- I know you guys have been waiting a while for this video. Best to set everything back to stock setting and watch it for a while, then switch to this set of recommended settings to get a better feel for the difference.
The Arc is paired with the Sonos Sub Gen 3 for this setup, and a pair of Era 300s for the surrounds. It took me a while to arrive at this set of settings. Hope it works as well for you as it does for me! Enjoy!

I’m so grateful for your videos. I bought my Arc at Costco with a $100 off manufacturer cupón and at Costco the arc is $50 less. So I only paid $749.00 for the Arc. Also ordered the sub gen3 with $550 dollars off I had on my Amazon account so the sub was $250 out of pocket. Also ordered 2 ERA 300s which I received already. I’m planing to install everything soon s Thanks once again.

THANK YOU. So glad I came across your video. As others have said, the sound I’m getting out of my Arc & 300s system is so much better for these settings. It seems crazy to me that Sonos wouldn’t send the speakers out with this sound as default. And even more crazy that most Sonos customers are probably not getting the best out of these expensive speakers.

Awesome video as always Peter! ERA300's are amazing as surrounds but sadly I had to return mine as they both had the dreaded POP's and Crackles which others have reported. I will probably pick up the 300's again at some point and will try your suggested settings.

Wow Peter! You are the GOAT! (Greatest Of All Time). Can't wait to try these settings. Beginning to think the volume difference I commented on in your previous video might just be my imagination.
The treble setting and speech enhancement improves the perception of volume.
Ok Peter have tried your settings and the soundstage has definitely improved, wider, brighter, and deeper; however, I'm convinced at this point I have to increase the volume to achieve the same listening level as before with the Sonos Ones. Just wondering if it could be the lack of the front firing speakers in a more open room? For reference, action scenes in my 4k Blu-ray Atmos movies now really need volume 50-60 for that theater-like sound; whereas before, volume 30 seemed loud enough. That being said at volume 50-60 I most definitely get a better sense of fullness and immersion from the surround base and the heights at +10 with an 8ft ceiling. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the Arc is offloading more to the Era's as well as no-longer having front firing tweeters in the surrounds. It may be just a side effect of this new spatial audio that I need to adjust to. I must say though when it kicks in it really is like a being in a Dolby Cinema! A whole new beast. It would be nice though to be able to actually measure the decibels from the MLP in this case.

Hey Peter, hope all is well, I join the hundreds of people thanking you for your strong and educational work! My only question is did you flip these era’s upside down as recommended by Sonos or kept them upright?
Living in apartment. Same system except no subwoofer but a stereo pair Sonia Five instead, Arc + stereo pair Era 300s. Use the same settings except trueplay, bass at 10, loudness on for all speakers to substitute for the lack of a subwoofer. Works great!
Just added Era 300s to my Arc and Sub3 setup, fantastic upgrade from my One SLs and I haven’t even done ot Peter Pee adjustments yet!!!!
Just asking ,is it worth to remove rear one SL and add era 300 as rear ,is make any difference,?? Apparently era 300 is quite expensive

Trueplay off was definitely unexpected….I have to say it sounds incredible with these settings trueplay tames down the surrounds a lot that’s why I had to bump them up there’s plenty of sound coming from them now…wow good job Peter and thank you!! I’m waiting for my second sub but I’m not even sure I’ll need it (found it refurbished for 500 dollars)
Dual sub is definitely better but I don't think it's $750 better. Is it $500 better? I am still not sure. The problem is, one sub is already so darn good...

Interesting trueplay off was the better setting for you. I'm interested in the trueplay on with the other adjustments Peter may have added in his member only video given you've commented the surrounds were struggling under true play.

Peter, you always do such a great job explaining all of your settings! I have just purchased the Arc, Sub Gen 3, and 2 Era 300's and this has immensely helped with the setup! One question I have is whether these settings apply to watching 4k Blu-Rays from a PS5 and what adjustments on the PS5 end you might have for movies and gaming?

Love your video's and explanations. I hope you can advise me: I own the bluesound soundbar 2i with sub and rears. Great sound but thinking about moving to sonos arc, sub gen3 and a pair of era 300's. Mainly because of the atmos though. I read things about an disabled centre speaker with the 300's. Did that affect your opinion on dolby atmos with Sonos?

I had trueplay before I’ve seen this video. So just like you said I turned Trueplay of and made your recommended settings. And after that flipped the switch for trueplay on again. And wow…. The sound is so much better, clearer and the atmos sound is so much better now! Thank you Peter.
You changed the settings then turned on Trueplay in addition? Wouldn’t Trueplay ignore the changes or am I misunderstanding how Trueplay works?

@@snogrogTruePlay Ignores the EQ settings EQ reset’s after TruePlay anyways, do your TruePlay then set your EQ settings makes no difference, all TruePlay does is calibrate the Home Theater System to the Space, which is incredibly btw. Sonos’s signal processing with these speakers are rather advanced, trust the Audio Engineer’s they the ones with the Studio Degrees and $50,000 in equipment to make this all possible.
I have a home theater in my living room with an Arc, 2 subs gen 3, and 2 ERA 300s. Recently I added a second sister in another media room with an Arc, 1 sub gen3 and 2 ONEs.
Amazing how much better is the sound in the Media room. This just highlights how important is the speakers placement. In the living room I am blocking the sound coming from the side firing speakers on the Arc with two tall cabinets that are 2 feet away. The ERA 300 are not on the ideal position either. The media room is more square than the open irregular shape of the living room.
Just sharing this experience to emphasize how critical is speakers placement.

Only difference is that I’m keeping Trueplay on because of the weird layout of my living room. I’m getting more warmth in the lower mids

Peter - Returned the ERA 300 as it wasn’t to my satisfaction. I have an open living room concept therefore left side of the room was non sound existing ( open concept). I bought the ERA 100’s ( since I sold my Sonos Ones). Now I’m back to my usual sound experience way better of course with the 100’s.
Sonos eventually will have to allow the user the option of disabling or activating the front speaker.
Per Sonos fine print it reads “you will enjoy all six (6) channels from the ERA 300 watching TV, Music & Gaming. Then Sonos deactivated the front speaker.

i bought 2 units era 300 also still waiting it as it's pre-order. I also found another brand speaker also sound good which is UB+ DB1 double bass. Hope u able to make a video review it comparing with Sonos speaker
Thanks Pete worked a treat. It was good before but the treble has improved and a slight harshness removed. Can now feel the base without it thumping.. two songs at different ends of the spectrum Nina Simone My Baby Just Cares for Me and Mimi Webb Last Train To London also The Doors Riders of the Storm. For a real workout try Pink Floyd On the Run. Keep up the good work we'd be lost without you.

Can you please share your thoughts on Arc pop and sound loss issue? Luckily I am not impacted yet but there are many users reported this issue and Sonos definitely knows this problem.

You might need to pump up the sub setting from +3 to about a +5, depending the size of your room.

Firstly, keep up the awesome work.
So here’s my question for you… Which is the ultimate Sonos Arc based system:-
(A) Arc + 2 x Sub Gen 3 + 2 x Five
OR
(B) Arc + 2 x Sub Gen 3 + 2 x Era 300
FYI, based your input from this channel, I actually went with (A) above and love it.
So the question is, should I replace the 2 x Five as surrounds with 2 x Era 300.

I guess the 5 are stronger bass etc but no way near the era 300s with there upwards fireing speakers and dolby atmos. So i guess if you want more punch have the 5s but otherwise the era 300 would be better as sorrounds? I have the arc base gen 3 and 2 era 300 but im not sure whats best

With the Sub Mini, you might need to move the sub output from +3 to +5 or so.
Hi Peter. Great videos. I have the surround system with an Arc, 2 Era 300 and a Sub. Do you know is it possible to switch to a configuration for my Era 300s with Sub without my arc? I just want to hear Atmos Quality from Apple Music (without TV) from my 2 Era 300 with Sub for a moment.
Does having the trueplay turned off make the centre or forward driver in the ERA300 turn on, or is this default turned off when paired in a home theatre setup with a Atmos capable sound bar?

In your last video you explained how important true play is. In this video you have given the best settings without true play. I feel sorry for everyone who has true play but are now not given the optimal settings for true play.

Awesome! Fantastic job as always! Quick question… since you’re not turning on True Play what do you set the surround distance to? When I do True Play the surround distance are grayed out and set to “more than 10 feet”, but they are not that far in reality (not sure why it does that with true play). Should we measure the distance to the main listening position? Thanks!

Hi Joseph! Thanks for the tip! And you can use the same set of settings. This was done with the Sonos Arc with 7.1.4. Sonos doesn't tweak dual subs separately. They are treated as one. So you can just at most take 1 away from the bass settings and you are good to go.
I wish I could use a set of ERA 100s as Front Left and Right speakers in addition to the Arc. I already have a set of ERA 300s for rear surrounds and for some reason thought the ERA 100s would be good front speakers....doesn't really work that way it seems.
I have just bought 2 Sonos Era 300 to add to my Sonos Arc + Sub replacing 2 Play:3 as rears. I need some advice about the stands.
How tall are the original Sonos stands for Era 300 from to base to base (ie excluding the speaker itself)? My couch + pillows are 83/84cm tall and the ear level is about 94cm.
I am thinking whether I should go for the Sanus stands which are 82cm tall (+ speaker height) or the Sonos ones (not clear how tall but probably 96cm + speaker).
Which one would be best?

Thanks for the contribution. And I would advise that you make the settings first then you trueplay. Trueplay ignores most settings. So after you make the settings work for you, apply trueplay, you can simply toggle on and off trueplay to your liking.
