The hummer to me seems to be the only electric vehicle with any soul to it. Of course the R1T does a good job of stimulating the driver but the hummer truly feels alive with all the noises and vibrations it makes. It also stays true to its lineage with its god awful efficiency. by far my favorite EV

GMC knocked this out of the park! If Ford built this it’d be $200,000+ but still on a regular ICE F250 platform with more required expensive battery packages just to be inferior obtaining far less range anyway. Stellantis? It’ll be above *Jeep* GW prices.
GMC’s $113k price tag is well worth it when you see the attention to detail, level of tech, refinement, features and the capability here. This truck is zero comprises both interior and exterior, designed the way a 6 digit bespoke EV supertruck _should_ be.

If you've been owning nice cars for a while and trading up you can easily have 50k+ in vehicle equity (let alone any savings) and swing buying something for 100k, no problem. A $50k car loan and a $400k mortgage is less than half a month's salary for someone making only $100k a year and that's without including any other household income.

The crab walk feature isn't gimmicky. You just aren't using it correctly.
For most people who buy this truck, it will be a gimmick. Just like Mercedes's recovery (bounce) mode.

Oh yea. Super cool. That is a mega beast. At some point we’ll need to have a subconscious awareness of efficiency versus range, like we do now for MPGs. Sure it’s electric, but it takes a lot of energy to move it around. But getting a good part of our truck fleets over to EV is a good strategy.

Actually 200kwh is equivalent to about 6 gallons of gasoline in terms of energy.
It is so heavy that it can only be driven with a truck license in EU.
Car license limit is 3500kg.
The multi pro tailgate is from the 2019 and 2020 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado for Truck Month from General Motors from Chevrolet and GMC.

And the GMC Hummer EV has the 800 Volt DC fast charging up to 350 kilowatts, it does charge nearly 160 kilometers in just 10 minutes.

The GMC Hummer EV has a new setting called crabwalk mode.
Rated at 320 miles but he ragged about his predictions for poor range anyway. When the rider initially mentioned this is the best riding truck he’s ever rode in by far the driver doesn’t even bother to comment. He says it’s “nothing luxurious, no leather, no carpet, gauges are gimmicky”. The high quality looking and feeling soft touch materials and chiseled buttons are “just plastics”, and it’s nothing he’d call premium about the interior despite him complimenting the unique and high quality gold painted interior trim, high attention to detail across the cabin. The digital back-display for the HVAC controls, the glass panes above him, admitted superior ride quality, Google infotainment, etc. Nothing he’d call “premium”. Just “unique”. 😂
From what the camera’s picking up the Hummer EV twins certainly are *premium* to me at the very least! Nicer than actual luxury interiors currently on the market even, as well as better tech than what many *luxury”* brands offer. Why is the reviewer being so unreasonably critical of GMC’s Hummer? Why are there so many haters? 🧐
They keep making terrible comparisons. For example comparing the efficiency of a Hummer to a sedan. WHY?? Has anyone ever compared an H2 to a Toyota Avalon? So why do that with a Hummer EV? Because it's electric?

Shocking how loud the roof panels are. Good to know while I’m waiting for a Rivian or Hummer SUV, whichever comes first.
Shocking? There isn’t a truck on the market with removable glass panels that would be any quieter going over as rough a stretch of road at _that_ speed.
It’s essentially the same as hitting a small pothole and expecting not to hear or feel it.
I figured out why the Hummer EV range is significantly less (329mi) that the (estimated) 400mi+ range of the Silverado EV. And both most likely have the same size battery pack, and both are on the same GM BT platform.

Once the lesser Hummers models become available as just dual motor, I suspect there will be a significant jump in range and efficiency per kwh.
Since they share many similarities, I hope they bring the crab walk feature to the EV Silverado in the future

Yeah, they said the Hummer will get 400+ miles of range, but they never said that was on the Edition 1 so it has to be one of the lower trims with less goodies in it weighing it down.

Great job guys. The Hummer EV is just a perfect display of using the the maximum capabilities of what electric power plants can deliver. I simply love the fact that these car companies showing the upgrade to the off-road experience that’s possible using the EV design. The Hummer EV is just jam packed with excellent technology that dramatically expands off-road prowess. The electric powered option provides capabilities and accommodations that could never be done with traditional IC power plants in such a relevantly simple package. Very cool stuff. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

That's a genuinely cool truck! My only grouse with it will be the decades it would take to charge it everywhere, given how big the battery pack.

@@MADMAX7330 Your *home charger* shouldn’t _need_ to charge that fast. Most folks are home for more than just 10 minutes out of a 24 hour day.
@mybro727 To give some perspective of dumb range- charging the Hummer EV for 10 hrs in a standard 110V outlet at home would only get you 25- 30 miles of range. Compared to ~80miles on a Tesla Model Y. If you ever get home on a near dead battery in a Hummer, you charge overnight to barely make it to a 350kw charger so you can charge for 1.5hrs before you have an 80% battery. Home charging is useless if the EV bareley gets 1.5 miles/kwh

Question for you.. Our Ford lightning is built amazingly Solid!! Best F150 with new rear IDS. We have had a Jeep Gladiator before with the roof that comes off. How was the build quality you saw. In that cold weather (like we will have here in Wisconsin) I am a little worried about a "rattle" above my head for 115K. I am seeing some videos about leaking also. ( i am sure GMC will fix all issues.. but Rattles never seem to go away!) Thank you in advance for he advice and guidance.

Thought that that was cowl shake at first, but it does appear that the roof panels were rattling. That's a little disappointing; I hope they revise that.
Definitely reckless AF to be driving like this in that weather in a $118,000 loaner. But wow @ 23:35 was at a dead stop on a wet dangerous icy surface and hit 60mph @ 23:40.

This sounds during acceleration is very bad... Is it can turn off?
Exterior is a nice balance between futuristic and recognizably Hummer, and I like that they kept some physical interior controls instead of going touchscreen everything. Those dynamic tricks like the 4 wheel steering and crab mode are pretty wild and the power’s undeniable for sure. Wayyyyyyy too much truck than I would ever use, but I’m sure they’ll find plenty of buyers for this.
As a side note, on the whole topic of EV’s being “cool,” yes, I get that attracts a lot of attention and is great marketing. But personally, what I’m really waiting to see is a simple, driver-focused, no-BS, enthusiast-targeted EV that doesn’t feel the need to shout at everyone that it’s cool and fast and sexy. Get the basics right. Classic RWD proportions. Sporty yet subtle aesthetics. Physical interior controls. Technology in moderation. Analog touches like an analog speedo. Maybe even an analog power gauge. And *gasp* actually integrate them (and the infotainment) into the dash😱 2 maybe 3 drive modes that are actually useful. No gimmicks like overdone screen animations or silly drive mode names or fake powertrain soundtracks. Everything you need, nothing you don’t. Real noise. Low curb weight. And really sweat the chassis and driving dynamics. Let car people gravitate to it at their own pace. Some may embrace it right away, some may not. But I think that would be an effective way to bring those tired of all the cheesy marketing around to EV’s.
Oh yeah they should certainly do that! 2 people will buy one and you’ll be back in the UA-cam comments confused and complaining as to why the EV they “finally got right” is being discontinued.

The point is to offer something that speaks to the minority of people who could be interested in a simple EV driver’s car without the gimmicks and tech overload that is becoming so pervasive in EV’s currently and don’t want it shouted in their faces by marketing departments that EV’s are cool. If we really want as many people as possible to get into EV’s, this population counts too and deserves to have an offering to their tastes. It wouldn’t be for everyone, but I’d bet quite a few more than 2 people would buy it lol. I think there’s a decent chance it could persuade a sizable number of, say, ND Miata or BRZ/86 owners.
@@williamlong2682 No I’m not saying there aren’t people who wouldn’t be attracted to it, I’m saying that is totally different from the feedback that manufacturers are actually getting. They have to do the complete opposite of what you don’t think is necessary; appeal to everyone and show the world exactly of what they’re capable of. This market is wide open.
Obviously more affordable and less expensive models will be coming out like the Blazer and equinox EV. But y’all oddly seem to be in a hurry for *gm* to get to the basics, and it’s funny the tone has completely changed vs. yesteryear’s ICE *gm* perception. So with that I say *job well done,* Barra.
@@mybro727 I don’t entirely disagree with that. I do think they need to appeal to as many people as possible and get the word out. I’m just not the person who’s going to be convinced EV’s are cool by having it (figuratively) screamed at me. I think I just look at all this so differently than the average observer does. And I guess my biggest question is what all this sex appeal accomplishes. Does it just move an EV off a lot and land a sale, or does it actually grow and move car culture forward and make enthusiasts out of people? Because the latter is what I really want to see personally.

Great video but can someone review the battery details? It gets 300+ on a full charge but how does the battery usage/life compare to a Tesla that gets 300 on a full charge? Does it cost that much more to charge the Hummer?
Yes the battery pack is twice as big as a Tesla so it’s more expensive to operate
This battery is huge compared to Tesla's. You aren't buying this truck for efficiency. GM's battery tech is brand new so life expectancy and degradation over time is unknown

Daily Motor you guys were turning the wheel way too much for crab mode. You only have to slightly angle the tires for crab mode to work properly.

for 110k you don't get premium leather, surfaces, buttons, screens are not integrated into the dash. If they were looking to make the ultimate off roader it should have been smaller. It will be a great mall crawler for soccer moms. Lets see a towing review as a no compromise truck.

It's a halo vehicle. Not supposed to be mass marketed. Other GM vehicles will be derivative of this platform.
They are makeing an EV Silverado price from $40k for WT trim and 5-0 to 70 for LT & Premium Trims
