The best clay bars that I recommend are fine grey varieties from Japan. Those are the best available also have the most industry patents attached to them. I regularly use them an will not touch anything else especially synthetic. There’s no doubt these are available under multiple brand names if you are looking. I believe these are made by the Chemical company in Japan are available as a generic no name label.
They are the same as Magna shine, same place in Japan makes them. They have purple, grey, and white and come in 100gram and 200gram. I like them too they are one of the best
I have two questions that I'd like to ask, how do you "clean" a clay bar that you've used, and how long can you use that piece of clay bar before you have to throw it away?
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing your expertise. I am a rookie and need to repair and detail my vehicle next month, so I am gathering as much information as possible. I need to remove scratches and scrapes from the side of my car from other people opening up their car doors and hitting my vehicle, so I am looking for as many detailing tips as possible. Now I have a better idea of what type of clay bars I should be looking for. Thanks again!
I bought clay bars for years. But earlier this year i decided to try optimums ultra clay towel. Already done 60+ cars with no degrading. I just use superclean 5:1 on the clay media surface in my sink and rub the contaminants out. Works great, drastically cuts back on time and improves efficiency. Definitely need to check it out Luke. Another killer product from optimum
You'll need the aggressive clay bars for over spray situations. The best one I've come across for that (and I hate to admit it) is the chemical guys black clay.
I personally felt like their grey bar did better than their black one. Thet are very small but i like their clay lube. I finid Black Fire, Maxshine, & magna shine to make the best claybars. If you haven't tried one of those brands i would recommend it because they work much better than the chemical guys
I’m a detailer nube. So I just stick with Mothers. It’s easy, not expensive, I don’t drop it, and I don’t have to overthink it. Maybe someday I will step up to 3M or something a pro would use. Thanks for the video!
You should not have to push harder on clay bars. Let the clay bar do the work. Heavy duty clay is more tacky for heavy contamination. Fine is for light contamination and is less tacky. You must really marr paint jobs with the way you apply pressure to the clay.
Not sure if this guy can really call himself a "professional" detailer seems to me to be a novice. He tries to cover up the fact of not knowing anything by using big words and talking in circles about a subject.
Well, just understand that there is a difference between shooting a video about clay bars, and actually clay barring a car.. some of this is for explanation purposes
Just ordered a max shine clay bar and did a small section with 3000 grit wet sand by hand a couple of passes on a used prius I just bought, looked like it hadn't be polished and wax over a year or longer, ... it came out great after a polish and wax, but I think I should try this clay bar I just bought through your link, hope it does the trick, would be better for my clearcoat I think... thank you!
I do the same at times with 3000grit. What I like best is those 3M that are like a 3/16" thick sponge that are grey colored. Stuff is perfect when wet sanding
I tested this once on a black car volvo xc 90. Heavy duty clay made more scratches as a fine grade clay bar. Its safe to say though the heavy duty clay is for more agressive contamination.
Does the job. Don't order shit clay from wish, and you should be good for your personal vehicle. If you find yourself doing this for profit, with multiple cars a day...you'll still be fine, BUT cost should be considered, as noted by Like it this video.
For a car that's not heavily contaminated then it should be fine. I have picked up embedded contamination with a clay bar which the mothers speed clay did not, pretty shocking if I'm being honest.
I've used many variations of clay bars one thing I noticed about the maxxshine heavy duty clay cars is the durability and longevity of it. I like to clay cars in the wash process save money and with soap you get the same results. With clays like mothers and meguiars the clay deteriorates rather quickly and breaks down to quick there not good dealing with multiple chemicals. Having dealt with TW and Maguire's before, PG was by far the worst customer service i have experienced.
I was initially interested in trying some of your other products too but decided against it despite your compelling price and instead paid more to get alternatives.
If you would still like to discuss the matter, let me know how to contact you or your team.
Based on the above, kindly decide if thats the kind of CS you'd like your brand to be known for and if i was being unreasonable.
Thank you.
@@vsmh96 As our customer service procedure we still need to verify the issue before deciding to replace the cloth or is it the way the customer use the products in a wrong way which caused such issues, because so far we have not had any of such issues before. Is it not logical for our customer service to request for some pictures to verify the problem before deciding on a solution?
@@PGPermaGlass it was not put across in that manner but rather in a "i dont believe you, it has never happened before" manner and so you're probably lying. Was it so hard to update your customer by making a simple call instead just letting it be? Finally, I usually wash the cars at night after work thus the cloth is used usually when its dark and i dont think my camera is going to be able to pick up anything if at all and yes, im basically replying on the orange street light to see because i dont own a garage where i have the luxury to on lights to help my claim. With that being said i just left it at that…
