All those beautiful die cast pieces covered in plastic. This could've been one Iron Man to rule them all, but Hot Toys really missed the ball on this one.

I just think that the glossy and reflective quality that the clear plastic evokes can be replicated by some super chrome, glossy paint. You can almost see the effect on the gold things as they reflect that bluish tinge from the background. And it wouldn't encumber the figure with the added layer of the clear plastic, the un-eveness of the look compared to the bare areas and the possibility layer on that the clear plastic would yellow or be cracked easily.
In fact, the alternative face plate of the stealth suit has that beautiful chrome paint job.
Would have been an instant buy for me if it wasn't for the plastic. Oh well. Hoping for a re-issue one day
It looks cool I can appreciate the comics design but it's just not for me. Not digging the plastic pieces although I will say that base is pretty cool!

Cannot wait to pair this with the new suit up Mk5, create a version of old skool suit up and modern suit up.
The design and silhouette are perfect, but I wouldn't be able to look at this on my shelf without feeling disappointed. A pass for me which is a shame because it is so close to being a damn near perfect Iron Man figure.

Looks okay but yeah they dropped the ball. They should have made the Invincible Ironman 1970. Shoulder and disc look weird.
I have called the wambulance 🚑 to come pickup all the community complainer’s.
The plastic overlay would be a great effect on other characters, like Invisible Woman or Trevor Fitzroy. Not sure about Iron Man though.
Im going to pass on these. But if you could remove all the plastic all three would have been instant preorders for me. Such a shame.
Really nice figure over all one of my favorite classic Ironman designs but I can definitely see how the plastic is a problem, I don’t know if it was a creative idea or what but what I can say is it kinda toys with the figure. I very much like the comic aspect of the figure though so I may just buy it just for that it would be a nice first figure for something like me.
Ryan, you should really check out Lael’s posing video. This figure is a hidden gem with proper lighting and posing. I just ordered mine.

I didn’t initially like classic suit Spidey either. But it’s become one of my favorite figures of all time.

I pre-ordered the deluxe edition. I am liking the comic versions of these characters. I was on the fence about Thor and once in hand love it. I am worried about the clear parts but I may be taking them off. I am looking forward for this guy to come in.
You can only take a few of the plastic parts off, but not all of them. Your only option is painting them
Wish Hot Toys would've beefed up the shoulders and done more to hide the battery compartments. I like what they're doing with the Stealth Suit (by coloring the clear plastic) more than what they did with this figure.

I like that they are doing the classic figure. The candy apple red really pops but since they added that clear plastic made me pass on it. Great review 👍
Maybe they should have offered one without the plastic parts? With the diorama and plastic bits being offered in a deluxe. Who knows, not for me but I'm sure it will sell.

definitely an interesting figure. Not one I'll be getting (at least at full price) but is an attractive figure. The Asian market will be happy to get yet another Iron Man figure, to be sure. thanks Ryan

Great review Jedha! I think I'm going to pass on this one and wait for the Stealth version instead. I like the blue tinted plastic look on that one compared to the clear look here.

If all the plastic was removeable I would have put this up in the top 3 Iron Man figures and would have bought it instantly. As it is, I wont go near it. Cheers for the great review

I won’t lie, i honestly like it. Probably in a small boat saying that but apart from the clear plastic part’s used which definitely ruin the design, it’s a solid lookin iron man. I also guess i like it just because i am a sucker for that classic comic look like alex ross in a way.

It definitely looks better when the parts are swapped out and some of the plastic is removed

I've never seen them create an Ironman figure where everybody is united with the same complaint those plastic pieces I could honestly see somebody creating a UA-cam video on how to slowly but safely cut off the plastic pieces off of these Iron Man and if they don't create a video I could definitely see somebody doing that and posting it on social media
Ok. Excuse my ignorance. Are the plastic bits meant to replicate shields of some kind? Does/did Ironman have clear/Invisible shields around his suit? I just don’t know enough about Ironman’s suits through the ages to know why the clear plastic bits are there.
Most Ironman suits had to be specially enhanced for that this is just the basic armor I don’t think it had shields
I think it generally looks cool once all the diorama is set up around it. But there's definitely proportion and material choices that didn't quite work out. It's a shame too because the overall concept is great it's just kind of poorly done. Or should I say poor decisions where made. Also I'll say that with the amount of iron man figures hot toys have done you'd think they would have nailed this straight out of the gate

Such a shame that all the clear parts can’t be removed, but the stealth version seems to use that to its advantage. More interested in that one. Getting kinda tired of Hot Toys Iron Man figures though tbh; I feel like they need to move on to new stuff at this point lol. Maybe if they do more unique armors, I’ll change my tune.

Yikes. Those shoulder joints suck. Looks like Iron Man had both arms pulled out of their sockets.
Such a shame they did the plastic thing I'd only get this if it was massively reduced in price
Every part of him is muscular but he has a little bit of spaghetti arms for an Ironman
This is literally the *only* Hot toys figure I am buying this year... Everything else is basically garbage or a re-hash....

I wouldn’t get this figure. The hard plastic is something I am not a fan of. But the iron man diorama is great.

Kinda hard to believe there are so many haters in this comments. I personally think this is such a wonderful idea and it is obviously a new design of Iron Man. I am not so much bothered with that clear plastic parts. In fact, it escalates everything about this figure. I already got one for myself, and I am LOVING it.

i think your right the arms are a little small and also looks weird to me in some shots. but I can look pass that with stealth suit iron man as that figure for sure better looking figure in my opinion. But this figure looks alright could be better as they say it is what it is.

Easy pass for me. However, if they do a Wolverine (tiger stripe and/or brown) in this line I'll pick it up.
I just don't know what they were thinking with this. Even without the plastic it'd still look weird to me, especially with the way the arms connect at the shoulders; I just can't imagine there being a person insode that suit.
That’s the first thing I notice. The huge gaps around his shoulders and the rod/joint exposed looks totally retarded.

This was a pass from the announcement. I’m not really a comic guy. I’m more of a MCU fan so while it looked cool and the plastic I could overlook it’s just not for me.

sorry but this is just gross looking without that aweful looking plastic this would be the perfect invicible iron man figure.this is why I went with the kotobukiya staute instead.
IMO it’s a plastic hot mess , if collectors like it , I love it ,just not for me .
SUPER UGLY PLASTIC what a waste of money! Plus Ironman doesn't even wear that stupid plastic in comics worse Ironman design no thanks!
