Picked these up last Black Friday - they're normally $450 here in the States, but they were discounted to $300. Having now listened to them for four months - frankly, they would have been a bargain without the discount; I almost feel guilty about the price I paid. They're far better than I expected sound-wise, and the wealth of connection options is fantastic. I'm primarily listening to them hooked up to a venerable Squeezebox network system, but I've also used Bluetooth and AirPlay; Bluetooth does introduce a slight bit of delay that's absent from a WiFi connection, and I *think* the sound's slightly worse because of the Bluetooth compression, but that may just be my brain playing tricks on me.
I mainly listen to jazz and classical, and I'm a cellist so I have a good idea what a lot of the music I listen to is supposed to sound like live; much of it is pieces I've played myself, or heard in performance. The S1000Ws are remarkably accurate for their size, and that's exactly what I want from a speaker - just get as close to the recording as possible, with no additional coloration.
Oh lord... these cost 800 USD here in Brazil (4000 BRL). I was about to buy it... but... I'm gonna wait for a discount. :D
Hi, can you tell what codec is used on bluetooth connection? Edifier doesnt says anything about aptx/aptxhd and all review I see also dont mention this detail. Thank you.
I'm not sure how to get that information, and I mostly use a wired connection or WiFi (AirPlay). The manual says "To enjoy all Bluetooth functions of this product, please ensure your audio source device has A2DP and AVRCP profiles", if that helps.
@@EvanTreempire if you use android based on qualcomm from 2016 or more recent, connect vía bluetooth, then you can go to connection sentting (press gear) and see options you can enable/disable. There you can see something like "HD Audio: aptX" or "HD Audio: aptX HD".
A2DP is a basic profile provides only sbc codec (optimized for stability), same uses my actual R1280DB, and it doesn't work well.
Maybe they only left this basic codec in favor of wifi, but its a bit strange positioning of product.
Also im curious if the system can be used over wifi but using another apps, I don't like online services and have my own server and music library.
Edifier are superb. Bought a few of their products in the past and always been impressed with them ❤
Great review mat. I love the wood finish on these. Very cool 😮
Thanks!
Love those dials on the back, proper retro.
Great speakers love Edifier
Jusk Asking, which better between S1000W or S1000MKii if ignored new Feature connections ?
Amazing review mat. Must be hard to give these back 😂
Thanks mate, yeah I'll miss them for sure :)
anyone know of where I can buy stands for these? Evidently Edifier no longer has an accessory page with stands for these speakers???? Help!!
Great speakers. I don’t have these expensive ones but their sound quality has to be top tier for pc.
Is is possible to remove the feet? I want it to feet is some specific space and the height is 0.4cm to high.... The 4 feet are removable? If yes, it will fit perfect.
Like the design of these looks really nice.
The bass comes across really well on the HiFiMan Deva Pro 'phones I use with my PC. I generally choose ASUS mobos for the Supreme FX Audio. My turntable seems to have died and my monitors need supplementing with some with 21st century inputs. These look like they fit the bill so I'll be having a mooch for somewhere I can listen to what they sound like in the flesh; I KNOW it will be better but they sound good enough to go out of my way to listen to and buy a pair. That set-up you've got looks the business by the way.
PS: Those Edifier WH950NBs' mikes unprocessed sounded like you were in a 'bin! I'm still going to pick up a pair though and a couple as pressies for folk I know will appreciate them. 13 out of 10 for both reviews.
Can you connect these to a subwoofer?
i have a pair of edifier luna eclipse e25 speakers for my rig, cant fault them at all and they look cool too
The audio test via my setup sounded quite muddy. I’m only comparing with your lav mic. Did you run them flat or lowered from zero on bass and treble dials ?
Dials were at 0/12 o'clock for both bass and treble. The samples were recorded with a different mic (Elgato Wave DX) and UA-cam will have compressed/processed the audio so that may be a factor too.
I’d like to see the Kitguru staff review things they aren’t used to reviewing. Leo reviewing a keyboard etc etc. would be entertaining
I know those from the LearnLinuxTV UA-camr, he bought such a model to check the audio of his videos and he takes sound seriously, he uses a proper microphone. Definitely something that I could consider if I can buy those easily but only a wired model, not as good as my headphone (HiFiman XS) but sometimes you want to listen with loose speakers.
I’ve heard a few Edifier in our local store they sound really good. Priced quite well but prices seem to have gone up recently.
Hi there, I have a question. With the S1000W speakers, if you have your turntable hooked up to your speakers, do u experience a sound drop for about a split half a second about a minute or 2 into the record. The reason I ask is because I experience that. I will start ti play a record at the beginning of the side and about a minute or 2 into the song , the sound drops. Please let me know if this happens to you. Thank u.
Hi, have solve your problem? Im going to purchase this speakers also and connect directly to mg turntable but im affraid to have the same issue with you. If you have any advise, please let me know
Hello can your review the new S3000MKII? :)
the live sound test seemed quite flat and not very clear tbh. What did you have the dials at the back of the right speaker set at ?
both set to 0 so they shouldn't have affected the sound. It may be due to UA-cam compressing/processing the audio.
Hi KitGuruTech... (Sorry for the off topic question):
Where do you buy the monitor stand and the speakers stand? Than You.
The speakers are on shelves that are part of an Ikea desk and the monitor is mounted to the wall with a TV wall bracket.
@@KitGuruTech thank you very very very much !!! ....... Congrats for your computer station... Yes is very nice and i like it 👍
Is the amplifier really good at high levels or is their clipping and distortion ? The amps don’t look too powerful on paper.
I haven't noticed any clipping or distortion at any volume levels :)
It’s hard to tell through youtube but they seem to have a very warm sound.
Bit big for a PC. Not a fan of the wood to be honest. Sound is probably great though. I have a set of iLoud Micro monitors for my gaming rig. They're small and sound amazing. I wouldn't swap them for anything. However, I'm looking for a pair of speakers for my TV and think these might have a wider soundstage.
Where can you buy these
Good idea on the door wedges. The rubber will not interfere with the sound.
They are good for angling the drivers if they are set too high or too low in line with the ear.
Comfortably numb. One of the best songs ever.
Yeah agree 100%
Thats a pretty beefy moofer in there for bookshelf speakers.
Edifier❤❤❤👍
Wenn I saw the wood, I was likeNope! I want black it fits in every where.
Edifier make nice things.
For 400 quid for a set of decent speakers thats not bad.
they really are feature packed but I have to admit the sound recording test felt very flat to me. Compared to your voice anyway.
Think Id leave the grills off rather than on.
I put these on the floor under my computer desk and they still sound great. They're too large to put on top.
algotherm 😀
1000W?!?
Wouldn't like to be your neighbours... 🤣
Oh sorry. That's the model number. Only 120W.
That's virtually false advertising by Edifier...
The W indicates that these have wireless connectivity 👍🏻
@@matmynett7220 Of course it does. Like 1000 is just an arbitrary number...
1000watt for 400 quid I wish...😂.
It is a bit misleading though I agree 👍
Powered speakers are not the way to go. Go buy yourself a AIYIMA T9 PRO and a pair of Sony SSCS5's. Will blow these out of the water.
You need to hear these Edifier with a good sound card for a pc they are great
Powered speakers are ideal for a pc. Of course you can get better but for convience they are often a good option
@@buyingastairwaytoheaven5252 Best bet would be to purchase an external DAC. Schiit Modi would be a great option.
@@historianfabulousio5128 Not denying the convenience factor at all! I had a pair of Edifier powered speakers a few years back. Don't get me wrong, they sounded great. All I'm saying is if you go the passive speaker route, you can get just as good performance if not better for cheaper especially if you're willing to consider the used speaker market.
Buying amps etc for a pc output speaker setup is rather inconvenient though. If all you are doing is gaming and watching UA-cam. If you are doing music editing with pro apps then absolutely.
