1:20 Caleb walks up with the perfectly timed cymbal choke. Nice. I guess Caleb does write and play all of the instruments on their records. So he knows all if the parts in each song really well. As simple as this cymbal choke may appear, it really does make that part sound a lot more badass than of the cymbal just rang out
True, very true!...An alternative way could've been Caleb just knowing when Connor D. hits that crash and time it well.
He writes all of the bands stuff. He even recorded the first EP completely by himself. (He was the only band member at this point)

@@DieParan00bs If you look at live performances of August Burns Red, Jake sometimes does some clean cymbal chokes for Matt. I think it's not as much a question of writing the parts as knowing them and great camaraderie between the band members.
@@DieParan00bs He recorded the nexts albums by himself too btw. Except he was not recording in his house but in the studio hired by redbull records

It's refreshing to see him having so much fun with these songs. I was expecting a less-than-stellar performance, and he absolutely surprised me.

Crazy seeing how far Denis has come. First saw him on his videos of him doing drum lessons with the all might Aaron Gillespie of Underoath. That is why he is so aggressive and has a similar style. Aaron is one of his inspirations

I saw this band/guy in Detroit,MI, and was one the best drummers of all Warped Tour. Seriously the bass drum and snare kicked my chest.

This dude deserves some credit. He doesn't overplay and isn't doing anything super technical but he has some super unique snare fills at uncommon points of the song as well as using his Tom's uniquely. He just has the feel. Can't explain it. Reminds of Daniel Davidson.

Naw he was kinda sloppy with BAAO. He's cleaned up pretty well and he's super solid in Beartooth. His aggression fits in better here. BAAO went crazy soft.

Has anyone ever been in his situation being in a band but not having any creative control or even being the one playing om the record? If so how do you keep motivated to play? I feel like that's like I wouldn't be able to give those up and still be a happy musician.
Sounds like you’re in a band with Dave Grohl. You might need to start a new band if you want creative input.

does anyone know how you call the fills he plays at 1:32 and 1:37? or what kind of combination it is?
Mex Hurms first off, is that a trash talk photo in your icon? If so, very rad. Secondly, I checked that part out and I’m pretty sure you just create these fills very simply by doing RLRL with the hands followed by RL with the feet, and in different combinations. It’s pretty much one of the most common metalcore combination fills that you basically can create by hitting different parts on the kit (between snare and toms of course). I hope that makes sense.
