That's basically what I tried to simulate with my Helix. I add the acoustic sim since I don't have an acoustic guitar. What I do (I think it can be done with the Boss Octave) is send the 5th and 6th strings (and a bit of the 4th) only, to the Octave Pedal so I can simulate a bass player while playing. Great sound and tips. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty similar to the setup I used for solo gigs for many years. I did have an overdrive which was nice for adding some attitude to solos or even chords on more edgy or rocking songs. I highly recommend upgrading the delay pedal to something with a tap tempo, saves a lot of knob turning which audiences don't particularly want to watch lol, and also much more effectively locks in your parts with the song. I had the same octave pedal, but I ended up swapping it out for a boss harmonist, which is an oddball pedal that does a ton of really cool things from the octave to a chorus effect to a whammy pedal to three-part harmonies on lead lines. And finally I had a TC Helicon voice live for adding some effects and harmonies to my vocals. I also used a loop pedal with an XLR input so I could run a mic through it and loop some vocal parts too which adds a whole other layer of interest to arrangements.
great video, thanks for some inspiration, ended up with a CH-1, cloudburst, OC-5 and then went for the Strymon Brig for delay instead of the MXR :D What was the song at 6:00 and 10:30?
got a relatively cheap nux optima air, a mini compressor and a tuner in my acoustic board .. just perfect for my acoustic needs .. planning to tryout a bodyrez soon though .. 😊
I use a similar set up, but I have the LR Baggs Venue, the RC 600, the Strymon Dig and Blue Sky. I also use the Octave for bass. I do not have a chorus pedal, but I really love how it sounded here. One thing I have been considering is building out a smaller pedal board. The RC 600 turns the pedal board into a beast cause it's so freaking big. For my more involved gigs I'm running a Roland Handsonic and Keyboard. But man I would love to have a simpler set up for corner in the bar gigs and yours really fits the bill. Thanks!
Nice setup. I have a similar board except at the beginning of the chain I use a TC Impulse loader for acoustic sim with my Yamaha LS6M passive piezo and I put the Fishman at the very end using the XLR out. Cheers.
Great setup but I would change one major thing. Remove that polytuner and get a Peterson stomp mini tuner instead. Smaller footprint, for one thing, and far, far more accurate tuning. Don't believe me? Try it! You won't believe what that tiny bit of extra of fine-tuning makes.
Great vid! very informative. I am interested in the Fishman Platinum. I use a TC Helicon acoustic guitar/vocal processor pedal ("Play Acoustic") when I play live. Would they work together?
You have great playing skills and great tone with that thing. I've seen people use Wah pedals with acoustic for lead with great effect. Curious what pickup you are using.
@@SamHortonMusic I just bought a Taylor 314 50th anniversary with torrefied sound board. Makes me think I can get good plugged in tone with it with some EQ. Thinking of getting a cheap IR loader from TC Electronic.
@@SamHortonMusichad big problems with es2 in Taylor gs mini . Too harsh and brittle . I understand you need 7oz of pressure on piezo crystals . Needs digital tool . Shop couldn’t fix it and gave me my money back .
It’s a Strymon Cloudburst. An excellent reverb pedal but it’s the ensemble switch that adds beautiful synth undertones. Highly recommended and very addictive!
Bonjour. J'ai une question. Si vous pouvez me répondre merci. Dans mon pedalier et pour le son que je recherche, je voudrais donner de ma guitares electro acoustique Une Épaisseur et je me demande si la pedale Octave de boss si je la regle sans delirer trop peut me donner une Épaisseur. Pouvez vous me dire ????

Interesting! Haven't looked into the Helix yet, will check it out for sure. Thanks for watching!
I tried and tried. Helix just didn’t track fast enough for my taste.
@@skylork1990 apologies: English isn’t my first language. What do you mean by “tracking fast enough “?
Repeating the note while you’re playing.
@@skylork1990 Thank you!!
That was awesome! Thank you. That cloudburst has been on my radar for awhile now!
It's so good!
@SamHortonMusic have you heard of the Black Hole pedal? I was thinking about getting that pedal until I seen the cloudburst.

Thanks for the feedback, definitely some nice additions to consider!!
Very cool! Great video.
Thanks!
IS THAT A PICTURE OF IAN ANDERSON IN THE BACKGROUND? He is an incredible musician- love all the Jethro Tull catalog! Great video!
It’s a photo of Heisenberg from the series Breaking Bad

Buena pedalera! Probé hace años el fishman pero lo devolví porque eliminaba las percusiones, una pena.
How did it eliminate the percussions?
Great video…I use many of the pedals as yourself…
Rock on!

Great video man! Nice rundown and explanation! Subbed and looking forward to seeing more!
Cheers for the comment and sub dude. There will be more coming!

Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great demo! Can you explain how the pedals are set up? Are the chorus, reverb, delay, and looper in the Fishman effects loop? Thanks!
They aren’t in the fx loop. Guitar goes into the tuner, octave, EQ, chorus, delay, reverb, looper

Can I ask where did you get the footstomp cover for the cloudburst?
I'm not sure, I bought it second hand and it came like that.
Can you tel us in what order these are connected to each other.
It starts with the tuner and ends with the looper. Tuner, octave, EQ, chorus, delay, reverb, looper
what is the name of that dreamy sounding pedal? Ensemble CLoud?

Yes it could be used at a low volume level to thicken it up. You could also use an EQ
Get yourself an HX stomp dump that thing.
Haha worth checking out then?
