Finally finished your simple 45 amp.
It's only been about two weeks but I'd say it's the most musical amp I've ever built.
I went with a choke input supply, as I prefer them and all oil caps in the ps, otherwise the circuit is as original.
I tried a ccs on the 6sl7 plate but went back to the resistor load as the music just flowed better. Used a cc resistor on the plate and I do prefer it there, thx for that!
Anyway just wanted to thank you for sharing it's much appreciated.
May try your phono circuit next when time permits.

Agreed 100%! I've tried several topologies for the type 45 triode, SRPP, plate choke loaded med-mu/med-gm triode, etc. and went back to my simple high-mu/low-gm cascade design from the mid-90s.
I did CCS with high gm tubes during my P-P days in the late 80s to early 90s, those solid state devices make them sound like a hybrid.
The Simple 45 circuit deserves the best OPT you can afford. I'm using Tamura F475s which are no longer available but an equivalent Hashimoto H507S will do just as well or better yet the H20-7U.
