Not a fan of the clear plastic on this but I absolutely love how the Stealth Suit version looks. That blue is going to pop in the collection and the plastic doesn't look that bad because they went with a blue tint :)
Same but it's growing on me as I watch the video lol. Like the whole thing I mean, not just the armor but the gantry setup and the suitcase. I hate the clear plastic tho. HATE. What's it supposed to be? Like a shield glow or something?
I remember seeing the photos of this figure when it was announced. I thought the clear plastic pieces looked like a force field around the figure like he has in the some of his comics. It is too bad they didn't make more pieces swappable because it really is a great looking figure. Thanks Justin!
Of course Hot Toys would't make just a plain classic Iron Man like everyone wanted (maybe some panel lining to make more modern), but no, they have to experiment on some shit. Imagine how much time they've wasted to engineer the clear panels that no one wanted
I’m having a tough time being sold on the clear pieces, especially the ones that are fixed…. Has anyone figured out what they are supposed to simulate? Has Hot Toys explained that at all? Outside of all that, the new War Machine they just released for preorder is REALLY f’n sweet. Kinda want it.
What my understanding is that during the run of Iron Man this figure represents, Iron Man actually has a micro-shielding system than looked very similar to this in the comic panels.
the artist they collaborated with is famous for clear statues. Pia Syphid was the name IIRC. A true representation of the artists work would have clear plastic ALL over 100% of the figure. A true comic version would have none (beyond arc reactors and eye lenses). HT went with a half assed semi clear rendition with captures neither look.
The suit is based off the model 4 which is one of my favorite versions although the clear plastic isn’t the best look it is different. I’m just happy to see the classic armors on here now considering they haven’t done a lot of them
If you wanna know how much Justin hated the clear plastic then just look at the posing section at the end. Even with 4 poses he never one put the plastic chest back on, the only time you get to see it is when he take it out of the box :) PS: love the 4 poses, give the figure more time to shine with different accessories
I'm totally with you Justin, this figure would've been an absolute must if it would just be painted. Can't wait to see customizers have a go at it. On the sidenote though, your posing game has come to the absolute top level, each and every one of them are pure perfection. 😍🔥
For those of you wondering about the clear plastic, it's because this is an original design from an artist who makes a lot of sculpture using clear plastic
What really bums me about this figure is the clear plastic. Seriously hot toys! Just re-release this figure without the clear plastic and give us some painted red armor!
You’re not over exaggerating, I was so looking forward to hearing that all of the plastic pieces were swappable. This is very disappointing and worse Hot Toys has not explained why the hell they did this in the first place. The plastic LITERALLY has nothing to do with the original concept other than what to give it an Alex Ross artsy shine, which they could have done with just brighter metallic paint. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to this one and they JUST released the War Machine which they apparently did the same thing to. I have never been so upset over a release because I have been hoping and waiting of a good representation of the Iron Man and War Machine I grew up with as a kid in 1/6 scale, and when I saw these I was so excited until I saw the plastic. And then I waited to see if the plastic was swappable….and you just confirmed it is not. Hot Toys really dropped the ball with this figure. UPDATE ON MY RANT: But what do you expect from a company who thinks the WAR MACHINE ARMOR DEBUTED IN 1979. James Rhodes officially debuted at that time. The War Machine armor (Model 11) made its first appearance in Iron Man #281 (June 1992) less than a month after the original Armor War saga and Tony was shot and paralyzed.

Morning, Justin. I bought the regular version, because they just hit New York. When the Deluxe drops i plan on buying that too. Normally i don't buy two of the same figures, but in Iron Man's case i'll make an exception....
I don't really like the transparent plastic... But it's a very good figure. I'm lovin 'it. This figure seems to come out of the vignettes of the comics. However, every day you explain things better. good video. & don't stop Justin!
They partnered with an artist for the design who specializes in adding clear parts to his sculptures. They liked his work so much that they asked him to design the Origins Collection Iron Man figures. I am not a fan though. I would have preferred the standard painted parts.
I got mine. What a beautiful figure! If only you could remove every piece of plastic. I'm still happy I bought it, but it is frustrating. It could have been almost perfect (by the way- I'm finding it impossible to switch the countermeasure round discs).

The Clear Plastic is Iron Man only thing and only adds a unique factor to this list, that even if you don’t prefer, deserves to be appreciated
Let’s agree to disagree. Having a comics based iron man with swappable face plates to replicate the looks he had over the years is more than enough unique factor. The stealth armor is stunning indeed, if they had tinted the clear plastic red here like they did the blue on the stealth armor it may have actually worked better!

Agreed the non removable clear plastic shouldn't have been approved. I just don't think anyone would prefer this over removable or one without clear plastic.
I’ve been thinking on getting this Ironman, but the clear plastic still scares me. I’m thinking on maybe spraying a clear gloss or satin top coat on it. Has anyone tried it?

As previously mentioned, the next 2 figures (Stealth Suit Iron Man / War Machine) in this line of figures look much better to my eye.
Fair enough!
But see now in retrospect, and with feedback from the community, I imagine they will go out of their way to make a more faithful version
I hope so!
Agreed the non removable clear plastic shouldn't have been approved. I just don't think anyone would prefer this over removable or one without clear plastic.
Very frustrating
First to like the video 😂 so happy now
Nah bro 50 seconds too slow
Thank you!
I’ve been thinking on getting this Ironman, but the clear plastic still scares me. I’m thinking on maybe spraying a clear gloss or satin top coat on it. Has anyone tried it?
That might work!
Sideshow just revealed a regular non transparent comic hot toy Ironman today so you can just buy that one.
Great review! I’m wondering can those non-changeable plastic parts be removed by force?
Think about it, if the clear plastic is 40% of the bulk of the foot and you take it off, what would that look like?
@@JustinsCollection That will look quite awkward as well, unless it’s removed and repaint it.
I hope they make iron man armored adventures if you know that show
That would be cool! I do know it
Just out of interest do the belly and feet clear pieces come off?
No
I am sorry but that clear plastic sucks! I think it pretty much ruins this figure. You couldn't pay me to pick this one up! I did however, just aquire the Iron Man Mark V and the Midas Mark XX1 and they are both Awesome! I was on the fence about the Midas Armour but thanks to watching your videos Justin, I picked it up and that Midas Armour is pretty darn cool! Keep up the great work Justin!
Fair enough!
This a definite pass for me. I just can't with the plastic. But I'm sure someone out there will pry all the plastic panels off.
Fair enough!
@@JustinsCollection Oddly enough, the Origins War Machine doesn't seem bad with the plastic. I guess it's because it's barely noticeable, and that there's not much of it on him.
Why is it made with clear plastic?
That’s just the style they went with
What can i say that hasn't already been said. I love this comic look, but theses clear plastic parts kill any chance of me obtaining this. I also wonder if the plastic will begin to yellow or discolor in a few years. Thank you for the review.
Fair enough!
it will look way better if that clear transparent are not there. it does looks awesome TBH, but the clear transparent uuurrghh daaamn
Agreed
I love this figure it is so clean but the clear plastic is really a bad part
Agreed
