This tutorial is an easy beginner macrame plant hanger that you can make in 10 minutes! For this video I used 5mm 3 ply rope from Ganxxet, but you can make it with any rope, string, jute twine, even t-shirt yarn works great! I did the exact same thing back in 70's as well and now I've picked it up again and showing my 2 granddaughters how to macrame

I sold a cat hammock/bed for $250. Bought by a yachtsman for his wife’s cat. He said she had everything. If it was $25, he wouldn’t even have seen it. If you’re going to sell competitively then you have to plan according to the type of clientele a business has. If you want to sell less for more, or more for less then you buy cord accordingly. Organic, natural, undyed cotton is my favorite to work with but expensive.

I can now make this in my sleep because I’ve watched this video a gazillion times. Your voice is soothing, your pace perfect, and it’s a pleasure to watch. I just made a 4’ one, thanks for teaching me. On the long, simple ones, 5mm cord looks so beautiful, chunky, the knots very visible, I love that look.

I first discovered macrame in Girl Scouts when I was a little girl and am now rediscovering this creative outlet. I am an avid houseplant collector and would like to make plant hangers for house and to give as gifts. I wish you showed a shot at the bottom when setting up the ropes. This is my first macrame project and I'm really excited by how it's coming out so far!

I agree. Seeing the ends is a must. I appreciate the tutorials but really would like to see the entire project. It would've saved me the errors I made and the wasted cordage. Hope to see that in other / future videos.

Really good plant hanger - I like the design very much. Very pretty, simple, easy and quick to make, very adjustable to the pot and most importantly: it doesn´t obstruct the growth of the plant in any way. I will make definitely more of these :-)

@@joannak9193 im so sorry I don't think I measured it, I may have but I believe this is about 26-27 inches in length!

Great tutorial :) I'm total newbie with macrame so the only thing I would prefer is to be able to see the whole thing as you make it as for a beginner it would even be better :) thanks xx

Hi there, thanks for sharing your skills, this video is super easy to follow. I have a quick question: if I wanted to make smaller versions for on the wall would it just be a case of halving the amount of rope needed? And adjusting the scale/ amount of knots for the spiral and such, right?
First off, thank you! As for the rope length, yes, it’s simply just shortening the length but I definitely don’t recommend in half , it will be very short, unless that’s what you want. In that case, I would definitely use a thinner rope!

This worked well for me! But I had trouble with the longer pieces of rope in the beginning. I don't know if I missed something, but here's what happened: I cut two 11 feet pieces as the video says and looped them over the ring with the rest. I grabbed the two back halves of the long pieces, which were on the far left and far right sides. Then I used them to create the left square knots, which twisted around and looked great. But when those 2 pieces pieces were the same length as the 8 shorter pieces, there were still two ends of 11 ft. rope that were their original long length. I couldn't figure out what to do with those, so I ended up switching to those ropes to continue the left twisting square knot and that worked ok. Anyways, thanks for a great video! I think I found a new hobby :)
I totally get what you are saying. So what did is fine! But here is what I did, the 2 longer ropes, I took the 2 I was working with , putter ones, and I liked them until their ends that I was not working with were the same length as the middle ropes. Then, my worker ropes are that much longer to work with !

@@soulfulnotions2648 Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you need to pull the 11" ropes so that the front are matched with the 8" ones. Then you do the twist until all the pieces match.
I have the same problem as well. I cut the 2 long ropes as directed but instructions only are to use one on the long ropes. I am unclear what to do with the second long piece?
@@SprinkleTwinkle007 please tell me if you figured it out. My knots came out beautifully, but I am left with two short short ropes (the work ropes) and the other 11" which I didn't use. I am so disappointed :(

Yes you sure can! You can make a round gathering knot at the top instead. I also have another tutorial for a planthanger that hangs on the wall that doesn’t use a ring:)
