‘Weights aren’t always needed’ but if you’re not failing and just randomly do 15-20 reps then this won’t stimulate hypertrophy. Do 8-15 reps like any other body part and make sure you’re failing, i.e. going as heavy as possible assuming perfect form.

If he is talking about training abs similar to how you would train a bicep with the goal in mind to make it bigger/stronger he is correct. But, if he is talking about getting your abs/six pack to SHOW, he is heavily incorrect. Getting abs (six pack) requires a lower body fat, around the 10-15% range and you can achieve this however you want with dieting (less calories) and exercise (burning calories and building muscle).
If you do leg raises like shown in the video, it won't really target the abs at all, just the hip flexors. Really need to bring the whole hips forward when doing it
I googled your training days and found Monday chest, Tuesday arms, Wednesday rest, Thursday Back,Friday shoulders, Saturday legs and Sunday rest. I didn't see abs day at all...

Dude it's called a proper crunch you are just working out your lower back if you go further than that and your also tiring your self out for no reason so just being sub-optimal doing a "complete crunch"

My gym has a machine that you sit on, hook your feet up to the bottom and pull it to engage your lower core and the top seat goes forward so you're engaging your upper and lower core at the same time I love it

if you lock your joints in place and let your torso do all the pull down then your arms wont be effected
