I motorcycled thru that island with two of my brothers back in 2005. We ended up staying in cabins before hitting up the ferry at South Baymouth the following morning. It was a long time ago, but i remember everyone being so nice and friendly. At the pub where we ate, we made friends. The place we stayed was maybe "bayside resort", all i remember was swimming in the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron. We didn't have towels or the normal "stay in a cabin" stuff, so the owner lent us a few items. Overall a great experience and a beautiful place.

People are really nice. I was going there regularly until about 1982 or 3 and it is amazing how little it has changed in 40 years.

It would. A few feet offshore it is well over a hundred feet deep. You can see very far as the water is so clear.
