Something not mentioned in this video, Inside the Health app, you can found the precise measurements of your diving session which will give you the real depth value that passed 40 meters.
Excellent to know!
Why in health app when you need it below the water. The most important data is at depth, and limiting it is beyond ridiculous. Outright dangerous!
@@SvetoslavBonev It stops at 40m exactly for safety reasons, cause that's the standard limit for recreational diving. People are dumb and will 100% put themselves at risk to see the number go up, and Apple doesn't want to have to deal with that. Same reason why Snapchat limited and then removed the speed filter.
Best solution would be to leave normal version stuck on 'below 40m' but in Oceanic app it should show real depth
@@luca_sbll thank you for letting us know that you don’t have a clue about diving! It is important to see the depth at any time! If there is an emergency and you have to go deeper than „allowed“, or for what ever other reason, I have to know exactly how deep I am. That’s the reason why I will stay with a professional dive computer and not a fun watch that keeps informations from me.
You are the first one who mentioned the subscription fee 👍 I am fine with that, but I don't like that everybody advertises the watch as a dive computer without mentioning the subscription fee.
@@krisvanaut apple health is a free app
@@CHANEDde oeps sorry, you are right. I mixed up apple health vs apple fitness
I can’t be fine with it because Garmin doesn’t charge a fee and does the same think.
Go and spread the word about our good guy Mrkeybrd ;)
Apple stated in their presentation that after some time, the Oceanic app would charge. This is something that’s been mentioned everywhere.
Finally, a review i’m looking for. Thank you. I’m a diver from Maldives
Glad I could help!
hopefully you won’t buy it for diving …
@@pruteanu6 yeah. thought smart watch will be more useful when it has capability of dive computer. but looks like its NOT ready yet
Dude im from Maldives too 🤣🤣
It's actually good to see this can show the depth and times very clearly. I'm a diver and do plan to try this out. I don't necessarily need the dive computer because it is easy enough to calculate safety stops and surface intervals with the old fashion dive tables. I'm thinking with the app, it will be awesome for recreational diving. Thanks for sharing.
what a nice guy. thanks for the informative short video. I don't have this watch , nor will have it ever, but it was interesting to watch.
thx for the video and nice song in the end 😊
The outtro though lovin it
Nice demo!
Oh maaaan. Sad but true. Thank you so much- you help me a lot! I am a hobby diver, and 5$ for a day would be okay, but i am not sure if i want to hang on this app when garmin has some good alternatives…
I am really struggeling
Thank you for this very valuable information.
Thanks for the video !
Thx for this great Video.
I like how they had it sitting next to a very basic old dive computer to compare it to. And not a more recent compact color bright dive computer.
I dive with a Suunto Zoop, it can do more than you think.
Nice, interesting video! Just subscribed, keep it up!
I’m a diver and was super excited about this. It doesn’t have air integration which is a bummer most most computers don’t. The real kick in the balls and flat out “lying by omission” is the subscription model. That is aids!
Air integration sounds like will be possible through an app no?
If the tank has Bluetooth or WiFi capability, it’s very possible another developer could incorporate air integration. Apple just finally made a device capable of that depth, the vast majority of app capabilities come from outside developers.
Sigh. Yes, Apple stated that. No, there’s no lying by omission.
@@davidgates5699 not really, radio waves don’t travel through water very well. Some airpods (not headphones) use sonar, others do brute force it with a wifi like connection. Sadly it would require 1) an actual pod that doesn’t exist, 2) hardware on the watch.
Lol it's on its first iteration. Give it time.
Does it help decide what your ideal gas mixture should be ?
Wow i know this isn’t really apart of your video but i love your outro song damn its so nice
Well at least it has the capability. As much as I am waiting for the 60 hour battery life update, I hope the dive app will not disappoint. Btw, nice outro song. What song is it? Thanks!
To be frank, if they advertise it as a diving computer, I'd expect this Oceanic + app to be preinstalled and entirely free (especially with the watch's price). But, well, it's apple so they will probably go away with it :)
You can buy for 160$ a fully operational with different gases dive computer. The fee it is just a scam.
BTW the 160$ dive computer with just a single battery lets you use it for hundreds of dives, and you can change it anywhere in 1 minute without the need of waiting to charge. I don't see why anyone would choose the cheapest dive computer on the market over this.
@@Daniel-nt5gh because this is a lot more than a dive computer it's a complete computer on your wrist
@@CollinPope My point is that no it is by no means half as good for diving as the cheapest product on the market, so for a diver it is not a dive computer.
It is a nice tech product? Of course, it is a dive computer worth it? Not at all.
Not surprised, Garmin does something similar with their Instinct solar 2x Tactical edition watch... the applied ballistics software requires additional purchase to "activate" the feature... $300 extra to unlock the enhanced edition.
Great! Thx!
Hi. Does this watch have a function to start counting the rest time after a dive? If I want to dive while holding my breath.
For those willing to use Navy dive tables, it is certainly an adequate dive watch, even if not a dive computer.
will you make garmin review?
Great video
not air intergrated, subscription? I have an Apple watch, but prefer my Garmin Descent 2 II for diving, also use Oceanic proplus.
Good Video.
Hi, i've been trying to search everywhere and couldn't find any video that shows if it is safe to press the crown, side and action button all the way to 40m. Is it because that it is a common knowledge you can't press (but only scroll) those buttons under water?
Thank you in advance.
Does it show your deco times ?
Very importat video ;)
tak myślałem, że kojarzę twarz a to kuba klawiter! :)
A big failure on smart watches being water resistant is when the buttons are compressed/used. I wish I could find someone trying to fully operate the watch while at that depth.
The new garmin descent mk3 that just got out has protection against that actually. But it's s steep price as well
If I understood correctly, the apple watch ultra isn't bad if you use it as a back up dive computer, like a gauge but sadly not a full dive computer jet.
Nie wiedziałem że masz inny kanał po angielsku?! nice!
Hi Kuba, at 0:50 you have said that 10 bucks is for week when the image shows it is 10 $ per month.
Englisz is not his first language, you must forgive him😉🤪Pozdrowy
Is this available in series 8?
I think this situation is good for an occasional vacation diver not for a dedicated diver. I’m looking to replace my old Aris Atmos and rather than buy a piece of gear that I’m only using a couple times a year. You can pay $10 for a month while on vacation and you have a piece of equipment you can use year round. I don’t mind paying a small amount for a subscription because it means that they’re constantly going to improve the app.
Ok good to know that as i was not aware how it was handling the deco calculations. I was wondering but did not know how it was. Now it is crystal clear, thanks for this video. One more thing that I am eager to find out, a good dive computer is supposed to support mixture gas such trimix, nitrox etc. So will Apple or that 3rd party app be bringing that feature to this watch?
dobra robota klawiatur
The thriving part of Apple Watch is its ecosystem and amazing developers. I am hoping there will be more competition app against oceanic
Where is the water temperature measure?
Can it be used as freediving ?
if the Apple Watch ultra does not calculate any saturation, which I need for several dives, and also does not display any decompression times, or deco dives is not accompanied or allowed, it is not relevant for me as a dive computer. every dive computer can do that today (also beyond 40m), and you should be able to do that by then. whether the upcoming app oceanic supports this is not yet known. In any case, the term dive computer is definitely not justified at the moment
I knew it wasn't a dive computer when we bought it. We knew the app would come later. Before computers, we dove on tables. Are the tables taught anymore? You don't need a dive computer, but it sure is a great thing to have.
I honestly can’t believe there is a subscription for the app, I was so excited to use this. The price of this watch should fully cover the dive functions. Why advertise as a dive watch and not mention a subscription in the trailer? The dive community should all get together and not buy this! Typical apple
or write a free app :)
Where is this pool ? 45m! Amazing
It's Deepspot, next to Warsaw in Poland.
nice video
마지막에 한국어 배경음악이 나와서 놀랐네요 😂
All diving computers for spearfishing and freediving as have three main functions
which this type of divers is using
dive time
surf time
and deep
on Apple Watch ultra is two apps for diving
Depth
and Oceanic+
both don't have surf function.
is it difficult to do like all normal diving computers or because it's apple its not possible ?
I guess Apple did mention that this watch is for Recreational Diving which has 40 meters/130 feet as depth limit in PADI manuals. Everything beyond that is Technical Diving.
So its a pretty limited bottom timer then unless you pay an for a subscription when it becomes pretty limited dive computer?
Are you from poland?
Cieakwe :) Nie wiedzalem ze masz angielski kanal
Whats wrong with mk2?
Wait for the Oceanic app?
..great
The computer that is shown in the video that the dive instructor is using is called the suunto zoop. It is not bright at all and uses a dot matrix screen. I owned this computer 10 years ago and upgraded many times since then. The zoop is a great entry level non air integrated dive computer but comparing the screens would be comparing an OLED TV to a screen on a calculator. It’s definitely going to be interesting when the app launches, but there are competing dedicated and non-dedicated dive computers on the market that rival the Apple Watch ultra.
Don't forget to mention that it costs only ~200euros/usd.
And needs no subscription fee...
Does the suunto double as a smart watch? Does it measure heart rate, oxygen in ur blood? ECG? Does it have dual band gps? Is it made out of titanium? Does it get regular software updates? Can u download apps for different uses? Can u use it as a payment method like apple pay? Does it measure water temp? Does it track ovulation cycles? Does any diving computer have all of these capabilities? No. Apple watch ultra is a smart watch that has all these capabilities and more, in addition to its ability to do basic diving computer functions, and i know, some Garmen watches can do all that but will cost way more. So!
@@thefilmfactory4880 yes, but Apple watch is not a dive computer and doesn't have it's features 😃
@@thefilmfactory4880 That was what I was getting at. Having the Apple Watch next to the Zoop and commenting on the screens was kind of an unfair comparison. The Zoop came out in early 2000, then they relaunched with the word novo attached to it, but essentially it was the same computer. The apple was launched this year so having a 20 year old piece of dive tech next to a smart watch with a 2000 nit screen should look better. The Garmin watches that offer diving functions are on par with the Apple Watch price wise. When air integration is factored in then the price is increased. The Apple Watch is not and will not be air integrated. $800 for a smart watch that does basic recreational diving with no possibility of air integration is not absurd, but there is other options out there.
The computer is of course handy but for someone who’s been diving many hundreds of hours without computers, you used to calculate your dives yourself and wear a watch, this watch is all you need. Fantastic product.
Do you think getting a Shearwater perdix 2 is overkill for a recreational diver?
@@rafael6693 If you plan on doing tech at some point, no. If not, it’s way overkill. The Peregrine is probably a better bet if you don’t plan on doing the deco and mixed gas courses.
I think apple was pretty clear about the dive computer app not being available until later this year/early next year
Yup, but they NEVER mentioned a sucscription model ! Just fineprint at the bottom of a long webpage.
Typical Apple.
The last song?
First of all this watch will see water for how many percent of user ?
1% or 2% (I mean diving not just soaking feet in the lake).
On the other hand if subscription ran out while diving ?
Will be there error message "Sorry you are on your own now" or there will be option to pay via NFC using card ?
Apple doing apple things. Like I would have known before.. :D
What a smooth Korean ending song. unexpected!
Your comment on the brightness, while compared to the other computer (which looked like a Suunto Zoop) seems a bit misleading. The Zoop doesnt backlight by default. You're looking at a fully lit OLED screen on the Apple, compared to a non-backlit Suunto Zoop (think 20+yr old LCD dot matrix watch). The Zoop is the absolute bottom of the range dive watch and the screen types are nothing remotely similar. ... I do, however, fully agree that the Ultra should report depth when beyond 40m!
I mean, the Garmin is more expensive, but it's just so much better, and really, diving computers with similar functionality are also similarly expensive.
Id I had purchased an Ultra based on Apple’s diver ads, I would be pissed! I imagine there will be modules that mount on air tanks to transmit pressure data to Apple Watches coming out in the near future.
Deco is very important,
it has the functionality but it's not specialized for diving, I wouldn't dive with a buddy if both of us using it, I have it and I always chose the Garmin descent upon it!
The legendary pool
Better use this on land. Use a Garmin Descent MK2i with the wireless air integration option
Or get a Suunto Eon Steel with a big screen you can see at a glance under water and buttons designed to be used with with thick diving gloves. You won't be wearing it as watch anytime soon, but it makes a lot more sense when you're diving. EDIT: It's also a lot more affordable than the garmin, can pick one up with a tank pod for less than the Garmin Descent MK2 without the air integration.
@@shuflie yup I have both Suunto Eon Steel and Garmin Descent MK2i, works well for recreational diving. Also I do use Ratio and Shearwater for tech dives
this is kinda cool.
Apple Watch Ultra with ultra subscription ;)
last video I love to dive very explanatory
Don’t forget that the Oceanic+ app will come later this year
how do u know thihs ending song? wow
what song at the end?
Has anyone tested this in caves, caverns, or shipwrecks yet? Curious how it fares after a bit of pulling and gliding across limestone lol
Hope someone make a third party app with a one off subscription or free with all the baisic features in a modern dive computer i.e. depth, max depth, bottom time, NDL, safety stop, deco mode, PO2, gas switching, water temperature, compass
So you're paying $800USD for a dive computer that requires a monthy subscription. A Shearwater Perdix costs about the same, doesn't need a subscription, and is an infinitely more capable dive computer. BTW the computer shown is a Suunto Zoop, one of the cheapest pov pack dive computers on the market. There are plenty of dive computers with LED and AMOLED screens that are as bright as the Ultra.
Lol. Would you also use your Perdix for daily use including fitness, hiking, golf etc? Didn't think so...
@@BilldalSWE No, but I use it to go diving! Something Apple Watch Ultra can't currently do, and will never do well.
You're paying for a toy for rich boys who want to show off they are not going to grow up, it's the whole point of apple products. It's useless as well for ultra and triathlon, which they were also advertising, but that's another story.
@@ukaszlech5452 toy for rich ?
You get like 10 gadgets in one and this in premium quality the ultra is worth the money fk the hustle or something else if you need the functions then its worth 100%
@@BilldalSWE the Garmin MK2 will do all of that plus GPS and you don't need to pay a subscription lol
Actually the watch records the depth below 40m. You can see it in the health app if u go to "Show all data" but it is not displaying it on the watch itself. I guess it's more of a liability issue and apple doesn't want to encourage people to go deeper than the typical hobbiest level
A diving computer is basically a calculator for gases dissolved in your blood. Without accurately showing this information to the user, will it be able to show the truly important information dive computers are for? Namely planning your next dive, how deep and how long you could go, how long before you can fly, etc? "Liability" and "encouragement" doesn't come into it. It's a calculator that can't show its working after the number 40.
Ten film jest very git. Szanuję, że Ci się chciało i że to zrobiłeś (chyba jako jedne z pierwszych na świecie) Wyślę film do znajomych z poza PL żeby wspomóc to aby rzeczywiście zaczął żyć w świecie anglojęzycznym. Pozdro very much.
so its just 5 meter more than the limit that is ur test here ? wow
waiting for the app
when next video?
“As it should” the watch is rated to 40m, and unless you’re a tech diver you’re not exceeding 30m. The vast majority of rec divers can go on vacation, pay for a month, use their watch, and cancel when they get back.
Comment for the algorithm :)
As interesting as this video is - but the thought of being in a 45 m deep pool is so unnerving to me as a non-diver :D
Czemu dopiero teraz ten kanał znalazłem
mk2i is amazing!!!!!
my Ultra arrives wednesday oct 12 \o/
You are talking about Apple. Having to pay extra is NEVER a surprise.
Are there some deep and diving time alarms, and surface timer or next things for freediving?
1:24 that's basically a pre-order and they will make that version if they see enough interest on it. A standard market bs
I went down once... but what about real use
No. It goes mad after 40 m, and also on the second dive after breaking 40 it does not operate but it requires long no fly time. Happened to me several times, and every time for the second i had to use another computer.
It sucks that only works on meter, i use feet to calculate
I think it's not worth it's price at this moment
ualala i see a very iportant wido i dont have a apple watch but i see
