muscle and museum are the two words surrounding muse in a dictionnary! love this song cause it's very folk and very rock! guess it's my muse's song! A.
Discovered this song while sitting with my gf in a cafe. We've been together for 2 years, my longest relationship and she has been much more than a girlfriend for me. I was suicidal, she pulled me from there and now our paths are gonna seperate because we both are going to university. She doesn't know yet but I'll study abroad can't tell her yet because of some reasons and can't even begin to tell how it is hard for me. Between these thoughts I found this masterpiece but I don't think it will help me.
Then you'll break up with her and go suicidal again ,.. but look at the bright side , you'll find another chick abroad that will get you out of depression and the cycle goes on ,
Thanks dude, just did :D My world went upside down after summer ended. Now the girl I valued that much and my used o be best friend are at the same university and I'm just trying to keep my sanity at hand.
It's a break-up song really; it's about how one person can put so much into a relationship and not get anything back. So much so that the person putting in the effort eventually gets sick of it.. I think the lyric "I have played in every toilet" simply refers to crappy venues they've performed at? -Going back to the idea of putting in loads of effort and it not being reciprocated. Nonetheless this song is amazing.
@SupermassiveArseHole i read an interview of matt in which he said that's about a forbidden love affair between two people who really want each other but can't be together
Well, I'm kind of a new fan of Muse and actually I started listening to them after the first Twilight movie, but I don't see that as a problem. The movie was just the way I could know about the band, the rest was just because of their music that is fucking amazing. I fell in love with Uprising and Time is running out, and I keep on searching more and more about them. I love their style, their lyrics, the sound, everything. I've just discorvered this song and I think I'm loving them even more.
I think you mean Time is Running Out. You literally cannot beat Muse. They are amazing in every way. A lot of people say that Origin of Symmetry is their best album, so definitely give that a listen to - especially Bliss, Plug in Baby and Dark Shines. Personally, my favourite album is The 2nd Law, their most recent. Unsustainable, although incredibly different from most of their work, is my favourite from the album. Animals in fantastic too. Welcome to the club new Muse fan ^_^
Yeah, it was my mistake with the song title, I feel bad about it 'cause is one of my favs from the band. :/ And thanks for the recommendations, I'll listen to them. All their songs are fantastic and The 2nd Law is really good despite what some people say. It's different and that's why it's so brilliant.
LaurenStephaniexo It definately IS Origin of Symmetry, Absolution and Muscle Museum with Black Holes and Revelations being a very solid album. Though Muse were one of my favorite bands, you can find out so many other bands that are quite superior! Try Porcupine Tree out ;)
Mary Alice Bielinski All of their albums are incredible and so different from each other, but that's what makes them so great, in my opinion. So many bands stay the same (not necessarily a bad thing) but I love that Muse try a little of every genre in their music. I'm so excited for their next album, which I believe will be called Drones. If you haven't listened to the Absolution album yet, definitely do. It was their first album I heard, with Stockholm Syndrome being their first song I listened to. Amazing, and still one of my favourites :)
+Rubarb51 2 things, 1. I know it's silly but "stoll" really bro? 2. I'm curious by what degree you mean that becasue building off of each other's work is one of the amazing things humans do, imagine if a world existed where the themes of lovecraft weren't built upon. As well it's hard to make unique tracks given there are only so many combinations and only so many that sound good.
when heard it first time we all got the same impression , here's a special band , very special

Muse's song are usually over dramatical and come across too sanctimonious for my liking, however, I could listen to this one and connect with it's lyrics!
They were trying to perform in bars and clubs while writing Showbiz, but after lots of failed attempts, he did a gig in a toilet. I actually think it was The Cavern Club, but I'll get my book and try and find out for you!
I just listened to this song for the first time and I am now depressed because I know I will never be able to hear this song for the first time ever again.
My favorite part: Can you see that i am needing, begging for so much more than you could ever give And i don't want you to adore me Don't want you to ignore me
This album, and this particular masterpiece, are often and sadly forgotten. I'm not a big fan of Muse, but their evolution from this raw and unique album to The 2nd Law is something to be admired. I don't think the same of Drones, which I find artificially raw and naked, with much less lyrical and structural depth than their least deep album. I really miss the not-so-old Muse, without all the spectacle and paraphernalia that they didn't ever need. At least, they didn't until their last album. Excuse my divagation, I just wanted to express my admiration to this song, one of Muse's finest. Enjoy music.
I'm not sure if this is an absolute fact but I heard that Muse searched the word "Muse" in the dictionary and took the word before it (Muscle) and the word after it (Museum). Put them together, and Voila! Muscle Museum. No idea if that has any meaning though.
@toxicumbrella buenooooo yo escuche por ahí que trata de la banda en sus inicios por eso pide que "i dont want you to adore me, dont want you to ignore me when it pleases you " ... ser fans... y por lo de "i have played in every toilet..." literalmente se refiere que en sus inicios tocaban en lugares muy de baja calidad....
Yes Its An Actual Lyric This Song Is About How Hard Its Was Starting Up The Band And "Played In Every Toilet" Means They Would Have Played Anywhere Live
@andrei marcu I was telling you to translate the the text I just wrote in another language. I'm suprised you're still here actually. 8 different people all commented to you and you still fight back. How... annoyingly admirable of you.
I LOVE MUSE. AND I LOVE THIS SONG. AND I WILL BE SO FUCKING TIRED TOMORROW, BUT MUSE IS OBVIOUSLY MORE IMPORTANT THEN ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE. AND YES I FELT THE NEED TO SHOUT THIS.
@liroj10 Nice! I saw them live once too, before they became really famous... must have been around the year 2000, don't remember exactly. :) Care doesn't cover it but it's always nice to learn how people where introduced to Muse. The more fans the marrier! lol See ya. :)
Mine is shrinking universe. Than this. I could've never fathom the lyrics when I heard this song when I was a just a kid. Now these these lyrics express the way I'm feeling inside. Unbelievable...

The only advice that I can give you is don't listen Johnny Cash-Hurt. It would fuck you up for life.
Thanks dude, just did :D My world went upside down after summer ended. Now the girl I valued that much and my used o be best friend are at the same university and I'm just trying to keep my sanity at hand.
omer levent Women only trade up, they're extremely shallow
this song's ending is so chilling, in a way only Muse can be.
The listen to the acoustic version of the song

I discovered muse the same way but with watchmen instead of Twilight
fun fact the 'guitar' solo is actually matts voice like hes singing to the amp
fun fact, muse Stoll from Radiohead to make muscle museum ..along with many other muse songs ..same applies to cold play
+Rubarb51 WTF
+Rubarb51 fun fact, some Radiohead fans need to pull their heads out of Thom Yorke's arse.
+Silvarret I agree with you that we radiohead fans have to do that, because we're bored of his music, but when we listen to Muse music we have hope
+Rubarb51 2 things, 1. I know it's silly but "stoll" really bro? 2. Who else just waits for the heavy rift that comes after
It's escaped your world
I HAVE PLAYED IN EVERY TOILET-

Ivy im pretty sure, it might even be a bit of both. in early live performancez , he does actually sing that line as well
I just listened to this song for the first time and I am now depressed because I know I will never be able to hear this song for the first time ever again.
Matt said that the song was about conflict between the body and the mind.

Showbiz is one of the best albums
My favorite part:

mu is the 12th letter of the greek alphabet.
sic means "as intentionally so written", or like in "sic the dog".
mu= 12th letter of the greek alphabet, a lost continent, an opiate recptor
sic="inetntionally so written"
German !
I agree
Is it really "every toilet", or was that a joke/typo? XD
Yes Its An Actual Lyric This Song Is About How Hard Its Was Starting Up The Band And "Played In Every Toilet" Means They Would Have Played Anywhere Live

@TunaParaLuna15 haha no, that is the lyrics XD it refers to the range of crappy venues they played in before they made it biiig x)
By your reasoning, I could ask you yourself if you understand English, because nothing you say even moderately resembles a real sentence.
Mine is shrinking universe. Than this. I could've never fathom the lyrics when I heard this song when I was a just a kid. Now these these lyrics express the way I'm feeling inside. Unbelievable...
@toxicumbrella Cada quien le da su interpretación. :)
