The terrablade no longer has a timer on it's projectile it fires one every swing now so having tons of melee speed on it is actually insane now
yeah putting some forges into violent isnt too bad of a strat now
I literally used this to do daytime Empress of Light. The range and projectile speed are just long enough to be very comfortable.
Really strange how everyone's saying that because it never had a cooldown timer
Everyone says terra blade is good with high melee speed but it's just as good with damage.
@@kittens0010 Maybe my wording wasn't too clear here (sorry if that's the case) but pre 1.4.4 the terrablade didn't fire a projectile every swing, and increasing your swing speed wouldn't make it fire projectiles more often. However since 1.4.4 it now fires a projectile on every swing so increasing melee speed will make it fire more often.

imo its probably the most powerful preboss weapon. carried me all the way until i was able to craft the nights edge
Boomstick is better imo. But definitely much harder to get

If you think the Blade of Grass is good now, just wait until you get a Magma Stone. That got a major buff too and I love seeing all the little damage numbers add up so quickly.
The new blade of grass basically carried me through all the pre hardmode

COMBINE YOUR ACCESSORIES. balloon and a double jump not combined is enough to drive me insane.
Yea I noticed that too like combine the accessories and also find horse shoe to combine with it 2 because then he won't take fall damage!
Having two accessories with reforges is better than having one combined accessory and an empty slot. Though yes that does look awful

I actually prefer blade of grass than the volcano i think (fiery greatsword). Because the fiery greatsword follow your movement and blade ofgrass have greater range than it.
also the knockback is SOOO good
The volcano is just better at dealing against enemies and you can't rely on the blade of grass' projectiles
The volcano is hard to use
i like to use volcano against skeletron (since it literally decimates its hands) but against all other first bosses blade of grass + chakram is top tier
And i prefer muramasa over both

I’d like to point out that poisoning enemies is significantly more effective than lighting them on fire.
You can combine the staff of regrowth and a copper axe to get a axe of regrowth. It collects more plants and will replant trees when you break them
I wish you could combine the tri-marang, thorn chakram, flamearang and maybe the mechanics wrench into a sort of nightsedga-rang. Might well add an upgrade to combine it with the light disc for the terra-rang
And for the 1.5 update, we got the ze-na-rang
Shadow armor got buffed, it's got a similar effect to Magiluminescence now and it stacks with it.

I dont know if this has been discussed or anything. But you could use the loadout system to switch between shadow and gladiator armour for set bonuses or put one ore the other in the vanity slot and just right click to swap quickly to swap without having to get additional accesories. Again not sure if this has been discuseed. :)
if there is a shallow puddle on the ground not in the jungle (like the one at 7:54) there is a sky island above it
0.711% chance of getting slime staff at least once if 50 kills at 1/7000 is accurate. Pretty lucky.
I would suggest finding the simmer early, there's a lot of great things you can get from it that are painfully helpful in the early game

The advantage of the machete is really fast throwing speed at close ranges
I feel like almost every boomerang projectile does the same thing when you get close. Unless the machete has a special effect I’m unaware of
@@Zorkalot Yes, but there is a difference in the minimum delay between throws.
The update made most boomerangs have a slightly higher minimum time, the machete can be thrown in succession noticeably faster than most boomerangs I’ve used in prehardmode, and does pretty good damage for such an early weapon.
To test it out, try throwing each weapon directly at the ground with autofire on.

You got lucky on the slime staff drop. My wife and I had to set up a farm to get it and even at that it took us close to the end of the game for it to drop

heres my tip. nights edge absolutely shreds WOF now, its insane, also very good through early hardmode.
for context I think the blade of grass is in a good spot since an appropriate comparison would be the boomstick from the jungle
My strategy has always been go straight for the jungle, it’s good for literally every class
Shadow scale gives crit now not melee speed and boost movement acceleration like the glowing necklace thing

Bro you really should make the Axe of regrowth it's really nice for early game because it auto plants acorns grows grass on dirt and has 150 axe power only needing some vines, the Staff of regrowth and a copper axe

The snow armor dropped from frozen zombies has been buffed with a set bonus that grants immunity to Frozen and chilled, so now I dare you to use it against the Deerclops. Also, the Staff of Regrowth is now a material and I highly recommend crafting its upgrade.

You should definitely try out the volcano. I don’t know if the strongest but it’s really fun making enemies explode. And it kills a lot of things in one hit
My goto recommendation for early Hardmode would be the Bladetongue. A sword obtained by fishing in the underground Crimson that splashes ichor when used. That helped me a lot during my melee run. ^^

God, I remember when the chakram was first introduced. That thing was busted back in the day!
I actually went in the jungle with my wooden yoyo and time in mastermode ftw just for the blade of grass and thorn chakram. It took about an hour but the payout is pretty great. Took alot of boxing myself in and slowly boxing in the enemies though.
You should try the blood butcher sword it has a really cool ability! Love the videos keep it up man :D

Personally, the best part of this update was my device not crashing every 30 minutes anymore. It’s been seriously annoying for the 2-3 years I have played terraria so I must say this is the best update. Even better than the one a year ago that had removed lag for me altogether.
Bro I seriously recommend the axe of regrowth. You literally have all the ingredients already and it has 150 axe power. It even replants trees when you break them.
Something that isn’t very important but is kinda cool is with staff of regrowth you can make an axe that replants acorns
i was able to kill the eater in my "specialist" playthrough with a blowpipe (wooden chest loot) because of how strong poison darts are.
also the shadow armor gives critical strike and a ton of mobility
other than that you NEED to check out the new axe of regrowth

All the weapons for the Terra Blade got reworked
Light's Bane now summons a slash of darkness that deals half damage wih 5 armor penetration
Blade of Grass is what you mentioned now summons leaves that deal half damage with 20 armor penetration
Blood Butcherer is like Tentacle Spike in which when you strike an enemy, a stackable debuff called blood butchered is applied
Muramasa now creates a slash when striking an enemy that deals half damage and has 5 armor penetration
Fiery Greatsword/Volcano now when striking an enemy, creates a plume that damages nearby enemies
Night's Edge now creates a dark purple aura that extends the weapons overall range
Excalibur and True Excalibur now create an aura above the blade, also extending their range (True Excalibur no longer creates a projectile when swung)
True Night's Edge creates an aura around a player, launching a green spinning disc projectile
Terra Blade now has an green aura when swung, and fires a green wave on every swing
Also the horseman's blade now has its damage doubled and has an orange aura around the blade similar to the excalibur (Flaming Jacks now deal the same damage as the sword and no longer spawn from statue spawned enemies)
in early hardmode, my favorite build is frost armor/hel-fire with the queen spider staff and a cursed flask. you apply frostburn, hellfire, venom, and cursed flames, do solid damage with the yoyo, and have good tank. you said you wanted a debuff build, here it is!
That sounds super cool, I'll likely check out something similar to this once we reach hardmode!
You wanna do a dot build? I got some suggestions.
First when you get the nights edge also try to get the magma stone and flasks of poison that'd be the best dot in pre-hardmode
Second in hard mode get frost armor and a flask of cursed flames and if you feel up for not using a sword for a bit get the shadowflame knife too for some insanty and maybe hang on to the magma stone for the fire debuf I personally like to call this little set up the "disco inferno" due to enemies being on fire in four separate hues so to summarize we have shadowflame, cursed inferno, frost biten, and hellfire its as strong as it sounds and even more fun to actually use
The Drunk seed doesn't have any luck modifiers that I know of. I think you really did just get that lucky.
Add the accessory that lets you have fire attacks with all weapons. Fire+poison would be insane. Need to make this sword still

Blade of Grass god such a huge upgrade, while the damage may have tanked, it skyrocketed in attack speed, and the defense piercing projectile along with the overall DoT debuff changes makes it a far superior weapon to how it felt last time. Would definitely recommend upgrading your Staff of Regrowth this playthrough, btw! It has a fantastic upgrade :D

No yeah, someone performed a bunch of tests in 1.4.4 to see how quickly weapons could kill bosses and blade of grass performed on par with, or sometimes BETTER than, star fury, which was pretty much the ONLY option that melee had for the entirety of pre-hardmode before the update. At least for the first few bosses, by skeletron it started really falling off compared to star fury or other similar options (*cough cough volcano*). It is by NO means a bad weapon, though, it's insane how good blade of grass is thanks to the update!
That weapon straight up went from a complete joke to one of THE best pre-boss swords in the game and I'm all for it!
Crafted this last night and it's helped so much in Legendary mode man... so much.
I'm kinda glad that melee weapons are bonker rn, because before pure melee was kinda useless before HM, and even then was kinda underwhelming unless you get certain specific weapons (I'm looking at you SotC and Vampire Knives), and was basically a challenge run for getting rewarded with the Zenith at the end, after you already have nothing left to do. And yes, before someone comments, I know in Normal Mode melee is like literally unkillable, but in Master Mode you can't tank even a SLIME lmao
blade of grass always had a chance to give poison, also it triggers me that you made the shadow helmet even though you got the ancient one (if you don't know it still gives the set bonus)

Poison - blade of grass/thorn chakaram
Bleed - blood butcherer
On fire - flamerang
Frost burn - ice boomerang
(Flasks could substitute to i guess)
Also if you wanted to focus on melee speed then the shadow armor would be good to make
The Volcano feels even better, it just deletes Skeletron's arms chunk by chunk

My latest play though I rushed musket to go to jungle got broomstick then farmed for the 2 jungle weapons and yeah they pretty good, carried till edge of night

Concerning the rare drops, did a multiplayer server a week ago master mode random seed and we also had some crazy drops, 3 slime staffs in total and I got a RoD after like 40 chaos elementals, maybe they buffed these rates or it's master mode exclusive

there is now an auto swing/fire option in the menu so the feral claws aren't necessary so its only use is melee speed and the fire gauntlet. also try flails.
Doing another melee playthrough with the boys for the 1.4.4 update. Blade of grass is CRAZY it solos EoC and BoC (haven't tried EoW) it's also amazing at taking out skeletons hands, for the head Id say a boomerang is better. It might have trouble with queen bee though
I started an expert run, and I got all three of the ancient shadow armor pieces before king slime
I think they buffed luck chances in general because I have been getting a lot of rarer drops
If you're going for a debuff build , you could use a magma stone with flasks

Btw putting crit chance on accessories give much higher dps than putting damage (obv doesn’t affect summoner) before y’all say im wrong I’ve literally tested it the crit chance did better than both damage and melee speed
Try out the magiluminescense accessory its so good i used it until the eol fight
I've used it in the past, it's a super nice accessory. I also hear that the effect stacks with shadow armor so I'll likely give it a go next episode!
Hey, if you really want an optimized playthrough just get iron/silver armor, then go attack the brain of cathulu and get the tissue samples. Then just yeet down to hell and get molten armor. Typically I get molten armor just after or before the eye of cathulu. I only play hardcore so thats why I do that but it works.

I don't think they should nerf it. The jungle is pretty hard early game, so if you went though the trouble of farming there, congrats. Just like going to underworld to farm for some pre WoF weapons is fair game
the hive-five is pretty strong if paired with hive pack, i would recommend trying it out
you should check out the chlorophyte set bonus it got updated and overhauled

blade of grass is also stupid easy to craft, it’s definitely the best of the preHM swords imo (besides night’s edge ofc)

On paper it does not look so good but it hits multiple times. On my testing it reacher 6th best dps out of all pre-hm melee weapons.
1.terragrim 400-500dps
2.nights edge 350-450 dps
3.sunfury/murasma 300-500 dps
4.dark lance 300-400 dps
6. Storm spear/bladed glove 260-340dps
consider sorting out your NPCs for the pylons and much lower prices (especially focus on making the Goblin as happy as possible)

I have been farming for rod of discord and have killed 500+ chaos elementals and still havnt gotten the rod but I have about 7 or 8 slime staffs sitting in my chests
