    You need to wear a helmet, I know of someone who had a serious head injury at quite low speeds doing this.

    Thanks for posting this - windskate deserves more attention. Been riding for 20 years on and off, mainly when it is too cold to windsurf. I always wear a helmet and wrist guards. I only wish there were more good places to sail. Lately I am using an inflatable sail - not as fast, but super easy.

    My buddy Mike and I built a home-made windskate back in the late 80's - a real challenge considering where gear technology was back then...it was super dangerous and hard to control (especially in 10-15 knots of wind), but a ton of fun. After a lot of bandages and road rash, we eventually figured out that we should wear knee & elbow pads - unfortunately wearing a helmet didn't occur to us!

    Very interesting. Have been Wind Skating almost 20 years, mostly sand and dirt after cracking a helmet on pavement. I wear hockey pads when on pavement. My converted mountain board has 10 inch wheels and allows for adjusting stiffness of trucks for front and back which is a big help transitioning from tricks to speed. With 4 wheels, wheel wobble is a problem at higher speeds. In USA, Hilton Head is a great spot. Please put up more videos on this. Thanks

    I went windskating regularly with my friends in South Wales over 30 years ago. If there isn't much wind then it's a great way to practice manoeuvres and you still get a bit of the windsurfing buzz! Now I live in Saarland in Germany where there is never much wind so I am looking for a good site to start windskating again.

    Love this. Wish I could jump my newly built windskater that good. I was able to do a little hop while riding it on the sand. Going to try it today if the weather allows for it. It's a mental thing.
    mine is a 1m longboard dancer with mountainboard trucks and wheels. I added straps from my old tabou board. Stripped the padding off them as it had decayed. It works like a charm. Just need to get used to it and get more time riding it.
    My fastest measured speed was 45kmh. That was the first time I did this years ago. Funny thing is 45kmh isn't that fast but scary as hell when you are doing it on a 1.50m wide bikelane with barbed wire on the side. One mistake and everything could have been ripped apart. But it was a lot of fun going this fast with a buddy who was landkiting on the other side of the barbed wire.
    I am able to go much faster now. But I never measure my speed.
    Cool to see this it inspires me to continue during the colder days.

    Honestly, if I could I'd windskate more than windsurf. On a good quality tarmac with a longboard it needs a tiny breeze for fun with gybes, tacks, 360s etc. I used mountain board as a session saver when going to beaches and expected it won't be good enough for windsurfing. Sometimes staying dry on a wide and long beach like West Sands in St Andrews, Scotland is so much better. Had a few beautiful cruising days on sand with windskating

    Aber warum ein Landboard oder ein Longboard nehmen? Ein normales Skateboard mit Nose und Tail ist sehr viel mehr variabler. Der Mastfuss sitzt dann genau auf der Vorderachse, dadurch kann man sowohl Tail- und Nosemanuals machen, sowie Spins dabei. Auch lassen sich superschöne lang gezogene Slides mit den harten Rollen machen, die Slides kann man dann mit Up- und Downwind-Rotationen kombinieren, allerdings sollte man Rolle grösser 54mm nehmen. Das Board sollte ein längeres und breiteres sein, eher wie ein Poolboard, kein Streetstyle. Hat das Anton schon mal probiert?

    • @antonm7138
      @antonm7138 3 роки тому

      Ja mein allererster Windskateversuch vor 100 Jahren war tatsächlich mit einem normalen (kleinen Streetstyle) Skateboard und Fußschlaufen. Nach 5 min war die Session mit Platzwunde beendet 😅
      Macht für meine Zwecke schon alles Sinn so, wie ich das mache. Aber prinzipiell geht alles mit Rollen. Kann halt recht wackelig werden, wenn der Achsabstand zu kurz ist.. und schnell unkontrollierbar. Eine Mischung aus Mountainboard und Longboard (Rollen) sollte für meine Zwecke auf Asphalt perfekt sein. Hab so einen Eigenbau auch in Betrieb und das Ding ist extrem schnell und spaßig. Falls es dich interessiert, wie es aussieht: instagram.com/antonmunz/ . Aber prinzipiell bin ich immer offen für Neues und sehr gespannt, was aus so manchen Tüfteleien entsteht. Momentan bin ich auf der Suche nach dem schnellsten Windskateboard, das ziemlich wahrscheinlich mit (großen) Longboardrollen ausgestattet sein wird.
