I'm actually really into the idea of showing the growing transition of the Xenomorph. It's definitely an edge that we haven't seen in depth before. Okay Fede, I see you buddy
This is an action/horror/sci fi movie. Not a biological examination for a made up species of alien life. I'm sure what you want is in one of the books.
Your analysis and deductive reasoning are truly impressive. Having seen the movie yesterday, I can confirm that your accuracy is spot on. I’d rate your insights at 95%. This further supports the idea that trailers often reveal too much of the plot. From now on, I’m sticking to teaser trailers only!
This trailer reveals only enough to give us a hint on what to expect, and that's what makes it that much more amazing. On top of that I like how the horror aspect is gonna play a bigger role in this film, alongside the gore of how dangerous the facehuggers and alien are. One detail that I also found interesting is at 6:05 to 6:06 in the top right you can see something moving. 🎉
I read that the part where the android is motionless has to do with him rebooting for some reason. But as soon as he comes back he starts helping people and actually pulls a facehugger off someone - which was in the trailer where you see the facehugger embryo implantation appendage coming out of someone's mouth. The whole setup is that WY was of course experimenting on xenos there on the station, but where they got them is unknown. Some say they came from the big chap. That big block of debris looking stuff coming in could have been him in some sort of cocoon he made. We never actually saw him die in the original. And he survived in space at least for a brief time until Ripley blasted him away with the shuttle engines. He could have lived long enough to cocoon himself and go into some kind of hibernation.
Hot take, Prometheus/Covenant was actually phenomenal. It was just too complex and required outside knowledge that most viewers were/are unaware of. They’re just not the movies people expect from an “Alien” movie.🤷♂️
not in a good way.... distance from prometheus is whatts making this a good turn for the franchise. I cant understand what makes him think that makes any sense to have David in it.
6:35 I'm not sure I feel it is deceptive. I felt that remake was fantastic, and the body horror was a good fit for what this this could be. I got excited by it either way.
To me the acid holes through the 3 levels was the size of a whole xeno! Reminds me of the scene in Alien Resurrection when the 2 xenos turn on the 3rd , use its dead body to escape!
Looks like alien covenant ship, and it probably was known on the planet to be sitting there, and they probably thought something on there can help them leave or have a better life of sorts bc of its value
I'm getting serious "ALIEN: ISOLATION" vibes from this... I've always considered ALIEN: ISOLATION to be the "Alien 3" narrative we SHOULD have gotten all along!
I am definitely in the minority, but I hope this film connects to Covenant. Even if it's only minor details and nods. I'm still disappointed that we never got Awakening. I'm eager for a finish to the prequels. If it is not part of the film universe, a novel or comic would be adequate.
Are facehuggers ever actually referred to as "facehuggers" in any of the Alien films? Or did someone coin that phrase once and it caught like wildfire?
I saw the first Alien film in 79 on a Sunday evening and only about half a dozen people in the cinema. Sadly, I went in spoilt. In those days, every now and again a publisher would release a photo novel of a popular film. I already had a Close Encounters one, and my brother bought me the Alien one. Basically, the whole film as a series of colour stills in a book. Always kicked myself for not going in blind.
Bit disappointed they left the David storyline unfinished. I’m sure from a horror perspective it’ll be done well, but from a lore aspect I don’t expect any progresssion. Unless we learn that Weyland-Yutani has been purposely planting aliens at various colonies
I know that i am in the minority here but i absolutely LOVED the prequels. Well, let me back track a bit, i loved Prometheus. But Alien Covenant wasn't all that great and it was the fault of all the critics and fans complaining about not seeing enough xenomorphs, so Ridley Scott appeased those people and in doing so, he wasn't able to make the movie he really wanted to make. I was always hoping that we would see a final prequel but that doesn't look like that will happen. But i do hope that they include David in some way shape or form. Either way, i can't wait to see Alien Romulus.
People need to stop going on about it being retreads of the old movies, or a "greatest hits of the original" as a negative. Some of the best cinema of all time do this without getting any prejudice. The Godfather Part 2, Aliens, The Dark Knight, Terminator 2, Last Crusade. Bear that in mind.
I just want to know what happened to David, and the rest of the Engineers, and the events of what happened to the engineer that ended up in the very first alien film?
@@eclipsehorse8693 A lot of people were intrigued by Prometheus, and I belong to those who loved Covenant. And there WILL be threads to those films here..
I was hoping the next film in the franchise would be about the engineer's origins. We've seen the Alien before and we know what its capable of etc Just thought we'd be getting something different 😏🤷🏻♀️
Knowing that the producers who did Evil Dead are on this movie you know it's going to have a high level of body horror and violence. I think this Alien movie will be very seperate from the rest of the franchise.. Very excited
If the colony the group came from was not Hadley's Hope and indeed a different planet, then it only makes sense that the specimens on Romulus originated from David's experiments and Weyland-Yutani was able to acquire them. My guess is the end of the film will involve Romulus getting obliterated, and then a computer message displays that additional specimens exist on LV-426 (which then triggers colonization of Hadley's Hope).
fede alvarez recently said in response to Romulus taking place 'between alien and aliens' "It's true, but I see it more as it takes place after 1, which means the same... It's kind of the child of both movies combined visually, aesthetically and story-wise." He went on to specify it takes place 20 years after alien and 37 years before Ripley is rescues, so it's interesting that he is sort of 'correcting' the idea that it takes place BETWEEN them. however i feel like there is a massive easter egg in the quote "...child of both movies..." and making think that we're going to see the explanation for the queen in this movie. since that is one of the biggest questions amongst fans, wether its really canon for the eggs to metamorphosis from a human or they come from a queen, i think its very realistic that the experiments on the Romulus are the companys attempts to create a queen that can provide them with endless specimens. how big chap plays into that i still have no idea and personally hope we dont see him... also if its 20 years after alien then, if the asteroid is big chap, that will either have to be a flash back or opening scene that then jumps ahead 20 years.
im betting its not gonna be so much malfunction, as programming overrides that even he may not be aware of. As in the space station/ Wayland Yutanis objective to get what it wants is like a malicious virus in him

@@aaronbreeds5132 if it is Big Chap it's more likely that WY sent a recovery team to track down the remains than it simply floating into the bay randomly.
The noise they use when cutting to the character from the rain sounds like the foot steps the Xenomorph makes in the game Dead by Daylight
So it could be the Xenomorph on the hunt?
Also i love how British the dude is
The Space Station is called Renaissance, with a Romulus (newer) and Remus (older) part.
I do believe that the Xenomorphs are the ones from David and hopefully they do mentioned him in the movie about the eggs he had in last Alien movie.
That reminds me of Metroid if you're familiar with that franchise. It's also inspired by the Alien movies
I tried not to jump on the hype train but after watching this trailer my train ticket has been punched and I’m yelling choo choo!!!
The previous entries have tempered my expectations, but it looks aight.
Between Alien Romulus, Deadpool and Wolverine, and Dune part 2. This might be a good year for movies.
Video games are having an ok year too
When Andy's eyes roll there's (probably) his model number on one eye and WY logo on the other.
"they always were a bit twitchy..." Bishop, "Aliens"
I’ve never seen any of these movies but the teaser alone made me want to watch them it might be time🙌
I read that the part where the android is motionless has to do with him rebooting for some reason.
Yall imagine if David shows up at the end as a end twist people would go crazy 🤪
He won't, BUT another well-known android will.. apparently.. sort of..
not in a good way.... distance from prometheus is whatts making this a good turn for the franchise.
I agree! Alien Isolation was awesome.
I've always wondered if they have any official name other than fans naming it face hugger.
I was wishing to get the alien convent movie continuity and was eager to know what that freak David would have done with 2000 people's and embryos
Bit disappointed they left the David storyline unfinished.
I’m sure from a horror perspective it’ll be done well, but from a lore aspect I don’t expect any progresssion. Unless we learn that Weyland-Yutani has been purposely planting aliens at various colonies
I cant express bow hyped I am for this film. Evil Dead (2013) is my all time fav horror movie so im all in for Fede
I like you bringing up the effect of the rings.
This trailer sold me. I was so worried for not seeing anything for so long
People need to stop going on about it being retreads of the old movies, or a "greatest hits of the original" as a negative. Some of the best cinema of all time do this without getting any prejudice. The Godfather Part 2, Aliens, The Dark Knight, Terminator 2, Last Crusade. Bear that in mind.
Rain will turn out to be Amanda Ripley at the end.
Everything doesn't have to be connected to Ripley because it's alien. Some fresh characters would be nice. Just not Prometheus again. 😂
I just want to know what happened to David, and the rest of the Engineers, and the events of what happened to the engineer that ended up in the very first alien film?
well the way those films were recieved, the less said the better...
@@eclipsehorse8693 A lot of people were intrigued by Prometheus, and I belong to those who loved Covenant. And there WILL be threads to those films here..
I was hoping the next film in the franchise would be about the engineer's origins. We've seen the Alien before and we know what its capable of etc
Just thought we'd be getting something different 😏🤷🏻♀️
Other reviews mentioned possibly a xeno molting into a queen, would be awesome
Knowing that the producers who did Evil Dead are on this movie you know it's going to have a high level of body horror and violence. I think this Alien movie will be very seperate from the rest of the franchise.. Very excited
gotta love when 'andy' says stay frosty.
It's kind of the child of both movies combined visually, aesthetically and story-wise."
He went on to specify it takes place 20 years after alien and 37 years before Ripley is rescues, so it's interesting that he is sort of 'correcting' the idea that it takes place BETWEEN them.
however i feel like there is a massive easter egg in the quote "...child of both movies..." and making think that we're going to see the explanation for the queen in this movie. since that is one of the biggest questions amongst fans, wether its really canon for the eggs to metamorphosis from a human or they come from a queen, i think its very realistic that the experiments on the Romulus are the companys attempts to create a queen that can provide them with endless specimens. how big chap plays into that i still have no idea and personally hope we dont see him... also if its 20 years after alien then, if the asteroid is big chap, that will either have to be a flash back or opening scene that then jumps ahead 20 years.
I like the "Something About Mary" hairdo you got goin' on.
I just hope he wasn't doing the same thing Ben was doing in that movie 😅
@@MrTruehoustonianhe definitely was
Hahahaha
That face hugger…..
So glad the CGI is being minimized for the creature effects.
The dude yelling. There's sunfin in the Wawa!! 😅😂
Another potentially good movie from the Aliens franchise 💯💯💯
Run 🏃♀🏃♂🏃🏃♂🏃🏃♂🏃♀🏃♀🏃♀🏃🏃🏃♂🏃♀🏃♂🏃🏃♀🏃♂
I'm here post-release. It lived up to the hype.
saw it today in belgium, you're in for a treat...
Alien: Isolation scarred me. I spent 80% of my time in that game hiding in lockers and closets.
Reminds me of the deacon
I was wondering if Andy rolling eyes scene means he malfunctioned at some point which would be amazing bringing him close to Ash character.
im betting its not gonna be so much malfunction, as programming overrides that even he may not be aware of. As in the space station/ Wayland Yutanis objective to get what it wants is like a malicious virus in him
I haven’t had such high hopes for a movie in a minute. Beautiful trailer Fede
Face hugger Face hugs !!! lol
Got my tickets will be there tomorrow 9:00 p.m.
The station is called Renaissance
Watching this makes me feel like Charlie Brown running to kick the football.
