The thickness of the pliers looked perfect for those barrels. If you installed scissors instead of the pliers would you have had to cut the barrels shorter?
There is a bit of play due to the width of the scales. About 0.5mm that you can gain/lose just by adjusting. After that, yes, I'd probably have to grind the pivot barrels down some.

Hello! Nice to have an audience from Taiwan! These scales are from Aliexpress. The screws are called "torx" screws. I have not found them sold anywhere separately.
Hi, great videos! Do you think it would be possible to replace the big and small Victorinox blades with a wood saw and a metal saw(/file)? The Cyber Tool M with that modification (and a separate dedicated folding knife) would be the perfect combination for me.
Thanks. These torx screws came with the scales as a set. I have not been able to find the torx barrels and screws separately. DecustomForge on Etsy used to have them.
How much would a SAK in that configuration ballpark? Do you have to tap the holes for the torx screws or is it already threaded behind the red plastic?
A build like this costs around $340. These scales are already drilled and come with the torx screws. It is convenient, but limited to a certain amount of layers.
These screws and pivot barrels came with the scales. DeCustomForge makes pivot barrels, but only 2.5mm. So you'd have to drill out the middle tools for them to fit.
Do you think it would be possible to take the blade from a MKM Malga and insert it into a SAK, or combine them i a way? My dream is an Explorer with the Malga blade, and maybe the fork.

I know that the reason why that it turns black is because of the burnt oil on the surface. How i wish you would show us how it looks like when its worn down.
I can not say for sure because I have not seen these scales in 1 or more years. But, I can say that one time I didn't like the way that the flaming turned out and I tried sanding it off. 🥵 It would not sand off, I ended up having to sand blast it off. So, I have a REALLY good feeling that this finish will not get worn down soon. 😅
@@FittoSurvive !!!! Thanks for the quick reply, but I urge you to make one for your daily use, it would make for a good, if not, excellent experiment to see what happens. Regards from the Philippines.

Thank you for the demo on how you blacken titanium!

Hey Cody!
Have you ever figured a faster process to flame / turn the titanium black?
Hello, I have not found a faster method yet.

The screws supplied with these scales fit the tools exactly. No drilling required.

These screws and pivot barrels came with the scales. DeCustomForge makes pivot barrels, but only 2.5mm. So you'd have to drill out the middle tools for them to fit.
Does it matter what oil you use? Also does the temp need to have it at cherry red before the reaction will turn the scales black?
I would recommend using the WD-40 liquid oil. Definitely not motor oil!
