Other than podcasts, cooking is a large part of the content I consume on UA-cam, and I can say without a doubt he has some of the best skills I've ever seen. Everything comes out perfect and his multi tasking skills are insane. The boys are lucky to have a successful father that ALSO cares deeply about them. I can't remember anyone in my family telling me they are cooking something specifically because they know I like it.
My 80-year-old Great Uncle made me chopped herring, from scratch because I didn't like the gefilte fish, which he also made from scratch. My Great Aunt said he was up super early to go to the fishmonger & then he spent all morning preparing it, for our visit at noon. I felt so bad he had to work so hard to make it for me but he smiled & said it was his pleasure. I visited my Nephew & asked him to make BBQ hamburgers & hot dogs because I didn't have a BBQ. When I came for dinner he had made BBQ steak & chicken. I was so 'let down'; I was salivating for the hamburgers & hot dogs. He said he couldn't serve his favorite Aunt just hamburgers & hot dogs. When I flew back home I bought an electric BBQ to use in my apartment- LOL.
I think its so cool that he always refers to everything you like as "your favorite". You can tell he really remembers what you prefer or enjoy and pays attention to that stuff, and is excited to use it to make something you'll like. Maybe it seems dumb or forgettable to some, but its cool that he can show you he loves you in that way. I miss my dad who passed away a while a go a ton, and similar acts of kindness that he did really stick out to me in hindsight.
I disagree. The guy is a rare dude and one of a kind. I feel like having him appear once every couple episodes keeps it special, exciting, and novel. It’s like “oh shit it’s Susur!” Trying to pump out videos just for the sake of doing it takes away the magic IMO. It’s like eating chocolate cake. It’s amazing if you haven’t had it in a few months opposed to eating it every night for desert. Then it loses the appeal.
I've seen a lot of cooking youtube channels. By far. This is hands down the best chef youtuber. Yes he is an Iron Chef no doubt about that but it's just seeing the experience of how he cooks and multi tasks everything and how he describes why his son asks questions and he answers it for the viewers is very informative.
You can always recognize a true Chef by the ease with which they cook. Everything looks so simple & well organized. This is the first time I have watched Chef Susur Lee prepare a meal. My all-time favorite Chef is Jacques Pépin & he too, has over 40 years of experience preparing meals & running a restaurant. I love their inventiveness/creativity with dishes. I would never in a million years be able to do what they do. I'm grateful to UA-cam because I haven't eaten this well in years. The great cooks in my family have died & they took all their recipes with them.
The thing that is great about these videos is that we are watching a person who cooks and develops receipts every day preparing a meal from market to table, in real time. As a person who has lots of restaurant and home experience, I find “celebrity chef” programs are more about the chef than the food. Recipes can be so intricate and complicated as to be unattainable at home or so ridiculously simple that any experienced cook won’t learn anything. The timing of how to cook a multi-course meal solo, complete with foundational teachings and tips based on experience, combined with social and cultural background, make Chef Lee a standout educator. Jet’s enthusiasm as a learner and genuine respect for the art add to my own enjoyment as a learner. Great channel!
You can see his lifelong restaurant experience in everything he does. Even in a basic diner those cooks have to be masters of multitasking when you have an endless stream of orders coming in, but the true pros like your Dad are able to handle all that while adding a level of elegance to bring it to the next level. Thanks for sharing
That lobster with beurre blanc looks easy, but it’s actually a delicate dish that requires finesse. He just demonstrated every single ingredient that requires different cooking time and put them all together at the same time. A true culinary artist.
I just watched a Masterclass for free...You can tell he's not even thinking, just performing out of pure instinct and decades of experience and skill. So awesome!
Love seeing the love that you have for your father it is such a joy as a dad to cook in your kitchen and have your kids alongside of you whether they're helping or commentary it's always a special delight and a treat for a father
An amazing chef in his own habitat, will only allow him to create dishes not only from the heart. But from his soul!!!!! Only because, his house contains the most important guests in his life. Which only drives any home cook and or any home enthusiast. That may dabble in any cuisine, that allows them the safety but also the upmost drive! To create dishes that they would’ve never thought about or thought possible. THANK YOU CHEF! For the inspiration, love and perspective on your love for food.
I'm a 34 year old chef turned stay at home dad. It's a real treat seeing how a chef of his caliber operate in his home kitchen. Organized and clean. I love it.
You guys are so lucky to have such a great and knowledgeable dad, Very patient and cool, I can only wish to be half the man your father is, much love from Ireland
Susurs care for the smallest things like his audience and his ingredients (the Lobster and the secret ingredient lol) just shows how much of passion he has for the world honestly. I’ve had so much respect for him ever since Kai put out that video for Levi’s bday or sumn. Susur always did his own floral arrangements and never got a florist j because he loved it so much. This man is amazing
id love to see a video of his efficient energetic cleaning of his kitchen after a meal like this. I always thought I was doing something wrong when I tornadoed my kitchen while cooking, but it seems like its something that's all but unavoidable when cooking a meal with many components and moving parts.
the whole point of this channel is so he can show the internet how him and his dad connect with food, not to be rude but im pretty sure as a professional chef that was on TV for a while, this is probably all he wants! Again its my opinion!
I love seeing Susur cooking. Your interaction remains me of when I would watch my mom cook and ask her a bunch of questions about it. She had so much wisdom and was still able to multitask and make delicious food. I wish I had recorded those moments. She had a stroke a few years back and didn't cook after that, and she passed away last December. Missing her so much as I watch this.
Thank you!! to you and your dad for doing these videos! Very fun to watch a professional chef in his natural habitat where he can be himself! LOVE IT!!!
Interesting story about your dad and quality of service. Over 15 years ago I was having dinner in the back room for a work event. I unfortunately had to leave just before dessert. Rather than let me go, your dad plated an amazing dessert and sent me on my way with one of the huge Restaurant plates. I’ll never forget that!
chefs are so amazing, being able to multitask while keeping time management so the food doesn't overcook. I could learn a thing or two from chef and his efficiency
The food is sliding toward the back, so the relative speed of the food hitting the curve of the pan also includes that, not just the speed of the pan itself.
The way he extracted and prepared to lobster meat was UNREAL! I'm definitely doing it like that now. I also love how he wasted nothing and used the juice for the sauce
Well yes, I guess that I do enjoy watching a creative cooking show. But mostly I really enjoy watching your dad. He is so very charismatic and has a way about him that is so attractive to my soul.
"Forgiveness", that was deep, not going to lie. I hope I'm a good dad like him.
As far as we know, anyway
@@manuelmateo3392 Susur Lee is a very respectable mentor to his mentees as well. Those people attest to his character.
It made me stop and think for a few... 😊
Son: "this is my favorite vegetable"
Dad: "yeah, that's why i made it"
man...that's father/son love right there.

You left out the best part “I know you love it” so wholesome
I thought that was beautiful, too.
He did say while introducing the ingredients :) "...because this is your favorite thing" 1:26

When Chef said "that's why I made it because I know you would love it" :')
Yeah, wholesome as f.
The lobster didn’t love it it went in tail first it felt it’s tail burn for like 3seconds but who cares lobsters r too dumb to care
I would just love to watch him de shell the thing he took shell of tail like it was nothing
best part about cooking, watching someone enjoy something your cooked... especially with family
Your dad is literally our dad lol not complaining, I love to see him on the videos 🙌🏻
In a sense.

It's actually insane how master-level his culinary skills are compared to other cooking channels on youtube, let alone the average person.
He is an iron chef so that makes sense.
Imagine following w tutorial by him
@@Jayy-Paus at a certain point you go from cook to chef. tutorials are for aspiring cooks. art is for chefs. unfortunately that part can't be taught.
