  • Boating and boat life is about freedom and getting away from the constraints of city life. However when we take our floating home into a city, things take a turn for the worse. This week in our canal boat life series, we're passing through the centre of Toulouse, which marks the junction between the Canal du Midi and the Canal de Garonne on the French Canals. However, life on a boat does not always go to plan, and we end up coming across a major issue!
Enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe and leave a comment!
    Cheers,
    Nick & Terysa

Great video you two! Terysa has come through where a passerelle would not even have helped. What an athlete she is climbing on and off the boat many times. The lock system is amazing to see. I traveled all through Italy, and France in the 1970’s on land not even knowing about the lock system. Thanks for bringing it all to light.

@@sailingrubyrose I've been watching Cruising the Cut with David Johns & The Narrowboat Experience w/ Annamarie & Kath on youtube, both English canal boat vlogs, so since seeing you both go thru the French canals I've wanted to see all those sites, too. I'm too greedy! LOL Hope you had fun here in the states on your short jaunt. Peace. Q

Simply beautiful scenery. Is it essential that you speak French to travel the canals ??

Not at all! But it always helps if you can speak the local language, even just a few words goes a long way 😊

Hey guys, I saw a reply from you on a video with a fake/funny AF news update about the SLV and GT trip thing. Typical aussie piss take humor on it, really enjoyed it. I cant find the Channel again now or the video so I'm afraid its been taken down. Is there any chance you know what it was, the channel?? Hard to find good Aussie humor online and when its mixed in with sailing stuff its golden, no idea why I didn't sub on the spot. Hoping you can direct me in the right direction.
On another note, I love the French canals series however it was something my father was planning to do with my mum and various extended family members in retirement before he passed away so its mixed feelings being pretty awesome seeing it as well as sad that he isn't around to do it now or just to see it through your videos. So thankyou, you have convinced me that I will have to go get it done for him now.

Hey mate, it was on Sailing Nandjis UA-cam channel. They took the video down as they were getting a lot of grief over Mentioning SLV. Don’t blame them at all. Either way, the video is gone

@@sailingrubyrose Yea, people will be people, it's sad people having a go at each other over trivial stuff, IE: SLV making content and the people making content off their content, its at both ends when you think about it. End of the day, you gotta recognize as they pointed out that SLV is more a business nowadays, I dont think they were unfair I think they stayed fairly neutral so no need to have a go at them for it, it was entertaining.....
Nothing against SLV, someone lines up a deal where you are the walking advertisement for a company offering you a 1 mill US boat and all you gotta do is make repayments and keep making videos and any/everyone would take that deal. It's pretty straight forward works both ways for the SLV crew, they get a shinny catamaran that enables them to grow their "brand" and make lots of money while flogging that brand and continuing their adventure. That brand gets a walking advertisement that pops up near the top when people search youtube and glorifies the lifestyle, getting them more sales lol.
People that knock them for what they have done gotta think, what would I do, answer is sign on the dotted line and roll with the punches lol. Same time though, SL fancrew gotta recognize that they are no longer what they were when they first set out. They are earning over 10k USD a week from patreon for making a 12-15 minute video per week and to do that they need to stay close to their demographic between the US and the EU where people have disposable cash to throw at the dream they are portraying. That is without youtube add revenue. If it wasn't for that keeping them tied up to a location and a format that brings in that income for them then with a 6 month old kid its hard as all fk to get back to what they were originally, a kid ties them up even more to locations with access to healthcare etc.
Either way, SLV is no longer what they started out as. People gotta recognise that and not flame others when they highlight that while making their own content, especially content that has a surf report and invites you to have a frothy. All class when your closer is telling people to have a drink.

Ruby Rose plays Batwoman these days on US tv. She`s Australian I think. I clicked because I thought that maybe this channel was hers. LOL.

@@sailingrubyrose Oh, dont get me wrong, i`m not sorry I did, because I subscribe to many sailing channels anyway. I`m an ex US Marine and I had to spend a lot of time on US Navy war ships and carriers, so I do have my "sea legs" now, although it did take a while.( translate that to mean a lot of vomiting in the head). I love your sailing style and format and the stress of navigating those narrow channels. I live in Southern California , on the coast, but I have not taken advantage of that and gotten a boat yet. Look me up folks if you`re ever in CA. and i`ll buy you a pint.

Why can't Nick do the locks and struggle to get back aboard or do what the mountaineers climbing Everest do when crossing those crevasse's Use a ladder :-), they should have designed the banks to accommodate sailing yachts 300 years ago.
