Ima be honest.. parks is right. Album is a masterpiece. There are certain songs on Elton John or John Lennon levels. No one else but Kendrick could achieve that imo.
That's because Kendrick and Kanye spend some real money on producers and outside influences for their music. If you look at the credits for TPAB you see current day jazz/R&B giants like Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, etc. Drake does everything mostly in house with 40 and a couple other guys. They do a pretty good job at OVO, but you're never gonna get that variety.
Album was trash. Please tell me, which track had half the amount of instrumentation of a john Lennon track? Not a sample, please just name one track that has anywhere near the level of composition of a Elton john song. Don’t break your ears trying
I'm glad and surprised Joe likes the album. It truly is great. The more you replay it, the better it becomes. More sounds you notice, more vocals, more harmonies. It just has depth. I listened to CLB last night, loved it... but, that same night I went back to Donda I'm not gonna lie. Which is wild even to me.
This is a great album. It's a movie. When you find yourself talking to yourself in the car talking about how good that last track was, you know the deal. This album has many moments like that.

Half of the people understand how great this album is and for the other half, it is completely going over their heads due to the controversies of Kanye and the future gospel ethereal sounds of the music. They’re ears are playing catch-up. It’s like when I first heard Yeezus, I didn’t understand it, my ears weren’t ready but now when I put that album on in 2021 👀🔥 Let’s see what people say about this album in 5 years
Gotta remember Kanye is on a different wave. It’s dedicated to God and his momma but at the same time every beat on the album is mixable af. DJs can have their way w this album fr
Anyone in the Music industry losses credibility when they suggest that Donda was just ok, Do their Ears work? And I'm not even a Kanye fan... This project is Timeless!
I’m curious to see if they keep that same energy about the Drake album. I am not a Drake hater but the first half of his album almost put me to sleep. Kanye literally made God rap cool. I agree with Joe Kanye made a masterpiece those other guys are buggin.
Andre’s statement about his song release KINDA make Kanye’s statement about Universal releasing DONDA without his permission legit. 1. Not only André but also Dababy and Pusha T were cut. 2. The released version is a CLEAN album with cuss words blurted out instead of not having them at all
i’m an og kanye fan, i’ve evolved as a person n what kanye did with this album n the way it touches topics n overcomes heals , thematically put together...it’s on another level. this is gunna be a classic album.
@@BG33917 when drake talk about black people and actually help like ye do, he’ll have more black fans. There’s a reason he’s always ducking those themes in his songs.
Jay Electronica had the hardest verse in the hole project. The length of the album is perfect for the streaming and the algorithm. Yeah, and Donda ain't a Gospel album, I'd call it therapy.
We gotta redefine a gospel album, this was Kanye and his features speaking truthfully about their faith in an inspiring manner, this is more gospel than all these uninspired gospel artists who make the same songs.
A good portion of Donda is melodic, it seems like Ish appreciates more so the lyrical side of music more than the melodic and soulful, he quick to hate though lol
Both albums will age well & people who say it’s mid really didn’t listen for real they just wanted the beef & hype to live within both albums which doesn’t make sense cause it wouldn’t have replay value
CLB really is mid though...Some songs and beats have been leaked for 2 years now and some cadences come from popular songsthat are out already. We used to the world following Drake flows not the other way around...
I feel like after Ish & Ice get a chance to sit with this album and really listen with open ears they will see how dope it is. Ice said he only likes 4 songs but proceeded to rave about how dope all the features were. There are features on every single song 😑. Make that make sense 😂😂😂 I honestly feel like they will have a change of heart by tomorrow’s pod. It’s no way you can listen to that album with no bias and say it’s mid. Too many undeniable bangers on there and honestly after listening to CLB there’s a few hot songs but Kanye smoked his boots and I’m a drake fan. 🤷🏾♂️
This album gave out the old Kanye. Not the same level but the same genius. So proud of Ye, album of the year so far. Ye Album Ratings: 1. MBDTF 2. College Dropout 3. Graduation 4. Late Registration 5. 808s 6. Donda (close to the 5 spot) 7. Blah blah blah…
Can we talk about the Yeezus hate all these years later?..I thought people’s opinion finally changed around that album. I didn’t fw it at the time but I’ve been playing it a lot lately since Donda dropped and realising how much I love it (I used to find the song title I am a God offensive without even listening properly to it, now it’s my fav song on the album). I was such a sheep back in 2013 for saying it was trash. It’s not trash, it’s experimental and that album put experimental hip hop front and Centre like few rappers have ever done. I realised I enjoy Kanye more when he’s being experimental than when he’s making commercial radio hits. When he said his fav albums are 808s and Grad - those are essentially pop albums now. Grad is full of radio hits and 808s has the sounds that became pop/r&b years later.
Im a Kanye stan that still hates Yeezus till this day. I guess it wasn't for me. I went back to 808s after the Hollywood Bowl Performance & it was amazing. With Yeezus when ever I go back to it, I pick up something to hate. Ive really tried but its a hard miss for me. JIK OVER BOTH DONDA & YEEZUS.
@@simunyemdunge999 I just listened to it entirely today and was thinking “why did I hate this? I actually like this” but I get that it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. I often find the people who love yeezus aren’t the biggest fans of mainstream commercial hip hop to begin with, the type of people you’re more likely to find listening to Death Grips and underground alternative rap acts rather than the Migos. I respect any mainstream rapper shining a spotlight on experimental/industrial hip hop at the expense of losing their own commercial fanbase.
@@nameisamine My perception of Yeezus is it gave rise to the bandwagnist community of Hip Hop like HHT. Where most claimed Yeezus grew on them in order to be accepted as part of the cool table. Most vocal Yeezus stans are people that weren't even paying attention to Ye's previous work but they walking around thinking there are the miracle whip. That sector of HHT keeps ruining my takes on Yeezus. Even with Donda they just throw art next to it without any explaining as to why. New age Kanye fans are just like Nicki/Cardi/Meg stans to me. Anyrthing is a classic.
@@simunyemdunge999 . The album seems deeply autobiographical to me, so reckless unapologetic and angry, when I figured out why he was so angry at the time it helped me digest the album better, and knowing now after those years being in Paris and the frustrations he was facing, not being taken seriously, going into millions of dollars of debt trying to launch his brand, knowing that he came through the other side and built a billion dollar company?… It makes the album part of a bigger story in his soap opera I guess. If it was just music and I listened without context I don’t think I would be as interested tbh. All the obstacles he’s facing seem to come out through the music. Although it can be uncomfortable to listen to those screams on ‘I am a God’ that’s how he was feeling at the time. It’s kinda a time capsule showing a pretty broken man who is feeling so confident yet so diminished by others at the same time. Idk this album just fascinates me. It’s more a fascinating for me than ‘enjoyment’ there’s definitely other albums I enjoy more.

In 3 years ppl gon be saying this is a masterpiece and are going to compare it to mbdtf
Yeezus is very underrated, one of his best work IMO and very forward thinking
