?
Yes. The 701 is more advanced but at the speeds we ride the KLR and DR are great.
I know how you feel. I did a 30 minute run and I was whipped.

Just watched another video of you guys. Just realized you're from Quebec. I grew up in Montreal and live in New Brunswick now. Where are the trails? Laurentians?
Bruce Jones These we’re north of Ottawa but we usually ride near our home of Montreal.
@@AwesomePlayers I used to ride in terrebonne quite a bit on the ex-military trails. Probably no trails there now.
@@brucejones5258 I think I was out that way in the 80's. Where there a bunch of sandpits? I think i is developed now.
@@AwesomePlayers Yes two huge sandpits... looked like a scene out of Road Warrior. Best part used to be the single track and ATV trails. Was there also during the 80s.
Pretty late to the party but I read on the Adv Rider forum that you could possibly short or ground the neutral circuit to fool the bike into thinking it's in neutral thus overriding the sensor input. I couldn't say for certain without testing but a possible hack for trail emergencies.
Not on the 701. Sensor sends a signal not a simple switch contact.
You have adventure bikes and now you got the adventure..... Isn't that what they suppose to do ???
That is what I've always thought.
Fun video...... I'll be getting 50' of pull tape from the electric shop at work!
Get a carabiner and make a loop so you don't have to tie knots. Wrap the end with clip around something and cli into the loop.
Tip when your being towed, just drag your brakes to keep the tow rope tight!
MN dual sport and adventure Yeah that would have been smart at the start for sure.
Can you please tell me what saddlebags you"re using and what size?
They were the smallest Wolfman bags that they made. Not made anymore I don’t think. I looked but don’t see them on the site anymore. Closest now is the E12 which are a little bigger. wolfmanluggage.com/collections/saddle-bags/products/e-12-saddle-bags-wp

I kid...I joke...but though slow, you do output more enjoyable content than pretty much anybody else in this category... anticipation is about on par to waiting on the 2nd season of the Mandalorian.
Droverification I skipped ahead to June 2019! I guess I need to watch the Mandalorian now. Cheers.
A side stand bypass is a required modification for all off road bikes. If you don't do this you are asking to get stranded.
Yup. Carry two variations on it now. It was always on my list to do but just never got around to it.
Hindsight you should have given the tow guy your buddies helmet. Plus, pulling more from the center of your bike is way better but I'm betting you already know that.
Footpeg worked well. The key in my experience is to keep the tow point low. If you connect in the centre you have to be pretty high and then the rope is in line with the front wheel so any slack and you roll over it. My 2 cents anyways.
Suppose, if you don't know you have to do what you can. But for future reference, if you have to tow a bike, always a half wrap around the head stock and the loose lead on the grip held with your hand only. Its a central pull and can be released in a n instand.
Hi Mupp. I really don't like towing from high on the bike. To easy to be pulled over. Footpeg wrap didn't work with my strap as it would get snagged on the sharp pins of my pegs. Working on a better solution for this season.
@@AwesomePlayers far more dangerous at the pegs and no emergency release. Only passing on what I was shown to do by an experienced rider.
The old 660 Ten had a handy hoop below the triple clamp for just that.
@@muppdog390 On the BMW official course and a few others I have seen it always the peg. I have a tug strap right over the fender I tried it there and as soon as there was an angle over I went. I did do the bars once on the road years ago and it was OK. On this tow there were a few snaps on the line that lifted the bike off the ground. They were so sudden I don't think I could have released in time. I still think the release is a good idea but I would do it at the peg.
@@AwesomePlayers something to keep in mind
Bluetooth is a terrible format for bike to bike comms if you're not right next to each other. However, I hear the Cardo Packtalk system beats Sena and is cheaper. Personally for comms I use portable HAM radios for range, but that's a way more serious commitment for your use.
I really like the duplex and VOX function. We are just chatting so proper radio procedure would be a hassle. For real comms I could see some actual radios would be better.
built in relability issue brilliant .///
Yup. Safety first. Silly but an easy fix.
OMG, I was so tense watching the bike tow after you gator clipped that douche rope to Riley's bike. There is no way to let go if you needed to. You're lucky it didn't all go pear shaped.
On my one experience towing another rider, unbeknownst to me he had tied the rope to his foot peg. On a left turn, the rope crossed his front wheel (because we didn't know the left turn technique). He went down and was catapulted with the bike into a jersey barrier. Fortunately only injury was a bruised tendon on the very tip of his left hand ring finger, but I really learned to make sure the towee doesn't tie the rope to the bike.
We tried to wrap around the peg but mine have spikes so the strap was just stuck on there so we went with the clip. I think next time I will use the metal ring on the douche rope somehow to create a release.
Riley is pear shaped.
I burned the clutch out on my bike one day on a rocky hill climb. It was totally cooked to the point that the bike wouldn't move with the clutch fully out. A kind fellow on an ATV towed me out of there and it took us at least two hours to get to the trail head. We bikers sometimes bemoan the ATV guys, but the truth is, nothing would have saved my bacon that day other than an ATV. I still hate side by sides though.
mmaaddict78 Usually we have 4 or 5 guys so we could have made it through the tough stuff but with two guys the ATV was the only answer.
Bru, one tows bikes peg to peg, never an exception: from right peg towing to left peg towed. That way the towed bike can use the rear brake! So that's the opposite to what you guys did... oh well, now you know ;-)
Had no issues using the rear brake.
Why the actually eff would they make the newer bikes so hard to bypass that switch.
Lawyers would be my guess.
Awesome Players Yeah, just such a stupid design like for a normal road bike I understand but for a bike they know people will take off road such as silly thing to not make easy to bypass.
I was on the fence about dirt riding this made me decide FOEGET IT i ll just watch and stay on the pavement
Don't let us dissuade you. Riding on the dirt has been so much more rewarding that street riding. The adversity creates memories that far outshine anything that ever happened in the hundreds of thousands of KMs I rode on the street. I've been riding on the street since 1987 or so and only on dirt since 2010. Back in the old days I would do sometimes 30,000+ kms in a season. Now I do about 3-5000 KMs. Yet somehow they are packed with great adventures and far more memories.
I'm getting itchy just watching this. Damn bugs.
We don't usually notice them because we are moving but when we have a flat or other issue the bastards are on us in seconds.
Hmm I may have to get a quad
They make great tow trucks.
I got tired of bugs decades ago. This mesh net is big enough if you stop for a short while, it fits over your helmet (Don't ride with it on, duh) and if you take off the helmet, put a hat on and put the net on. Comes with a bag, about the size of a tennis ball. On Amazon search for "TIMBUKTOO MOSQUITO NETS - Midges Head Net - Mosquito, Midge, NoSeeUm Protection - X-Large, Comfortable, High Visibility, Durable, Insect Repellent for Gardeners and Outdoor Lovers, Gift Bag Included". About $6 USD. It doesn't have repellant on it, it just keeps them from getting to you.
Thanks Dex I will check it out.
@@AwesomePlayers You can probably stuff it in your tool tube or tool bag. From experience, when I get out tools, its going to be a while.
You know, these companies have a choice: They can make garbage that leaves you stranded due to a simple failure of an unnecessary switch/sensor, or they can make something that defaults to a rideable state. I pity anybody who tries to ride a 701 seriously in Africa... there ain't no ATVs around to bail you out. I know a guy on a pimped 701 who got to ride in "limp mode" from Aswan, Egypt to Nairobi (over 4000 km) thanks to a faulty gear position sensor that could not be bypassed or fixed on the trail (Husky basically told him he's out of luck, go find a dealer). It ruined the best riding in all of the East-side of Africa for him on what was probably a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I wish Husky et al would get serious about this stuff. Meanwhile, I won't be swapping over from my XR650R anytime soon... the only sensor it has is the Grin-O-Meter which measures happiness based on openness of the throttle!
That is the nature of all new machines it seems. My new truck is only a six cylinders but has 12 injectors, multiple O2 sensors, etc... it would not be my choice for a round the world trip.
Give me a good 250 cc enduro (I've had two), and it makes it so much easier than those huge bikes.
Very true. But it wouldn't satisfy our masochistic personalities!
I hear a Japanese bike can be bypassed!
Not sure. All these bikes keep getting more and more complicated.
I get why creators want to put up these premieres, but I still get a bit bummed out with that excitement when there is an APORMC upload, and the let down when it is a premiere :/

That would be a Win Win for both You, Her & all of us other Motorcycle Channels. (yahoo)
I will try and check it out.
Wonderful (smiles) Maybe double-check the time I gave you by visiting her Channel now. (Motorcycle Momma) I always mess out the time zone conversations.
I drowned my drz on the trail. Was full of mud and no chance of starting. My buddy towed me out with his 701 uphill. Took us 2 hours in mud and bugs. When we got to flat ground he forgot he was towing me and went to fast. I ate shit. Only time I've crashed that bike at speed in the 5 years I've owned it. And it wasn't even a running bike 😂
Yikes. I was telling someone that when you see someone doing those trust exercises where you fall backwards and someone catches you that it is nothing compared to being towed on a bike.
I cheat the battery life. This gets really complicated if you are using the GoPro adapter for sound. If you are, comment and I'll go into ad nauseum detail. But I just don't run the GoPro with an internal battery. I use a X~PWR-H5 All-Weather External Power Kit for GoPro HERO5, HERO6, HERO7 Black & Hero (its just a cable and a clamp to keep it waterproof that attaches to the stock GoPro frame) and an external battery brick. I use a V30 400GB chip, remove the internal battery, connect the external 20KmaH brick and record 12 hours straight. It works, seriously.
Most bricks are smart. So, your GoPro runs, tells the brick my battery is low, it charges and then the GoPro tells the brick I'm charged and tells the brick to stop charging, and never tells it to charge again. So, with a dead battery, you get about two hours of video. With a charged battery, the GoPro never asks to be charged. I've bitched to GoPro, but I guess they don't care. The Hero, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 all behave this way.
Another dirty trick, buy another Sena, use the earbud port and a male to male 3.5mm cable to a Sony digital recorder, mesh or Bluetooth connect it, and you are recording what gets said on intercom and whatever motor sounds don't get cancelled. You can throw that all into a bag and forget it.
I bought my DL1000AL8 because it is no frills. And no crazy kickstand switch design. Just short it. KISS.
So, the 701, imho, sux. the KTMs sux, the GS's sux, the AT, with factory skid plate, sux. Yamaha ADVs sux. Kawasaki's and Suzuki's and dual sport Honda's are the only break it and bend it straight bikes out there. Cheap and ugly is good. :-). I guess the others are okay if you are rich.
The towing, once on road, I always go with a something on towed bike high and center then out to the clutch side bar end, with just a hand to release, like between the triple tree, then up to the bar. Yeah, I've towed a lot of bikes, usually a drunk that crashed, in my 45 years riding.
Hi Dex. Thanks for all the info. I have that Power Kit as well. Sadly the kit doesn't leave me anywhere to plug in the mic. I also experimented with external audio using a Sony voice recorder. I really like the simplicity of having the audio embedded on the video as I use loop mode. If I was just doing free run a seperate audio unit would work for sure. Halfway through last season I ran a system with two extra mics where one was a second Sena boom and the other was a Sena flat mic in the helmet speaker. I soldered it all up and that went into the adaptor. Rode through some crazy rain and it survived. Got separate audio channels and the system was not connected to the Sena. Worked really well. You will see/hear some of that in the upcoming videos. Only drag was the battery changes. I rolled in 1080 so an hour plus. Wasn't too bad as we stop quite often to relax or at an obstacle. This year I think I will put a GoPro 7 on my Helmet with the audio adapter, no battery, and an external brick. Have some silicone putty to seal around the input into the GoPro. Will do some tests before the season starts. May take the headphone out of the Sean with a split to the helmet speakers and try that as well.
@@AwesomePlayers The problem with using the external GoPro audio adapter without a battery is that the GoPro has to be powered and on, before connecting the audio adapter. My answer to that was to cut a slot in the gopro frame so it could be inserted into the frame with the audio adapter connected.
You put a battery in the gopro and start it. you connect the audio adapter and the gopro sees it. you connect external power to the audio adapter, to power it and the gopro. Now you remove the battery from the gopro and the gopro stays powered via external brick, and you insert that into the frame/mount with the cable thru the cut slot.
Any time you power off the gopro, you have to go thru that crap again.
That was with both hero 6 black and hero 7 black, and two different gopro audio adapters, so it wasn't me. Go pro could fix it by putting a on/off switch on the audio adapter, one that turns off the audio adapter but lets power thru the adapter. then you'd just connect it, turn on the gopro, then turn on the adapter.
Good luck with it. If you figure out a way using the audio adapter without the crazy stuff, I'll be interested in hearing. I have two of them and they are worthless to me presently. And I own mounts that were designed to hold them.
@@D.E.X That is weird. On my 7 I always turn on the GoPro after the audio adapter is plugged in and it works with no issue. I guess the issue is when there is no battery.... that would be a real pain. Will have to experiment as all that swapping around would be a deal breaker.
Suggest he gets another bike.
Nah. No bike is perfect. Everyone I've ever owned has had it's flaws. Was an easy fix.
I got a cardio pak talk radio. Total junk
Anything more than 300 feet and they quit.
Rotor None of these systems seems 100% for sure . My buddy Ivan complained and Sena once again says they have an update coming out....
@@AwesomePlayersMy pack talk Battery is less than half of its former self at only 3 years. I suspect every manufacturer has this built-in end of life. After a 10 ish year customer knowing all the pros and cones of cardo through several models. Me and my Buddies are DONE. Switching to 2 way radio from Rugged Radios. Now We all have true 2+ miles communications yes there's a wire from radio in are camo pac to helmet and yes there's no bullshit of any other fn problems, Ya turn it on and it works every time. never any hasel. NO endless blogs with folks having problems. done. I dont give 2 shits about any other features all we and my buddies want is comes with each other.
@@rotor676 Looks like they have some cool stuff. I do like the fact with the Sena style systems you can just chat. Maybe after the next firmware update it will all be good...... just kidding....
Thanks for the video. Husqvarna has just lost one potentinal customer. Seems like greedy stupid idiots work there.
Every bike has it's week points. The 701 issue is easily solved and I knew about in advance so it was my bad as well as Husqvarna's.
@@AwesomePlayers indeed, but this is not a usual bike, its main purpose is trailing. And doing such things with this kind of bikes is just unacceptable
Can I ask one more question? What do you think about fuel tank of 701? Do I understand correctly that it is made of plastic and is not protected so some piece of stone or wood can get between the tank and the wheel and damage the tank?
@@evgeniybeschastnov4627 No issues with fuel tank getting damaged. Lots of guys I know with 690s and 701s and I have never heard of that.
@@AwesomePlayers thank you! ;)
You both need to lose weight and get more fit. Believe me it helps, not a criticism just an observation, we're men not wimps. Great ride.
TR5T I hear you. I’m down 40lbs since this video was shot.
What an engineering fail. Stuff like this really irks me about KTM
rahgahnah I think all the brands are heading this way.
