Hey ,,Angry video game nerd" can you please say ,,please" from me to ,,Nostalgia Critic" to make a ,,G-FORCE" movie review episode? Thank you very much!
Hold the A button and wiggle the joystick... I also recall how it went from spirit meter on Revenge to Special meter on No Mercy. Two wrestling video games GOATS
I think James was the kind of kid that watched wrestling as a really little kid but then grew out of it really fast. Like he knows who guys like Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Jake the Snake, and Andre the Giant are. So I am assuming he was a fan in the late 80s early 90s but had already grown out of that phase before the Attitude era and the Monday Night Wars.
@@maksimtribiani1335 Everybody knew who those wrestlers were in the 80's George the Animal too. Even people with no interest who never watched wrestling knew those people. Queen Elizabeth Scary Sherri Ultimate warrior Hot Rod literally everyone knew Hot Rod. Moms and grandmas... Everyone.
These games are sort of like Mortal Kombat in the sense that they're fun to play if you're just button-mashing, but they become even better when you learn the controls, learn the moves, and can strategize your matches.
It's a bit unusual when someone so into video games is not into wrestling, especially the golden age of the late 90's. WWF No Mercy is the Holy Grail of wrestling games from this era, but this one was right up there.
It's cool to see video games and wrestling coming together. In 2021, TNA had a match where one of the weapons used was an N64 controller wrapped in barbed wire.
Brings me back to the days of 4 player gaming with my friends, this and Goldeneye were our go tos, along with Mario Kart occasionally. Those were the days 😊
The AKI games! You should cover all 4 on the N64, especially since there's people dedicated to making modkits for stuff like Project64 to keep these games alive. There's even a WCW one based off of WWF No Mercy.
There are actually 6 AKI games on the N64 if you count Virtual Pro Wrestling and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. Also the upcoming Ultra Pro Wrestling is rebuilding the original AKI engine from the ground up for their game.
If you tap the grapple button and hit up, down, left or right it's a different move. If you hold the grapple button and hit up, down, left or right it's another set of moves. When your spirit meter gets to the point it's shaking rotate the thumbs tick and you'll get your special move.
I absolutely loved this game when i was younger! I played it for hours and thought it was so cool that you actually walked out with the belt when you were champion and the NWO belt if you were with the New World Order!
As an 8 year old mexican kid back when this game was launched, it was a HUGE deal to be able to play with all the big mexican lucha starts from the 90's (Rey, Parka, Psychosis, the Guerreros, Konan, Último Dragón, Juventud, etc). I even recall the booklet had plenty of pictures with Rey, Eddie and Último Dragón. It was an exciting thing for a wrestling/lucha fan. You didn't get that much fun because the strength of the THQ wrestling games was the multiplayer modes.
I had every single one of these games and each one got better and better and kept the same easy buttons and moves. Super fun to play , even better w friends . I had wished they kept this around for ps4 and 5 w better graphics and same easy gameplay
An indy company called Hyperfocus Games is making a spiritual successor to the AKI games called Ultra Pro Wrestling. A demo should be coming out early 2024.
This game is so dope, my only nitpick was the music and how they never got the license to use the themes. I figured the main reason was some themes were already bootleg versions of actual popular songs
As someone who religiously played this back in the day I wanted to coach them so bad lol, hold B for strong strikes, how to use special move, reversals and everything else smh.
This game was the shyt back in the day growing up wrestling fan in the 90's.... it literally made wrestling cooler, made me obsessed with watching it, this game was just so addicting. ahh the memories.
As a HUGE wrestling fan (and content creator focusing on it), I REALLY enjoyed hearing what your friend was saying about pro wrestling; you can tell he really liked it at one point and has a real respect for it. 10/10 episode!
Top tier late 90s video game. I can't even ball park the number of matches my friends and cousins have had over the years. The were bringing in ringers and s**t.

I'd love to see you do a look back into goldeneye and then perfect dark!
Should I get them? Is it like a budget quest 3?
At 10.30 when the spirit meter was flashing , I was like please wiggle the joystick . I'm almost 40 and I still remember the controls exactly
Same! I was like "just accidentally tap the stick!!"
Just accidentally tap the stick. What is what most of us near 40 say
Firepanda282 I see you're also a man of culture.
Hold the A button and wiggle the joystick... I also recall how it went from spirit meter on Revenge to Special meter on No Mercy. Two wrestling video games GOATS
My dad had n64 with wwf no mercy wwf Wrestlemania 2000 and nwo/wcw revenge. So many memories with those games. They hold up still to this day!
You're dad?. I feel old now.
@@atlsooner85was just about to say the same. I am the dad who had these games 😂
I had to plug up my N64 with No Mercy just to see if the Resident Evil characters i created 20 years ago were still there. They are. 😊
get the new AEW game they made it play in homage of the old 64 games
I agree those are some of yhe best games ever 👏
You can tell James has no idea about any of this wrestling stuff when he says “oh really?” lol
He liked wwf royal rumble as a kid.
I think James was the kind of kid that watched wrestling as a really little kid but then grew out of it really fast. 100%
The great thing about the N64 was the 4 controller ports.
I loved playing this game as a kid. I still have my working cartridge.
james rolfe is a "special" type of villain. mike is the brains part, but pretty dumb himself. Romanians....
Might be one of my only originals left from when I was a kid
The GOAT of wrestling games
Smackdown Vs Raw games are the GOAT
No Mercy is my GOAT but I won’t argue. Revenge is certainly up there.
Nah... WM2000 is the GOAT
THQ made excellent wrestling games back then!!
Interesting take since this isn’t even the best version of this game engine
This was and still is my favorite wrestling game.
Best control, roster, graphics. Only missing the create a character that later WWF titles with THQ enjoyed
While No Mercy might be the best all around game, Revenge has the best roster ever assembled.
It's a bit unusual when someone so into video games is not into wrestling, especially the golden age of the late 90's. WWF No Mercy is the Holy Grail of wrestling games from this era, but this one was right up there.
The best WCW game.
The best N64 game*
Hit the control stick when your spirit meter flashes to get your special move! Then hold A and control stick to use it!
So glad you guys are keeping this series up. Always fun watching James and friends play games casually 🦃
james rolfe is a "special" type of villain. mike is the brains part, but pretty dumb himself. romanians.... the worse half of albanians

Why they stopped?
@@sixpounder18 Mike Matei went on to do other projects. They're still friends and everything as far as I know.
Neighbor Nerds is such a chill series, I love it
So John is a wrestling fan too, i like him even more !
My buddy on the couch recently passed away. (Car accident) . So thanks for bringing this type of thing back to cinamassacre.
I've been in the exact same boat the past 2 years, I hear you. Hope you're doing well today.
John is a gem, you guys are awesome together. Love the Neighbour Nerds content
Played so many hours of this with my buddies and also WWF WrestleMania 2000 and WWF No Mercy.
Your man sounds like Jannice from Friends when he laughs.
I think he sounds like Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf from Howard Stern
I always thought it was funny how there were only two entrance themes in the game.
As a kid, I genuinely thought thaat Wrestlers like The Undertaker or Sting are actual supernatural people
It's cool to see video games and wrestling coming together. In 2021, TNA had a match where one of the weapons used was an N64 controller wrapped in barbed wire.

Wwf no mercy is the best game made with this engine.
The WCW games for N64 were the PEAK of wrestling games
Nah, Smackdown 2 and Raw were
This is one of the best wrestling games ever made , I spent what seems like a lifetime playing this game as kid 🔥
Countless hours sunk into the AKI wrestling games on N64

Never expected my favourite game to show up here 🖤

N64 wrestling games were so sick
Such an incredible game, I skipped school to buy it, played it all day, added my own people to nWo Wolfpac.

I was almost yelling and my pc for you guys to figure out the special moves, glad you finally did.
I want them to do their finishers but they didn't know how
Anyone get frustrated when people forget HOLD A for more powerful grapple moves? Or HOLD B for more powerful kicks and punches?
I like how the audience consists just out of 2 frames that play over and over :D
Days closer to Christmas 🎄 The 1990s nostalgia feeling Is kicking In…😊
Thanks for all the wonderful memories over the years James! Love you man!!!
This game was epic
James……don’t ever have the dude on your vids again. Sincerely, your fan from

I had WCW/nWo World Tour, and that was fun.
I bought this game when it came out. My girlfriend and I stayed up all night playing it.
The nostalgia factor with this game is strong boys!! Goldeneye, This and wrestlemania 2000 were played to death on my N64
I discovered the Nerd during the start of the lockdown; COVID. I am grateful for that, Thank you James.
I live in a place where we never locked down and I routinely forget that anyone ever had to lock down 😫
Sorry you had to go through that

For every finish move its just strong grapple and toggle
John is the perfect guy to play a wrestling game with because he sounds like hes taken a decades worth of chairshots to the head

The era of great wrestling games
Shows how much in-game crowds have evolved over the years.
Would love to see your impressions on the recent Robocop game
WCW/nWo Revenge is a great game, but for me World Tour, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy stand out as the best.
This was my FAVORITE N64 game I had as a kid!
Not sure why they didn't turn pins on from the start! Lol
I miss WCW. Diamond Dallas Page was my favorite wrestler back in the WCW days. 💎 "FEEL THE BANG!"
John just earned a special place in my heart. A nerd who knows his wrasslin
*Rasslin
My favorite nerd playing one of my favorite games ever. I really like this video
Wrestlemania 2000 was the best one . Cause you were able to create your own character and choose which moves and taunts you wanted.
YESSSS!!! This is my favoriye wrestling game of all! Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, and AKI/THQ Man were ny favorites!!!

Hands down my favorite wrestling game it was so much better than anything before. So many memories of staying up all night with friends playing this
Viture glasses dystopian AF
Man I've played this game quite a lot, big nostalgia right there
The undisputed champion of wrestling games. Epic throwdowns in this one. Music slaps too. Great video
Virtual Pro Wrestling is The GOAT. (Japanese version of World Tour)
This game is so dope, my only nitpick was the music and how they never got the license to use the themes. I figured the main reason was some themes were already bootleg versions of actual popular songs
I liked this game, but WWF No Mercy for N64 was the best!
We used to play Smackdown on PS1 so much back in the day. This video returned me to those times

I think you'll like the SmackDown games on the PS1 and PS2 a lot more. They're easier to get into than the AKI N64 wrestling games.
nWo, along with that badass theme song of theirs, was absolute PEAK 90s awesomeness
BTW The theme song was a sample of a Jimi Hendrix song. (Hence why Hollywood's theme and the nWo theme went together so well.)
