Rich and Chris, we had a picnic table cover just like the one your showing. We celebrate the fact that we wore it out and now have an replacement that is blue and white. We have the clips just like yours and continue to use them. Brings back memories of us all sitting at assorted picnic tables in our travels at night with the sound of our Coleman lantern purring and sheding a soft light while we discussed past and futrue adventures and each of thumbed through the various books we brought along for some comfortable reading. We have relatives in South Dakota so we've enjoyed some of the State. Yes you've reminded us of some good times. Thanks for sharing!
We are faithful watcher's now for almost a year. When you are traveling it would be great if you would give in your segment the date of your travel it would give us an idea what the weather is like at that time in some of the areas that you ride. We plan on making the journey to some of your locations as well but we can't tell what time of year you're there. When it's cold in our town it seems you're traveling where it's warm even north of us. Thanks for the content we are finding many places we are looking forward to traveling. Be safe
I pulled out my trailer from a shed last fall. It was a pleasant surprise to open it & find a newspaper, some brochures & our old red checkered table cloth like yours. We last used it 20 plus years ago on our motorcycle camping trip to the Black Hills from Saskatchewan. Getting it refurbished with new tires, bearings & paint for our next adventure after a long break! Love all your videos. Yes, an indication of your dates would be informative. Thank for your posts!❤
You guys are so gutsy to sell up everything and live your dreams. You are greatly admired and envied, and we love you taking us with you on your incredible journey. Stay safe guys.
My Dad worked for Boeing refurbishing and updating/upgrading the missile silos throughout the midwest. We lived in Wall, SD for awhile... 1971-1972... and naturally I went to high school there. I also worked at Wall Drug Store. I used to ride my motorcycle all around the area there and into Rapid City and back. When I left there in 1972, I rode my bike down into Colorado about 42 miles east of Denver. A few months later... I rode it back up to South Dakota again. All this riding with my big ol` back pack on my back all the way, each way. That's when I went on active duty in the Army in 1972. I took some of the Wall Drug Store signs with me to take pictures of them in different places around Germany. Then I mailed the pics back to Ted and Bill Hustead... They own Wall Drug Store. If I remember correctly, Ted was the father and Bill was the son. I had some classes at school with Bill's daughter. I can't remember her name. Dark, basically black hair... and she was a beauty.
Wow, amazing when you talk about the mileage that you put on the bikes and trailer. It would be great if one day you draw on a map your travels. take care and ride safe...stay away from the bees, Cheers Dave
My friends and I left the badlands through the south and Crossed Nebraska. I was pleasently surprised and we saw the biggest elk I have ever seen. Ride safe.
Beautiful scenery! Wouldn't it be kool if they had a domed tent popping out of Ruby. Smoother wind crossing. Don't forget to tie down the axle and tongue in that wind. B safe out there. Watching video's showing different parts of South Dakota has me wishing for a motorcycle to ride all over that state.
The Blackhills is an 8 our drive ( 10 hours really ) from out location so not a bad trip. I think I like the hills better than any other place we have been. It is crazy how storms can just appear and dump hail on one area where others are dry. I am guessing this video was done some time in the past? Temps are in the 30's now is why I ask. As far as tire balance, well I have well over 1.5 million miles on various bikes and have yet to balance any MC tires. I found many years ago that in general they are pretty well factory balanced. I have had only 2 tires ( in 35 years) that were out of round which I send back to the vendor. So good move on removing the weights. I have done quite a bit of testing on beads and other methods and found them to be ineffective and a waste of time and money. I have watched all your videos and find them to be impressive and enlightening. I am planning summer rides out west right now and thanks for listing the roadways you are taking as I enjoy new and not seen before scenery which I normally locate via "I am lost" methods. Now head south before the snows hit.
Chris, the advantage of being thin ....carrying a waist bag under the jacket. My wife does the same to protect valuables when it rains. Rich, on my Road King I too attached the GoPro to the crash bar. At first I thought it was too low on the road, then I actually liked seeing part of the bike.
My wife and I just love your videos! Richard, Just love that sweater you always wear in the videos, found out they are called Baja sweaters and ordered one. I love the dang thing as its sooo comfortable. My daughter came for a visit and had to tell me, they call those drug rugs haha. Whatever lol, Keep up they great work!! We always look foreward to another TWBL video. Ride safe guys.
Thanks for the tire info on the ADV bike tires. Also My last 5 sets of tires on my bike were MCll I got 16000 to 19000 miles on them but did not pull as heavy of a trailer and did not as use much as you do.
If you get up to Canada along your adventures there’s a spectacular Buffalo jump. In Alberta between Pincher Creek and Lethbridge is Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump. Recommend parking in the lower level and ride the shuttle bus. It’s the only level ground. There’s a 6 level museum and a cafe.
You guys are the modern version of a pioneer family. I half-expected you to start stringing up some barbed wire- to make / claim a huge ranch homestead.
Wow another amazing trip, I love Sunday evenings, a cup of tea a couple of biscuits ( or a sneaky slice of cake) and your road trip, life is good! sending love for safe and happy travels 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Wow ! Amazing how expansive our country is. We have every possible type of topography, and a tapestry of roads to take you wherever you want to go. Even someplace as stark as the Badlands, has beauty.
It looks like the next stop is Midland South Dakota. We free camped there by the backstop on the baseball field. We had to do the hot springs in the Hotel too. Devils tower was awsome when we were there too.
I love my heated jacket liner. Rode the other day hear in northern indiana with temp of about 38f with a t-shirt, heated jacket liner & motorcycle jacket. Not bulky at all but coul ride all day and not get cold.
I'm a Harley owner myself and Harley Davidson, should pay you for how your Road Glide has held-up to now. Great advertisement for Harley. What a Tuff Bike I'm totally impressed. Yes some mechanical problems but anything mechanical wears out even the human body as we age and parts need to be fixed or repaired, think about it. 96 &103 twin cam engine are one of there best engines, they just kick butt.
South Dakota is worth spending a few days in. I visited Heads Smashed In Buffalo Jump in Alberta a long time ago. Ingenious way of hunting. Another good video.
Hot Wire heated gear is the only way to go! I have the jacket it is light and not nearly as bulky as layers and it is instant heat. You should give it a try? You won’t regret it. Safe Travels!
There is a guy in Australia on UA-cam thats channel is called million dollar brogan. He is running a all terrain style tire on his road king and says they do great. Might be worth checking out lol
Richard, you mentioned that you use inner- tubes with beads. Have you always run inner tubes on your bikes? I did not realize it is a thing. I use beads in mine, and inner tubes seems like it would be easier to install the beads. Next time you are in MN, you need to head to Dulth. Happy riding!
I hope you can get some heated gear!!! It is no larger than a jacket to store, they fold flat and wash up like anything else! Less layers less bulk!! Your blue neck gator - love it!!!
I loved my Commander 3’s, but the front tire was defective. My bike vibrated unless in a turn, then it would smooth out. Michelin determined that the front tire center tread grooves were defective on some of the 17’s and more of the 19’s. They replaced my tires free of charge, and I went back to the Dunlops. If they fix the tread prob, which they said they are working on, I would try them again. Glad you have a good experience with them. Ride safe, and yes tire maintenance is a serious thing. I’ve been down on I80 in Nebraska because I decided to push a rear tire past it’s limit, because I thought I could make it home.
Hey Rich & Chris, I just wanted to say that I enjoy your vid's and efforts to create content for our enjoyment.Thank you guys very much! Question, do you think you'll ever get up here to Canada? (Of course when the snow melts by June lol)...I know you've been close to our border and may have seen "you waving" once or twice...anyways, wanted to say thanks and 'Keep on ..Keeping On"...Ride safe..
Hey Richard, you should look at getting a pair of Odin gloves, I always had the same problem, I just did a review on them, I’m pretty sure they’re made in Canada, very handy when you’re vlogging because the forefinger and thumb flip off
My Grandpa would say while putting out his left hand I'm 25 on this side and then extend his right hand and say and I'm 26 on this side when asked his age. Richard you have my blessing to use that it's always good for a smile. You said you got 13000 miles on those tires. Was that both tires got 13k or was it the front only my experience is usually is a two to one front/rear. I would be interested in switching to those if you get that good of mileage from them. Stay warm and safe out there. Hope you can get out to the West coast next year. I would like to visit with you guys. Maybe plan on going to Montana in late summer for Amanda's RMR party. I am planning on going over there if everything works out
Hi Hidden Valley campground always brings back memories. Freezing my butt off for the Sturgis Rally. I am so glad you spent some time filming Devils Tower and going through SD. Safe Travels!
Oh yeah, Love the "Richards tech time minute" todays topic, TIRES. Do this again. I think we would love to hear more about the equipment and experiences in Richards Tech time.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife Yes! please do. I just bought my first set of Commanders after many Dunlops. I was really happy to hear your mileage report on them. Thanks! be safe. BTW, to bring up a tech discussion: when you diagnosed a bad voltage guage last year, was it bad or was it the beginning of the stator problems.
Thank you. My late wife and I stopped at the Vore Buffalo Jump in October of 2016. We were on the return home leg of a cross country road trip. My wife passed in 2018. Of all the points of interest we stopped at there were only two that I couldn't remember their name or exact location. This was one of them. When I saw the preview last week I was hopeful that this was the same Buffalo Jump site. It is. Thank you. I am still trying to remember details about the other site. Thank you for helping me remember parts of my favorite trip. The only way you could have made it any better for me was if you included pictures of or comments about the prairie dogs at Devils Tower National Monument. We spent some time watching them. Their behavior is interesting. And they are cute.
You are correct, that dispersed camping area south of Wall SD is outstanding! We stayed there 2 different times this summer and loved it. If from your video, our spot was within a few feet of where you camped.
Rich have you ever thought about running 50/50 tires on your ride? Some the places you guys go may make for a better ride. Great video guys thank you both.
me and the wife did the winter camp loch eran scotland rained for 12 hours straight u should check it out was fun thou and the tent failed lol but we had a brolly day shelter with us and thta was the saving grace lol
Would love to see a detailed run down of how you dress from head to toe for the various weather. I’m used to riding with a half helmet, tee shirt, jeans and boots. Oh and fingerless gloves. Yeah I get stuck in down pours at times but I deal with that. Dressing for the weather would be the biggest road block to me hitting the road long term
Great video again. When we were out in the Black Hills in 2012 we stumbled on to The Minutemen National Monument. It was just a trailer just west of the Badlands NP entrance. We were out there in 2015 and they had built an entire visitor center. Very interesting. In 2012 we were brought to one of the missile sights and were able to go down into the silo. Hope you were able to see it . If not it is worth a stop next time your thought the area to check it out. The next day we rode to Devils Tower. At the visitor center in the parking lot a couple of bikers parked near us. One of them had the same bike as Bob. R1150R . We got to talking, we mentioned the Minutemen Monument and low and wouldn’t you know the Dad was Ex Air Force and was a minuteman. Small world. Looking forward to the GRR videos. Ride safe.
I was at devils tower yrs. ago. The story I heard was an Indian maiden was running from a bear and somehow made it to the top of this mountain and the bear clawed the sides of this mountain trying to get to her. Regardless of the story it's an impressive site. I thought modern harleys had tubeless tires. I tent camped where you did just outside the badlands. It was awesome. Went to Wall drug for my buffalo burger and ice water.
I see you both putting your helmets on near the start of this video. Could you tell us more about the comms system you use to talk to each other while riding? I didn't see you turn it on so wondered how it works.
Glad you like the tires - just made a track from Ohio thru NC, GA and into the Country Hills in Austin, TX - On my second set...dont know if I'll ever switch...loved Wall when I was there earlier this year...keep it up...thanks for the videos as always!!!
Always enjoy your videos. Been following you on my Atlas-brings back memories from my travels from Ohio 20 yrs ago. Glad you can still get " a free glass of water" at Wall Drug. Travel safe!! 🙋♂️
Great Tech talk Richard...which Commander tires do you use...Commander 2...Commander 3 Cruiser or Commander 3 Touring ?? I ride a Kawasaki Vaquero 1700cc 900 lbs. I do tow a trailer for luggage but will be towing a tent camper. I'm curious if there's a difference between the Cruiser 3's and the Touring 3's ... if you've used either. Thanks ...keep up the great videos you 2 kids are awesome 👌 !!!!
Rich I’m going to have do the same to my gloves, I’ve bought two pair of gloves which are supposed to be phone user friendly which has proved to be bullish-t, love the story telling Chris keep them coming. Stay Safe on your travels

You ever thought about going darkside on Miss Alice? I got 40,000 out of my last DS Goodyear pulling a trailer on my Goldwing.
We love the Black Hills. Yes been to Sturgis Rally. However we enjoy the area more without the rally rush. Getting old I guess.
Thanks John and Caroline.

Try a car tire on the back of the Harley. Much nicer on gravel, rain and wear better and last longer carrying a lot of weight.
The Commanders are great. I use dyna beads too. I just wish they made Commanders with white walls for my silver black 03 Road King Classic.

Great video guys.

I really like kenda cruz tires, they are cheaper and work great in rain or dry.
I just love your show takes me everywhere I want to go I just don't know where y'all get the energy but thanks a lot for the right
Glad you like the tires - just made a track from Ohio thru NC, GA and into the Country Hills in Austin, TX - On my second set...dont know if I'll ever switch...loved Wall when I was there earlier this year...keep it up...thanks for the videos as always!!!
Yes I've been told thats what they're called. No one has given me anything yet so I don't know if its true. 🤣🤣
Always enjoy your videos. Been following you on my Atlas-brings back memories from my travels from Ohio 20 yrs ago. Glad you can still get " a free glass of water" at Wall Drug. Travel safe!! 🙋♂️

Commander 2 great tires

Always enjoy your travels. Love the way you show the ups and the downs of the journey. Travel safe.👍🏻❤️
Great Tech talk Richard...which Commander tires do you use...Commander 2...Commander 3 Cruiser or Commander 3 Touring ?? I ride a Kawasaki Vaquero 1700cc
900 lbs. I do tow a trailer for luggage but will be towing a tent camper. I'm curious if there's a difference between the Cruiser 3's and the Touring 3's ... if you've used either. Thanks ...keep up the great videos you 2 kids are awesome 👌 !!!!
I couldn't tell, was the Cafe next to Aladdins General store open to get a drink?
No it was not that day
@@TwoWheelsBigLife sad. It is a cute little store/cafe there, maybe next time. Glad you stopped at the Buffalo Jump!
Rich I’m going to have do the same to my gloves, I’ve bought two pair of gloves which are supposed to be phone user friendly
which has proved to be bullish-t, love the story telling Chris keep them coming.
Stay Safe on your travels
Right on
I run Centermatic wheel balancers. Might be worth a look at.
