I’m definitely waiting to see the Atmos performance on movies with the 300. Hopefully it will make a difference and not be a gimmick. For the price tag it better make a huge difference.

Agreed. I'm not considering them for their power, I just want the Atmos experience with true spatial rear channels. I hope they are a good match for the Arc.

how does the the Era 100 compare Marshall Acton iii or Stanmore iii sound quality wise?
The Era 300 sound muffled or less concentrated. I am wondering if that is because of the recording method not being able to properly record the spacial effect? How does it actually portray in person?
It was recorded on the fly with a regular microphone, for that you'll have to wait for my binaural samples. It did capture the 'less concentrated' character of its sound though
@@aaronloudnwireless Do you think we are going to a place where these spatial audio speakers will need new methods beyond binaural to truly represent how they sound for a viewer? Probably unnecessary for just UA-cam but just thinking aloud.

Could you provide a sound sample of the One SL, Era 100, Era 300, and Fives in single and stereo pairs? The Era 300 sounded more spacious and a wider sound. Really hard to tell with just Bose QC35 headphones.

They will support them for a very long time. My Play Ones from 2013 are still going strong

It’s always best to listen to these speakers in the space they will be placed in your home to get the best idea. From what I hear.. the 300 sounds more spacious versus the 100 that sounds more “direct”
I can imagine the 300 sounding really good in a bedroom, kitchen standalone and great for surround sound. The 100’s would be great with a sub mini for music and vinyl playback
I own the Era 300’s, they sound unreal! In surround, it’s like being at a theater, great purchase!

They only work in pairs. So two Ones or two Eras 100 and only connect to the Beam 2ng gen and the Arc.

Seems i could hear a more openness from the 300. I was listening on a tabletop speaker, so better listening could detect more sound
Disappointingly the 100 sounds cleaner and the vocals lost in the 300. Need to see first hand as keen for the 300 and have got my Upgrade voucher ready!
I've heard it in person, the 100 is way better but they say the 300 is really good if you run dolby atmos tracks

From what I can tell, the Sonos Era 300 adds more warmth, more sub bass (rumble) and sounds slightly more spacious. I can't tell if the warmth is a focus on the lower mids or if the bass is leaking into the mids. I think the track separation works well for it.
The Sonos Era 100 is more focused on treble and puts more focus on the upper mids, while still having some mid bass (impact). Unfortunately, it sounds more mono compared to the Era 300.
From the sound sample, it sounds like the Era 300 would be worth it for the seperation or bass over the Era 100. On the other hand, the Era 100 is clearer.

Have not heard it but it is a fairly good assumption that the Fives will still be better for stereo sound. Era 300 will be better for home theaters because of the upward firing speakers. If your need is movies then the Era 300 is a good buy. For music lovers, the Fives are still the best option.

I'm looking for a single great speaker for a large bedroom (R&B, reggaeton, salsa, hip-hop so I want that bass) that can be moved around the house. I've been looking at JBLs and UE Hyperboom but the Sonos system is really intriguing and are abundant on the used market. Looking to spend around $300 and willing to buy refurb open box or even used for the best sound quality for the buck. A Move or Era 100 could be the starting point - what do you think?

300 sounds more a bit more spatial but voice seems more forward in 100. Also I think female voice sounds better in 100. (Listening w/o Dolby & flat equaliser on IE 200)

Voices were more natural on the Era 100. Era 300 sounded more spacious but also more artificial.
Era 300 was too big for my small living room , so I decided to change it to Era 100 for my rear speakers , and I think it's the right decision. Now I have Arc, Sub 3 gen, Era 100 for a small room, Era 300 I think is a wrong choice for me .
I preodered 300 x 2 to pair with arc. If these sound like how i hear it now on your video using my Bose headphones, i’m probably going to scream of disappointment 😵💫
I think the Era 100 is clearer so maybe better for people that prefer to listening to music because they could appreciate the constrats between low/mid/high notes more.
But the 300 can be amazing as well for a bigger space and it envelops you more, maybe better for movies.

Thx. With closed eyes honestly the 100 sounds better, a bit more bassier. Would have made sense to check with some really bass-heavy tracks to demonstrate the higher capability of the 300…
I really hope there is some treble clarity - Sonos normally goes for a bass heavy and treble mushy sound unfortunately, even after tweaking the EQ massively. The Sonos roam was a good example of appalling sound - very few reviews were honest about it. I'm looking forward to purchasing the new Era 100 - but I'm really worried its frequency response will be a bunch of crap.
I have a Sonos Roam, and it catches all the bass notes nicely, but it doesn’t have much subwoofer to it I guess you could say, so you can’t really feel the bass at all. I have found that the highs are pretty crisp to my ears. The difference between the highs on the Roam and on my JBL Charge 3 is night and day.

@@aaronloudnwireless So ERA 300 should sound better/richer than the 100 all around (because of internals and design) even for non atmos tracks ? Didn’t know if ERA 300 is worth it and should be considered if playing majority non atmos music … but you want better/fuller stereo sound. Also … How do you think 2 ERA 100’s (stereo pair) would compare with 1 ERA 300 ? Will you be doing comparisons with stereo pairs of the new spearkers

I guess the era 300 sounds more separated and spacy at the expense of the center reproduction of vocals were the Era 100 have a bit of an advantage, however, the Era 100s I feel are more intended as a standalone or pair setup, whereas the Era 300 is designed around having that center channel via the arc in a surround setup complementing the sub with Era 300 as a pair acting as the height, L & R. In which case I can only imagine how immense that setup will sound when all the parts complement eachither and are calibrated to the room. The problem with the Era 100 to my ears (if you can call it a problem) is jamming so much audio hardware into a consolidated unit to maximise the possible amount of separation. Usually this is decent but I feel they are limited by the formfactor. Don't get me wrong, the sound is what you expect from Sonos (amazing) but the price is reflected in the performance and vastly depends on the use case. The Era 300s will definitely be replacing my one SL's acting as rear speakers in my setup!
