You can't control another person. So if a teen decides to go against the grain there is nothing you can do or say that will change that. As jurors, we hear a lot of cases like these: 1) teenagers stealing cars and causing accidents that results in injuries or death. 2) teenagers with expired licence or suspended licence using their parents vehicles and getting into accidents that cause deaths. 3) teenagers going on joyride drunk or high or both, speeding through traffic and causing accidents resulting in serious injuries or deaths. 4) teenagers breaking traffic rules and running away from cops and driving unto incoming traffic resulting in injuries or death. Many of these circumstances could have been avoided if these teenagers respected their parents enough not to engage in these kinds of criminal behaviors or if their parents taught them well enough.

That attitude goes way back. I'm old enough to remember a public service TV campaign in the 1960s to get people not to leave their keys in their cars. As jurors, we hear a lot of cases like these: 1) teenagers stealing cars and causing accidents that results in injuries or death. 2) teenagers with expired licence or suspended licence using their parents vehicles and getting into accidents that cause deaths. 3) teenagers going on joyride drunk or high or both, speeding through traffic and causing accidents resulting in serious injuries or deaths. 4) teenagers breaking traffic rules and running away from cops and driving unto incoming traffic resulting in injuries or death.
Many of these circumstances could have been avoided if these teenagers respected their parents enough not to engage in these kinds of criminal behaviors or if their parents taught them well enough.

The poor woman they hit with spinal injuries may never walk again & may have to be put on a ventilator!! Surely they should be accountable for pretty much ruining her life!! Why do they release these young adults with only a slap on the wrist??
These punks were so brazen, it's hard to imagine, they just walk into that woman's home and take her keys while she was asleep? Good thing they didn't do anything to her.......They definitely need to be tried as adults, all of them....and they need to go to an adult prison, no slap on the wrist.
Both victims should file lawsuits against all of those thugs parents.
We don't need to be more vigilant, keep those kids locked up and this wouldn't have happened. But they will be back out soon, and that woman will need years of rehab, makes perfect sense.

These “kids” can’t be helped. They will never stop living in the moment because they don’t care about the future.
The “community” needs to start raising their kids instead of turning them loose for the streets to raise them. Both parents are a necessity in a child’s life. Single mothers are some of the worst parents around.
A LOT of single mothers worry about finding a "man" more than raising their child. My son's mother was like that. She was always bringing a new man around her kids and that's not healthy. When I would meet a new female I would get to know her BEFORE introducing my child to her. I wanted to know that she was gonna stick around instead of my child meeting a bunch of females just to see a new one next week.
