This reminds me what the New Day said on the possibility of a three way match between them. They basically said “we wouldn’t take it seriously and just laugh the whole time. The more I thought about it, they had a point. Why would I want to see them fight when being together was what made them so special.
15:55 There it is, the rivalry that made me "get" wrestling and makes me a sucker for a good brother v brother storyline or matchup. It's super fun to see an example of such from back in the day & from before the hook wasn't as common. Now I'm wondering if it's possible for Kim to cover Owen's brief but memorable time in Japan, given how he was eulogized by a colleague who wound up in the Diet. What little I've seen of his matches there have been great.
Already seen this one, but just wanted to say you do amazing work bringing stories and wrestlers to my attention that I never would have seen or known much about otherwise. Thanks for that, especially with the Japanese promotions, it really helps fill in the blanks in my wrestling knowledge. Keep it up, always look forward to you uploads.
Samoa Joe does his own version of the *nope, walks away* spot. But I want to see someone do Dory's version more often. Babyface hits first move in a comeback attempt? Walk out of the ring. Opponent does an elaborate taunt before going for their finish? F*** this, I'm out.
Just found your channel (i don't know how it went under my radar). Absolutely brilliant, incredibly researched, well presented, and holy crap, is it enjoyable! Looking forward to binging your videos when I have time
the storytelling of this match, in particular the terry fake arm injury and dory's brotherly instincts kicking in, is an absolute masterclass. it has to be studied by any aspiring wrestler.. proving how the funk brothers were 2 of the best of all time. and i was only born in 2003, and i heavily respect this kind of stuff. its not "old timer wrestling" its pure story telling. yeah the fans may not have been receptive, but to me, the build of things as they tell their story, is absolute genius.
Lars and Ole (Storyline brothers of course) feuding in Georgia is really the only one I saw as a kid but you are correct otherwise. I mean I've been watching for over 40 years so I might be wrong but I'm not going to tax my brain since none are obvious to me right now 😂
Looks like UA-cam decided to give Kim's amazing video a block because I got a like from Kim on this video before it was reuploaded. I hope the upcoming videos doesn't get this type of treatment from UA-cam cause Kim's contents are god-tier level content if we consider pureresu content creators and their infamous copyright scenerio. Hoping for you to have a great day ahead. 😊 Also, will we be getting any updates on the upcoming videos like will we be getting any new rivalry series or anything? Just wanted to ask.
this is my favorite wrestling channel right now as i feel like i'm going to school about japanese wrestling and the glory days of all japan pro wrestling. i'd like to thank you for your work and research. my only question is.... are you planning on doing an in-depth look into the dark days of njpw known as... inokism and its effect on japanese pro wrestling at that time?
I'm sure the audience was enjoying in in their own way. No one, and even less here in Japan, wants to see siblings, or people who really care for each other, beat the shit out of each other for entertainment, no one unless they are mentally unstable, that is, and definitely no one wanted to side with either of the two wrestlers because this would not only be seen as extremely disrespectful to the other one, who is an equal, but it would also encourage the attitude that "yeah, I think Dory / Terry is better", and Japanese people will go out of their way to avoid that kind of tribalism even if it is at the cost of being quiet, out of respect, the whole match. But I'm sure that those in attendance there kept a good memory of the fight and, if they kept quiet, it was out of the utmost respect for two gaijin fighters who had earned the love of the audience. Yet again, Kim, excellent video (saw it the other day) and, you know, I know fuck all about wrestling other than what I'm learning with your Puro videos. Highly appreciated!!
I've to watch this match in full but from what i've seen in this video... Man, i personally think it's the type of matches that has aged like milk in middle of the sahara! No disrespect to the Funk brother, they're absolute wrestling legends and by no mean am i trying to deny their legacy (especially Terry). But MMA actually showed how actual fighters react when going through pain and as such, this style of overeacting and overexaggerating like Terry does here really takes me out of the match. I generally don't mind it in most matches because they don't try so hard to play on the grind side but here, it really does. Another reason for this is that match seems to lack the stiff strikes shoot wrestling matches have, which makes the slow grind very repetitive. In other words, i find this style to be way too realistic to be entertaining while at the same time not realistic enough to make suspend my sense of disbelief. Just a weird in between that i personally can't get into for the life of me.
Apologies if you're getting a feeling of deja vu, this had to be reuploaded due to a block. Should hopefully be fine now.
Nothing wrong with watching this story one more time.
Thanks for clarifying! 😊
That’s ok. I could watch this forever, forever, forever…
Just means I get to watch it again.
Okay. I was starting to lose my grasp of time. Haha.

I think this is the first match that I've really felt the storytelling, I am so grateful Kim to you for showing this to me. What a blinder!!!
13:08 is that Haku next to Dory?
That's just how the Japanese fans react. Great classic old school style pro wrestling at its best!

The best storytelling I've seen in a match ever!
I love the Wild Arms music in the background. One of my favorite soundtracks for any game.

Waiting for a Jun Akiyama on DDT video. Or something from Chikara
Terry Funk is my absolute favorite wrestler and would love to see you do more videos on him. I love this channel keep up the amazing work!

Youre gonna be alright kid. No sarcasm at all. Couldnt agree more

The greatest thing you can say about Terry Funk is there will never ever be another Terry Funk
Kim taking us back to Funkytown
Just remember that "Kim" is a man. Not a woman.
so glad I found your wrestling channel
i love this channel!! thank you for this video!!
Great vid, as always. Still hoping for a FMW vid as well. You can even talk about the crappy games in case you haven’t done that yet.
Thanks Kim..awesome as always
Thanks for the video ❤

This guy is great but sneaks so many W’s into every word he says. Does he listen to these? This can be fixed.
It’s alright it’s an accent. But thank god it’s not as bad as pro wrestling Noah’s English commentary’s team 💩 💩
consider that maybe there's a physiological explanation or a regional dialect
Take it easy...
