Indiana plays basketball the way it supposed to be played! They don't send in players that try to hurt another player! Connecticut had 4 players that physically tried to hurt Clark and the refs didn't do their job! You can't beat a team when the refs don't do their job. Just look at how many free throws Connecticut had compared to Indiana? If you don't call a foul when one player gets assaulted and the ref is 2 feet away, I know something is not right

I was thinking the same a few months ago, they need an enforcer, every great player had one like Gretzky, Curry, Jordan, Isaiah Thomas. If the golden goose gets injured, that's the end of the WNBA forever, and the player that injures CC will be remembered for destroying the league.

Yea especially since Kelly has been fully involved with all important decisions on the women's side even when she was technically on the men's side, and the Fever have since CC's day 1 being doing "what's necessary to help Caitlin and the team succeed." So, definitely expect the plan to continue, unchanged, as it's been hugely successful so far.
Gabby Williams should be priority #1 for the Fever. But they also need a cool headed vet, and a solid power forward.
I agree they knew a stronger "Forward"! I like Aliyah Boston, but her ceiling seems low!!!! I was very disappointed after the break w/ AB.
I’m not sure Gabby wants to play any more for such cheap prices compared to what she gets overseas. I like her too, a lot. But she is also old, in her 30’s but if she would be willing to play for the Fever then great short contract. Her appeal would be better playing for the Fever so she could get the endorsement deals that would make up for the cheap contract. We can hope.

Actually although Kelly was on the men's side she was still highly involved with all important decisions on the women's side, and basically her coming back to the women's side ensures that what has been happening will continue. That means the Fever are 100% committed to what Lin Dunn, Coach Sides, and the team have been doing and that process will not be affected by outside noise like Internet trolls spewing hate. Also Kelly isn't really a "new boss lady" she was in this position for many years for the Fever, including when Lin Dunn was a head coach winning Championships for the Fever, and it was really only in the past few years that Kelly moved to the men's side but as mentioned even though technically on the men's side she still was de facto running things on the women's side as well, like she was deeply involved with the hiring of Coach Sides for instance.

Lin has always said they need speed and def and perimeter shooting skill set. This is absolutely nothing new. Nothing.
Part of the fee agent vetting process should be to check our their social media, twitter, etc. Even go to the wayback machine to make sure you find their deleted shit. If they are a toxic activist type, then move on. A team that doesn't slam their own fanbase is very important to selling tickets, merch, and overall brand...
Most of their players right now fits the description aside from Smith, but Smith just happened to get involved with Carrington, so they probably might have been doing this

Kelsey is a very smart and calculated girl... She wanted to know how serious the Indiana Fever about getting to the top 4 teams in WNBA with signing MORE NEW free agents (included the MAX contract) to play with CC, her and the team. That is Why I have a lot of respect for Kelsey.
Being as smart as she is, KM will allow the Fever to explore upgrades at the 2 spot. I'm very excited about Kelsey Plum, for instance. The Fever wouldn't be able to do this if KM wasn't so smart and had already signed an extension. Being as smart as she is might just get KM kicked off the CC gravy train, and then KM could maybe go play for an expansion team or something...

If the mindset is that they'd already be a semi-final team if not for reffing, then that's not being very honest about the shortcomings on their roster. They need to, and hopefully will, bolster the roster in the off season, and especially with players who can improve the team's defense

Wheeler is not under contract for Fever next year, so her salary should be available. Fever could resign her but will be for less than this years salary.

I cannot envision the Fever backcourt without Kelsey. Kelsey and Caitlin can play 37-40 minutes per game so one other backcourt talent to give our stars a blow or to play with them when Sides decides that a particular point in a game requires going small is best. The backcourt and Boston are terrific offense. All the other players must concentrate on DEFENSE. If a free agent wants to join the team they need to stress their defense cred's. PAY KELSEY WHATEVER IT TAKES !!!

The Fever need to prioritize Gabby Williams over Kelsey Mitchell. She can defend 1-3 and she can also run the point allowing for CC to get a rest or play off of the ball. I doubt we can pry Satou from Dallas but we sure better try. If not Myisha Heinz Allen from the Lynx is Draymond Green with a better shot. She can run, pass, shoot and defend.

But we don't want/need a thug. They need to fit in with the character of the team, which for the Fever is exceptionally high. Larry Bird and Kevin McHale didn't take anything from anyone, but they didn't have to model after Bill Laimbeer to be successful.
They need Mitchell back, but she needs to be coached out of her " it's my turn" possessions. Those are as bad as turnovers. Couple that with coaching Clark out of her "heat check" shots and you'd have a couple more possessions a game with not only better scoring opportunities, but fewer turnovers
All the Fever needed to win the playoffs were referees who were fair and didn’t rig the game.
Well, actually, they really needed an effective defense. Any defense would be better than their non/never existent defense. And, of course, a coach that had a clue would be nice too!

KM knows what CC is doing for her game . Players willing to move to FEVER may be willing to take a small hit in thier value till money gets freed as the franchise culls deadwood , the off court opportunities that will appear surely make up for the loss . And if you moved it would be to stay for the journeybwhichnmeans you are going to get fame and fortune .
Raise the damn salary cap! With all the new millions of dollars flowing into the league, if the salary cap is not raised then none of that money is trickling down to the players whose pay is and has been a joke. No new carpeting in the team front offices, no new gatorade dispenser in the locker room. You want to see another fan war along side the one you already got? It's easy enough to guesstimate the dollars from sold out arena tickets, increased ad revenue and merch sales. Raise the damn salary cap.

Glad Kelly Krauskopf is completely running the show. However she did help Dunn in the coach process of hiring Sides. She is less incline to cut ties in this off season with Sides. The good is Dunn understands the directive. We are building around CC a up tempo team and not around Boston a half court offense. Boston will excel in a up tempo over a half court offense. Boston gets bogged down in the half court system. Whereas Boston is essential in a fast break offense. She gets the rebound/takes the ball out and is on the secondary break if the defense gets back and stops the initial break. Now Sides needs to get on board. No more trying to make CC a 2 guard. No more dumping the ball to Boston at half court and stand in the corner. CC needs complete control over the offense.
CC is working on improving many areas of her game, including her ability to play off the ball effectively. In a pro offense, it's important to attack in different ways, give different looks. Kelly is completely on board with the process which has been happening and will continue. So is Clark. So is most of the basketball world who understand basketball. It's really only some people on the Internet who don't really understand basketball who have issues.
So, to be clear, although the Fever prefer to attack in transition, if the other team gets back and plays transition defense correctly, that forces the Fever into a half court offense. So the Fever have all last seasons always tried to play "up tempo" but it's the other team (not Coach Sides, not Lin Dunn, not whoever else you want to assign blame to) that prevents that. When forced into a half court offense, the Fever will try to work the ball into the paint, so "around Boston a half court offense" will continue. Boston is actually an excellent half court offense player doens't "get bogged down" that's a non-basketball IQ coming up with that comment. Also, CC will still need rest, and either that means taking her off the court of leaving her on the court but letting someone else handle the dribbling responsibilities for a few minutes so CC can get a few minutes to recover, but still keep playing. So "make CC a 2 guard" will continue in situations like these. Actually, CC also plays the 3 spot sometimes just FYI and since you obviously don't realize it. That's when she "stand[s] in the corner" because that's a role the Fever often assign to the 3 spot to spread the floor. Basically all the things you mention will continue, because that's good basketball. And Internet trolls who know very little about basketball will continue to have problems with it I'm sure but they will continue to be ignored.
Sides will continue. 2023 her team was +8 wins. 2024 +7 wins. 2025 expect to see another +5-10 wins from Sides. And this will happen specifically because Sides will be doing ALL the things you don't want done, and Kelly will be 100% in support of that, and so will CC. CC just wants to win and your advice would make the Fever worse. Which is to be expected when you know nothing about basketball.
Lexi needs to grow confidence in taking the ball to the rim, even in traffic. If she doesn't have a wide open shot, she immediately looks to pass, and other teams know that. A good pass fake followed by a hard drive to the rim could be very effective. Going to the rim hard isn't only about scoring, it is also about getting key players on the other team into early foul trouble. The Fever need to improve at drawing fouls.
No, the refs just need to start CALLING the fouls...Caitlin drove to the basket on a play against the Sun and Mabrey fouled her 3 times on the play and NOTHING was called..
This is not a confidence issue it's a skill issue. Lexi is high effort but limited skills. She's not a great passer. She's not a great dribbler. She turns the ball over a lot. She fouls a lot. Because she's out of control. She's pretty and high effort so fun to watch but in the end her defense isn't all that good, especially because of all the fouls. The "couple more players" Dunn mentioned the Fever need are better players to start at the 3 and 4 spots, meaning Lexi goes back to the bench, more suitable for a high effort but limited talent player like her. As Dunn said, the other teams all have 3 and 4 spot players that are more talented, much better, than what the Fever have.

My question has always been, will free agents want to play with CC. Curious to know if these are top free agents or second and third tier free agents. Sabally will probably be cored. Nneka Ogwumike is definitely a possibility. Katie Lou definitely is a liability but that is Dunn's fault for the 2 year contract. I hope her confidence comes back taking wide open 3's. It will be a interesting off season with all free agents signing one year deals with new money coming in 2026.
Everything Dunn is saying sounds great, Sides can't coach that style of ball for 40 minutes. Side certainly can't coach defense, just look at the lights out from 3 the opponents scored nearly every game on them, zero tight man to man, instead the defense was guard who ever you wanted and hope for the best.
Hey I asked CC and she said Sides is an excellent coach. But if you think you know a better coach, maybe go watch her team instead because the Fever are on a good path with a good coach don't really need your help. Good luck with your new coach!
Yep, a defensive coach who can’t coach defense, gimme a break. Replace sides and the players that are brought in can thrive. With sides they can only pretend and occasionally shine. Sides just ruins too many games. I’d take a good look at her finances to see if she wasn’t point shaving All season long.
@@titanbum7365 Coach Sides can coach defense. What Coach Sides can't do is make NS a good defender, nor can any coach in the world. Coach Sides also can't make TF and DD good defenders when they are hurt most of the season. Coach Sides also can't make LH into a starting quality 3 in the WNBA, and neither can anyone else.
You need to get a grip on reality and understand the difference between a team with much worse players like the Fever had in the 3/4 spots and teams with "good defenses" because they have much better players.
I'd like to take a look at your credentials to evaluate pro level basketball, or a pro level basketball coach. Have you ever, yourself, played or coached above the high school level? No? Have you ever worked for a pro team, or even a D1 college team? No? Wow. It seems you're incredibly unqualified to make these evaluations! Just started watching WNBA and the Fever this past year because of CC, so not familiar with Indiana players other than what I've seen this season. Indiana needs to do what ever to keep Mitchell she is tops in my book. She kind of fell off her usual level of play during the play offs, I'm not sure why, she's normally exciting to watch. Some feel she hogs the ball too much but if you score who cares. Hull is all over the place including hitting the floor more than anyone because she puts in double effort and not afraid to stand her ground which sometimes results in bad calls by refs in my opinion. If your stationary how comes people can plow over you. And if you notice about Lexie she seems to be always the main one helping her team mates up, I like her a lot. CC has really helped Boston become a big contributor as well. I agree they need more defense, can't win games if other team matches ever point you make. Also, and I'll end my long winded self on this note is the Fever and the WNBA need to protect their players better from the thugs. Happily the thugs seem to be in the minority but their behavior needs improved or get removed. Find a waitress job somewhere, the WNBA doesn't need you. So let's go Fever.
Bottom line. Playing with CC means potential to earn more $$. AB partnered with major brands including Adidas. I'm pretty sure Lexi, Kelsie and the others will have some form of endorsements as well. Smart players will see this.
I'D KEEP **THIS** Fever Team!!! - (No - I'm not being naive when I write that.) - Here's why:
I am one of those people who hadn't watched the WNBA for 20 years, and took a look because of the Caitlin Clark hype. It was great to see how the league has developed, and that it might be on the verge of exciting changes to the styles of play...
But my FAVORITE part of these past couple months has been learning about the women on this Fever team...!!
I think I stayed more for this WHOLE GROUP of kind, thoughtful, amazing women than for the original reason.
As far as whole teams go, it seems like these women have the BEST HEARTS in the WHOLE LEAGUE!
Honestly, none of them would be out of place among the wonderful people I am lucky enough to have as friends and family.
If I could have ONE WISH, it would be that the FEVER organization make the unusual choice to keep this family of women together.
I know it's professional sports... and it's normal for players to get traded around...
But I'd **LOVE** to see this team make an unusual decision, and hold this team together, to see how far THIS GROUP can go, by continuing to build on the trust and camaraderie they've had since the Olympic break (too short!).
It might take 2-3 years, but with GREAT COACHING (maybe an NBA head coach, to help the Fever continue to take the league in new directions), and great individual coaching for each player - so that they can live up to their potential for their roles (not in CC's shadow, but as dominant players in their own rights). If each of them grew even just a bit into the potential each of them still has, they'd be perennial contenders - I believe that.
I truly believe this exact group of women could become a league powerhouse... Finals, at least, and a long-lasting force to be reckoned.
In any case, although I don't know these women, I feel I've seen enough to be proud of each of them - to admire them - and to wish them all the best. I just wish they could have more years of growing together...

Kelsey is intelligent enough to realize her popularity is up and that staying with the Fever and Clark , the way they were starting to play better together was not only getting popularity up, but was also helping her improve he stats and game play. Clark was actually improving several teammates game play if you think about it.

Kelsey Mitchel is a must. Think about the amount of scoring that will happen if you give Caitlyn someone at Kelsey and AB level to spread the ball to? Lexi has already proven what can happen when Caitlin draws all the heat. Kelsey and AB get a lot of highlight reel moments because of CC's threat level and unselfishness. Put another serious threat on the court and you could not shut them down.
Funny she says they like to run but sides doesn't seem to get this with many times prioritizing half court offense and down low! I'm still praying they get her out. She just makes too many mistakes and there many things she doesn't do for her team. And she loves throwing her players under the bus. They need a good veteran coach who is also good defensively. I really like Mitchell, but i would move on from her. The price tag will get you literally any player who wants to come to Indiana, and i would rather have a good 2-way wing player for that money. Mitchell and Clark are both ball dominant guards. I think having Hull in the 2 spot would be great. She's going to be bigger than a lot of guards so she'll make a great 3 and D player. I would also move on from Wheeler unless she is going to take vet minimum. With the extra cap spaced saved from those two you could go get Nneka and Satou.

@@oldmennewgames KLS makes too much $, no GM would want her. She has to spend the offseason in the gym getting her body and shot back if she wants a job after next yea. Or else the team buys her contract out, but that results in dead $ cap space.
KLS would be the first to agree she wasn't in ideal shape after having a child and that she wasn't meeting her own expectations of how well she should have played. It will be interesting to see if she makes up for last season this next season.
One thing KLS doesn't get enough credit for is that, after both Dantas and Temi got hurt, the Fever only had 3 players they trusted to rotate in the 4/5 spots, those being AB, NS, and KLS. Now, it's a lot of effort for KLS to bang with bigger players at the 4 spot, and she definitely is more of a natural 3, but she showed up every game and did what was asked of her. She even started a game at the 4 spot because NS was being NS.
KLS will give 100% effort every play and do whatever is asked of her. She has the ability to play the 3, or the 4. She has an incredibly low turnover rate and she hardly ever makes a mistake. She might miss a shot, but she doesn't lose the ball, and she moves the ball very well. In fact, KLS is probably the 2nd best passer on the Fever, behind CC. KLS doesn't have CC's flair, but she had good vision, makes good passes, and safe passes.
Statistically, KLS is a better defender than what you suggest. Also, she's a very good career shooter, although this last season wasn't her best. None of the players you suggest, not Satou, not Nneka, not Gabby Williams, were interested in signing with the Fever prior to CC being drafted. Also, KLS is much better than the players the Fever did not bring back from 2023. So you need to remember that the Fever were having to get the best player they could and even overpay to make that happen. The KLS signing wasn't a bad contract when it was signed, it was market and what it took for the Fever to get a better player than the players they were replacing. The contract is only 2 years so after next year it falls off the books so really not anything to get your panties in a wad over.

Katie wasn't rushed back she took off the 2023 season. Indiana is also her 5th wnba team in 5 seasons 😅 come to think of it if she is good before ?. That should fire off alarm bells in lin dunn nogging. If she were paying attention at all why handing out a two year max contract worth 355k that no other wnba team will come within a light a year of matching she shoud atleast gave her 180k for her role.
Katie lou for me is just a warm body. Maybe a good cheer leader she is not aggresive enough on defense and cants shoot anymore. She dont move just standing in the corner and waiting for the pass Just a huge liability. Any player who has her guarding them immediate reaction its lunch time chicken barbecue. No wonder why sides dnp her in game 2, playing 3 minutes -8 in game one. Fouling bonner for three point shot, and guarding thomas create a defensive 3 violation. A defensive liability.

Hey I have good news for you! Inside info here. The Fever will have a head coach next year with a couple years head coaching experience, every year her team has showed immense improvement, she has received awards like WNBA Coach of the Month, other coaches regard her as one of the best coaches in the WNBA, and also she has more years as associate head coach where she shared head coaching responsibility and almost 30 years total coaching experience.
Furthermore, this coach is HIGHLY regarded by Caitlin Clark, Aliya Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell, and privately each of them has said this is the coach they most want to play for.
Really the only downside of this coach is that there is a small but vocal group of Internet trolls who know nothing about basketball who for whatever reason don't like this coach. But everyone in the real world - coaches, players, GM's, media, anyone who actually knows something about basketball - all agree this is an outstanding coach! So great news and I really hope those Internet trolls that for some reason hate on this coach will find a coach they like and go watch her team instead, and post in her team boards instead, because frankly a lot of us are really tired of the hate these trolls keep spewing and wish they would just go find a coach they like and watch her team so we don't have to hear from them anymore.
We need a scorer at power forward that can run, a backup point guard that can keep us going when Caitlin rests (Julie vanloo) Tina Charles to back up Aliyah and Temi! Satou or neka and Howard would be my preferred forward
New player requirements should not only require skill, but team chemistry which seemed to be the driving force from Sides. But they sure need one who's a defender and enforcer.

Finally there is some clarity about the Fever's management. Good news:
1. The team will be oriented around Caitlin Clark. If that wasn't the first priority then it would be a disaster!
2. Kelsey Mitchel is the second priority. (I was hoping that it would be a new coach!)
3. The Fever will be an up-tempo running team and the Fever will be looking for some players who can run!
So. Smith will be looking for a job elsewhere; HOPEFULLY! And maybe Samuelson. Some of the bench player will be replaced. Hopefully Lexie "Gazelle" Hull will be back with her newly found shooting! She's a quick defender and a smart player and she never gives up.

@@markyg236 The opportunity to "come to an agreement without having to resort to coring" has passed. At this point, KM will be cored. That's in January I think. Then when she's cored, hopefully she and the team can come to an equitable agreement. I agree KM should take the max 1 yr deal and then see how the new CBA changes. The Fever can core again, if they want, and then maybe KM will sign a longer deal after the new CBA comes out.
Since the Fever have a lot of interest from players, they don't need to trade for speculative 1 yr deals.
Saxton is what she is, a 6'1" center. Probably she is showing growth which is why the Fever have kept her around. Maybe she can learn to play the 4 spot as well, where 6'1" is still small but not as bad. However, in her limited playing time, I've only ever seen her play the 5 spot. She's a super cheap, good attitude, AB friend, end of bencher showing growth. She's what you want out of an 11/12 spot player. She's definitely not the "answer" though.

The Fever need a goon that will end someone’s season if they touch a single hair on Caitlin’s head. They’re going nowhere if Caitlin gets hurt bad. That eye jab could have permanently injured Caitlin and ended her career, and the refs, players, coaches and Commisioner don’t have her back. She’s Serpico stuck in the door and needs a “punisher” to take care of anyone who harms her.
Lin Dunn said the exactly right things that Fever fans are looking for from this off season. Need to sign Kelsey and then get at least two top veteran or youngish players that can run and shoot and/or play good defense. Fever also need to bring in a more experienced coach and a defensive guru who can teach the Fever proper defense. There is a coaching problem on defense and even offensively, I believe we are just scratching the surface in terms of how good a Caitlin led offense can be. Time to enter the big leagues - this team can be a dynasty - that is what they should be shooting for.
All the stuff you added to what Lin Dunn said won't happen and the reason is that Kelly and Lin Dunn and pretty much everyone who knows anything about basketball think that would be stupid. In the non-stupid world where people actually understand basketball, the Fever's current coach is excellent they just need a couple more players with better skills on both sides of the ball. These two players are the 3 & 4 spot starters. They have CC, AB & KM and will pair these 2 players with them and move the current starters at 3 & 4 spots to backup roles. Personally I think they could also upgrade the 2 spot. There are players in the WNBA who are better all-around players than KM, definitely better defenders, and players who don't disappear in the playoffs the way KM did. The Fever want to make sure that if they can't get an upgrade, they at least get KM back, so are saying things publicly about how important KM is to them, but if they have a chance to upgrade the 2 spot they should.
It would be nice if Katie Lou and Wheeler volunteered to renegotiate their contracts to free up some Cap Space. I think both are very valuable teammates for the leadership and comradery they facilitate and they are crucial pieces of the CC Babysitting Committee 🤣
Knowing it would help get to a championship ring and that's what they all play for, u would hope. Katie needs to work out and get back n shape and Wheeler is good and she bonds the team, but they need about two more pieces. Dantas needs the gym and Temi should b healthier. Temi has a ring under her belt and she can b a veteran leader on that court. Her defense is good. Don't know about Saxton, maybe see where she could help out more. Just excited to see whose staying or coming.

The eyes on him and increased deals for other players who were near the top was great for golf. They were happy to get new viewers. Honestly I think certain foreign governments known for trying to sir up racial division and animus and create discontent that can be used to destabilize the country are acting through bots, trolls and anonymous accounts, pretending to be ‘fans’ or whatever. Not that there aren’t some domestic trolls around, but for the most part, the people in the stands and buying merch are happy patrons and families wanting to enjoy an exciting and skilled game, see models of good sportsmanship for their kids regardless of color or sexuality. I know I don’t care or even care to know about the latter two. I get my dopamine rush from a fast and strategic game well-played by skilled competitors.

dunn contradicted Sides start of the season vision statement ... Sides slow game, limited CC play time ... end of fever season was a huge contrast of pace and CC point guard ...there were glimpses of the early season sides plans..still no floor vision of time out utilization
I hope Kelly Krauskopf can do what Bluder could not do. After losing to LSU in the 2023 Championship game, Bluder said in later interviews they want to bring in one or two bigs from the portal. Unable to bring in any portal players with numerous bigs in the portal. It takes a different type person to want to play with the circus that is around the Fever. You need thick skin and play a specific role. With that comes opportunities to make scratch off the court. I think Nneka Ogwumike might be the only first tier player they have a shot at. Two second tier players with the core can push the Big 4. Especially if the Big 4 loses some core players.
The 2 players Dunn mentioned that the Fever need to upgrade are the 3 & 4 spots. Not sure if the 3 spot if a 'big" but some players in the WNBA who play it are 6'4" so I guess it can be, but generally called "small forward" not a "big". The 4 spot is a "big" however.
Mitchell imo needs to be less greedy especially when she's off.
