There are more then 5 love languages... Mine is Space. I need my partner to believe in me, and be self sufficient enough to leave me alone for periods of time, and let me go do things by myself.
Another one is food. You might say that falls under acts of service, but being skilled enough to prepare good nutritious food is quickly becoming a lost art.

Curiosi Tea I’m the same way! I’m definitely an acts of service, and someone giving me food is the ultimate!

Your languages of love sound to me like personal application the existing ones. Like acts of service or gift giving (with food) and quality time (with space). Quality time for me worms both ways, in terms of having quality time together as well as apart.

When I first began going on silent meditation retreats with my Sangha; it was truly eye opening regarding the tendency toward projection. You practice for a week; a month, or longer with folks you don't talk to. We all realized after the retreats that we were making up stories about one another. I mean seriously deciding so & so dislikes me, & crushing hard on that person over there. I was pretty funny. After years of practice though; I've found that when you can drop agendas as you say, relax discursive thinking & be in the body, that profound intimacy can happen with people even without words. It's really helped me in my relationships in general:)

I find that the book "The Soul Mate Illusion" shows us the deep psychology of how what often seems to be great romantic love turns out to be a bubble that bursts . . . an illusion. It suggests that early patterns of the bondings of infants recreate themselves in adult romance. Thus there is a simplistic projection of a perfect bond (or a deep need for one) with the partner that makes for a misperception of seeing the real, full, complex adult person with whom we are trying to be intimate. If we understand this patterning, we will be able to cope better, and learn much, when the illusions of love reveal themselves.

I suffered from this soul mate conception.

Thank you for this video. I definitely learned a different and deeper perspective on the topic. I've been down a rabbit hole with your videos today I would like to hear your perspective on what practical steps one can practice to see past your projections and expectations in order to see people and reality as it really is? I've been struggling with this and find myself suppressing the idea of 'expectations' as my shadow image (also thank you for that video too).

I feel like an incapacity for true intimacy or the total conflation of it with physical attraction is the root cause of dark triad personality traits because it leaves an enormous area of the psyche undeveloped and instead that area is compensated by manipulation and using others for practical needs and self-glorification.

    1. Don't pursue
    2. Don't Ignore
    3. Be truthful
    4. Friends first

Thank you for this. The election, covid-19 stress, school, and a hard time at work have really gotten me down. Although my boyfriend is being endlessly supportive and loving, I've been feeling like I'm putting up a wall. It's so scary and disconnecting. This helped to remind me how I can reconnect when we can next be together. Again, thank you.
