The new BMW Z4 is a very modern addition to the brand’s long history of engrossing roadsters. Two-seater with fully electric fabric soft-top. Radically revised proportions, central seating position, shorter wheelbase for increased agility and wider tracks than its predecessor. Weight-saving measures and ideal 50 : 50 weight distribution, aerodynamically optimised body.

Powering the new Z4 will be a choice of BMW's latest turbocharged petrol engines.
The new BMW Z4 M40i features a straight-six unit with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology. Its standout features include a water-cooled exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head, sharper turbocharger response and superior acceleration, and direct injection technology, which now works at increased maximum pressure of 350 bar. Drivers have a maximum output of 340hp at their disposal, plus 500Nm of peak torque.
Variable sport steering comes as standard on all model variants, while the electronically controlled dampers, M Sport brakes and electronically controlled M Sport rear differential fitted as standard to the BMW Z4 M40i make the car even nimbler on the road.

Have a 30i on order, same color scheme (except have the black wheels). Can't wait to drive it. Great review and also makes me miss driving in Ireland!

Charlie, I've been told the engine in the 30i is exactly the same as the 20i, just with a different ECU map. Do you know if this is indeed the case or, otherwise, what else is different ?

Thank you very much, but I was asking about the technical differences between the two 2.0 units (20i and 30i). I've been told by a dealer there's just a different ECU mapping, if that's the case it's hard to justify the price difference.

It is indeed a goodlooking car, but I still think the previous model, the E89, is much, much more beautiful and more sexy.

Where is the Sports PLUS mode?? On my 20i Manual there's only Sport, and I am not getting many pops and crackles out of the exhaust - do I need to rev it real hard???
Press the sport button twice for sport+
@@andrewkinsella3509 There is no 2x press on that button! I think it only comes with models with rear differentials and adaptive damping, I don't have them!
Why have a baby buggy in the boot when the car only has 2 seats ?
Because of this revolutionary thing called isofix and for context of space.
