Another great and balanced review Eric. I tend to look past the shortcomings of Orient's bracelets and either " live with it " or change them out for silicone or leather, but the issue you had is another thing entirely. I like my Kanno. Despite being a larger watch it sits better on my wriest than say the Kamasu, and appears to be just slightly less thick even though it sits just as tall.
Hey davidnaples7070. I really like the looks of the Kanno but unfortunately had a couple of issues. I spoke with someone else and he didn’t have the issues with his watch that I had, so it’s really depends on the individual watch. I prefer a strap or nato, but I know lot people like bracelets so I try to get those for review. Thanks for watching again.
Good critical review. Appreciate the more critical points that most reviewers don't go into. I get being positive but the negatives are very helpful as well. Great job!
Hello icesensemadness. Thanks. When I started my channel someone gave me advice to tell the pros and cons which aren’t apparent by just looking at an online photo. I always remember that and try to share everything I learn from my hands on experience in my reviews.
And what a joy these reviews are! I haven’t had the pleasure of owning an Orient yet, but this could change soon… For now I’m waiting for two Casios that I’ve just ordered , but I might consider an Orient soon. Maybe not this one: the bracelet 2mm gap bugs me too… Thanks for the video!
@@Time4Life321 hi Eric! They are two G shocks, closely related to one another. One is the DW - 5750: this watch has a very close bond to a childhood memory (although in that memory it was the 1980s version, made in Japan, with a screw down case back). It was one of the two watches that sparked my passion for Casio, which is still strong. The other is it’s updated version, the GWX5700 : The case shape is almost identical and the aesthetic is similar, however this model has tough solar, it is radio controlled, and has this interesting feature of showing the tide level. I bought them used for a very very good price, and they’re as new with all the boxes, manuals and everything. After these two I must take a break from digitals, and look for an automatic or mechanical. Ciao!
@@lislearnitalianwithsongs those are nice. I especially like the tide one and I see it comes in different colors. Very cool. I love the fact watches can bring us back to certain time in our lives. Enjoy my friend. 😃
Nice review - this model is usually overlooked so it is a bit harder to find any opinion about it. Last summer I got an Orient Kanno as a birthday gift - blue and orange bezel with a silicon strap and I just love rocking them. I can attest that silicon strap option is better than the bracelet one: the strap itself feels nice and decent (and also maybe it's my personal dislike of metal bracelets style in general).
I love my red Kanno! I have an 8" wrist so the size fits me well. I picked mine up for around $170. I actually like the bracelet, and its been exceptinally accurate, +2spd. For me due to the size I find it significantly more wearable then my Kamasu, although I wish it had sapphire
Great job Eric , unfortunately for both of us Orient does not seem to be popular with either of our channel subscribers. I used to love my Mako ll but at its new release price the Mako lll is too expensive. At least your watch represents better value, though it would dwarf my puny wrist 😅
Hey John. I had a fair amount of people watch my Mako 2 video, but my Triton video didn’t get as many views. It feels like people have specific Orient watches they like. We’ll see if this is one of them. I haven’t looked at the Mako 3. It would be a shame if Orient starts raising their prices. They are suppose to be “the new Seiko”.
@@Time4Life321 If you mean they can't be bothered to put quality bracelets and clasps on their watches then yep they are the new Seiko....and the Mako lll I have for review also has a misaligned bezel insert.... Yep they ARE the new Seiko haha!!
The bezel seems to be hit & miss on the Kanno, indeed - I returned the first one I bought exactly because of the wobbly bezel, the second one was perfect in that regard. It's also worth mentioning that both have been regulated exceptionally well out of factory - +2/+3 spd.
Even cheap bracelets can be comfortable but the problems you pointed out with this bracelet are hard to look past. I'd put an FKM strap on it. I still think a guy could do a lot worse than this when buying his first automatic watch, but especially for someone who wants a bracelet that they can wear (and not have to buy it separately), it's best to look elsewhere -- and while you're at it, get a watch with a sapphire crystal. Aside from Orient, we have to look to the microbrands for better value & there are some good options out there. I still enjoy my Phoibos Leviathan DLC for example.
Hello Vonkruel. Micro brands have certainly come a long ways, there are definitely some good options out there. I think the hardest part for people new to watches is learning about them and figuring out which one to possibly take a chance on. One of the big benefits of the large brands is you can still walk into a store and try it on in person before buying it. I am just now checking out my first Phoibos watch.
@@Time4Life321 The Leviathan was my 1st mechanical watch and I feel I lucked out with it. Here's an idea when buying from microbrands: put the watch you want in your cart and just let it sit there for a couple days. You may be offered a discount to entice you to pull the trigger. This was my experience when I bought the Leviathan, at least. Of course this won't work for limited production runs that sell out quickly, but otherwise it's worth a try. Phoibos is a favourite of mine and I like their logo. Hail Hydra!
I have this exact blue Kanno model and it spends more time on my wrist then any other watch I own. I don’t mind the bracelet at all. Although I did swap it for a navy blue rubber strap that was only intended for the summer but now I like so much it will likely live on the Kanno permanently. I am surprised the bezel is not aligned on this one. If I show my Kanno to someone the main feature I point out is the bezel. Mine is ridiculously smooth and feels like something that should be on a watch multiple the price. Mine is also perfectly aligned, and while it has some minor playback, it is far less then other more expensive watches I own and perfectly acceptable. Based on others I have seen with this watch I would guess in this case the misalignment is an unfortunate fluke. I just watched a video from The Mad Watch Collector in which he complained about the bezel movement on an Omega Seamaster 300. Many in the comments mentioned theirs did not have the same issue. So this is maybe not just an affordable watch fluke issue. Although if that happened with a 5k+ watch I must admit I would be a little more upset. My guess is there is a DIY solution if one is brave enough. I am also one of those crazy people that prefer a mineral crystal. If that mineral is vs a sapphire that does not have the anti-reflective treatment done well. I have g-shocks I put through a lot with mineral and they are perfect so I find the fear of scratches overblown. I would rather risk a small scratch that is either not noticeable or negligible to just replace if needed than a less clear crystal.
Hello cjboazer385. I have heard of a fix for a bezel. It involves heating it up and trying to slide it in place before the glue sets again but I haven’t tried it myself. I think the misalignment issue is just something that happens, it’s luck (or unlucky) draw of the cards. I hear you about the strap change. That can make all the difference on a watch.👍👍
Hello vezqeux. I’m been experimenting with different formats. This video may have the background music set louder than some newer videos. Thanks for your feedback.
I love how we see you putting the watch through its paces while doing ordinary things that we all actually do.
Thanks johnvienna3422. 👍

I did put it on a rubber strap because the bracelet was too thin and cheap feeling.
This is one of those watches which I think just gets all that much better with a rubber strap. 👍😀

Hey my friend. The bracelet definitely bums me out about this watch. Too bad because the dial looks great.
