You're welcome! Although i can hear some differences, but agreed - all three are great sounding versions of an Arp 2600.
Korg is rich sounding, love the tone of this beast.
Considering that the 2600 Gray Meanie is less than one-third of the price of the two others, I'd say Behringer did a splendid job. I love all the little extras that they put in, too.
Fully agreed! But to be fair, the Antonus is handbuilt by one person in Spain so it's just understandable that it's a bit more expensive.
Actually, it's not Behringer do a great job, it's other companies do a bad job, overpricing synthesizers that in reality are not that expensive to produce.
It's also Behringer job of collaborating with Rob Keely who wanted to make affordable 2600
@@zi1828That’s just not true. Behringer has big factory’s and underpaid workers in China. Not every company is capable or willing to compromise themselves ethically. And yet … Behringer still manage to make mostly cheap toy synths, or beginner versions of real synths.
@@79Glitch Toy synths? You're thinking of Korg or TE. Behringer make full sized desktop synths that are functionally identical to boutique varieties , same metal enclosures , solid construction and sound. The brand gets a lot of deserved flack for ripping off and undercutting premium brands like Moog, but their products are definitely not half-baked or toys. They'd perform just as well in a studio setting as any other synth .. Rack mountable, full sized controls, and quality sound.
You are doing the Lord’s work with these comparisons. I think I’ll just pickup the 2600m by Korg

That was interesting. Thanks for posting! IMO, the 2600M sounds the best. I mean they’re all close but to me the 2600M stands out. I like the sonic behavior better. When you were playing just osc’s the 2600M had more depth to it.
Of course, I’ll just stick with the Behringer 2600 as it sounds good too and I can’t really justify spending the extra money since it’s just a hobby for me.
Thanks for the comment mate - I think each of them has it's own strengths. The 2600M often sits/cuts trough better in a busy mix and seems a bit more aggressive over all, for percussive stuff or for leads i like the Antonus better and the Behringer is great for a more hi-fi sound - clean and precise. But they all sound great and the Behringer is the most flexible one when it comes to sound design and versatilty.
Shows how subjective this stuff can be - I was about to post a comment saying I liked the Korg 2600M the least out of them. You couldn’t really lose with any of these though. This video is amazing!
@@paulmolive1821 Thanks for your nice comment! Yes indeed, everyone has other preferences. In the end they can sound very similar and all of them are great synths, just the experience is different.

I love the way the Antonus sounds when you overdrive the filter with multiple oscillators. I don't think my Behringer 2600 drives the filter as hot, will have to experiment.
Patch VCF out into the preamp and then into the VCA audio input normalled for Ring Mod. You now have two filter inputs into the VCA - one as normal and one super charged. Combine to taste.
The Behringer doesn't do this. The overdrive is coming from the mixer section before the filter. The Behringer is more tamed, but has some other tricks on the sleeve. I like both.

Thank you for the video👍I'm wandering I hear a fuzz sound coming out of Beringer audio. It's low. I hear the other 2 machines so clear. Can that be ur line. Never heard that before in a demo video. I'm researching these machines.
Hey, thanks this is interesting. I pushed the VCO levels in the VCF-mixer on all the machines to demonstrate the saturation into the filter, maybe this is what you`re refering to? Otherwise i din't notice any distortion which doesn't come from the synthesizers.
But tbh. i am not sure, maybe there was something wrong which i din't notice when recording ... I've mixed them through a mackie mixer. Of course i leveled them carefully but this is very dynamic material so you never know- can you point me to a certain playing time?

Thank you for this! I for some reason prefer the 2600M.... Well, it bears the ARP logo and I'm an ARP collector so.... even though it is but it isn't, it makes me happy!! And that's really what's it'a all about..... Brian Auger said Music is not a competition....... And basically said it's something to be enjoyed...... So to each his own... my ears are probably different than yours!! And I like a certain sound more than you and that's all ok!! And then there's budgetary things to keep in mind... I get that too!! So I say whatever version you buy I'm sure you're going to love it!!! It's a classic!!

In my opinion you wouldn’t miss out anything. Rather the opposite as it’s the most complete one in terms of features. It’s coming down to personal taste in the end, as the sound of all of those differs slightly, as this video hopefully shows.

I have a half mind to get 2 b arps and chain them together, not sure how sensible it is.
I have seen you mention the featureset of B as a pro. can I ask you what features are missing in others?
@@thelemetric the others don’t have sync on the oscillators and less outputs for the single waveforms. The Behringer has the built in features of the 3620 keyboard like and extra LFO for vibrato and so on.
The Antonus also has an LFO as feature but it is more hidden. Of course the Behringer is missing the speakers. In case one needs it.

Korg ARP 2600 M is my favorite. I just wish it wasn't 2K in price. Bring it down $500 - $600 and I'd buy it. The Behringer 2600 is the best value for the price at $500. It sounds close to the Korg but not as aggressive. I didn't care much for the other one.
Hope you just picked one up for $1150.
If this video demonstrates anything, a person can't have too many ARP 2600s.
Did you notice that the Korg 2600FS is coming back to the stores? Well ... 😀
The biggest difference I hear is the spring reverbs. That's to be expected really. But the 2600M sounds best of these three to my ears. It sounds more transparent than the others. I really don't like the one on the Behringer (I don't like the digital one on the regular Behringer 2600 either). It's way too dark and muddy. The Antonus 2600's isn't bad but it seems to have a resonant ringing tone that dominates the sound (at least in this demo).

What I regret the most on my Grey Meanie is the x0.5, x1 and x2 envelope implementation… in the end it makes a short snappy attack and long decay impossible and eventually feels much less snappy than my Korg… But in any case those are lovely and very inspiring machines 🙂
Same here, the envelopes are the weakest point for the Behringer. Also that i makes a little double trigger or better, it has a little gap between the trigger and gate signal, so most of the time i am just bridging the gate out to the S/H gate in with a cable, to make it play tightly. But apart from that the Behringers are awesome.
Great points! I typically set up the 2600 as the bassline or a rapid arpeggio machine so I need to try the 2600s with some external envelope modules since I don't run into a long decay need as much and now I'm curious. I'll need to test it again to confirm but I want to say the env can "click" on every setting so it never felt like a problem to me when setting up a patch. I find myself using the S/H input on the BARP all the time simply to have a handy mute switch at the ready! When not using MIDI input of course. Love the revival of this fantastic synth in all forms, I've never had a more punishing kick drum!! It's truly monstrous and beautiful and so fun to tweak. We're spoiled in any case, no matter your favorite. A great time to love synthesis.

Has anyone tried patching a Klon type guitar pedal at various points on an ARP2600? I’m sure it’s been done. Clean gain boost, or even a germanium pedal??
A standard 9v pedal would struggle to add gain to a modular signal, since modular is already operating at a vastly higher voltage swing than an instrument level signal.

which one did you keep ? Which filter does the Korg and Antonus have ? (behringer has both) ................................ All three very nice . The Antonus is the most authentic vintage sounding because it is built like the original one , hand made with through hole component , while the other tow are robot made with cheaper smd surface mount. Different construction elements = different sound. The Antonus has faster envelopes which is what is exciting in the original one ! and it has fuller sound, the resonance is part of the sound like the original one. The others two have the typical sound characteristics of surface mount , the resonance is like a second sound , it sits on top instead of being part of, and the sound is dryer the overdrive crunchier and raspy , and have the typical overly stable sound, making it less alive. Smd is not bad, just different , it's great on some modern synths but on clones of Arp or Minimoog for instance , if you are after the authentic vintage sound (and can afford it) then go with the through hole component ones. Second best for me is the Korg
I kept all of them :-) The Antonus has the 4012 Filter.

the Behringer is hotter a bid more aggressive the korg prettier at the cost of three behringer!
Antonus just sounds better. Behringer is a bit too "tame" sounding to my ears. Korg is close second.
To me is clear- Spring reverb on Behringer 2600 is not usable in the mix. It has no transparency at all.
I have to say, I don't like the jack sockets on the 2600M.

It’s not night and day. But it’s fair to say that UA-cam compression is taking away some details.
@@tomnoise23 of course, so I don't understand how the viewers here can hear the difference... as the compression kills any difference.
