Engineers need to pick up a wrench once in a while maybe. Over kill to replace a battery...agree? One of their cars I believe has a battery in the fender??? Unreal man. I really miss the good old days. Great video by the way thank you.
Great video, thanks! I had all kinds of strange electrical problems -- doors, wouldn't start without multiple tries, various systems like collision warning saying they are offline, etc. Once I unhooked the aux battery, all those problem disappeared and I was only left with a non-working auto-start/stop. This is a good interim fix until the battery was replaced.
Had Chrysler dealer replace the auxiliary battery for me this past weekend in my 2018 Pacifica Limited and I just changed the main battery today. Still getting the stop/start unavailable error. Taking it back to get looked at by the dealer again EDIT: Nevermind! I saw in another comment thread where Bruce recommended disconnecting the power from both batteries to clear the error and that worked! I guess since I didn't replace both batteries at the same time this was a necessary step.
Thanks for the video. I had to also take off the other two connecting wires in the positive terminal (red) box to get it out of the way. When putting the securing piece back in, I finally got it by reaching between the battery and the fabric insulation.
Thanks for your video about replacing the main battery. It helped me replaced mine which was bad on my 2018 chrysler pacifica limited. Auto Part said they can't touch certain vehicles as far as replacing the battery and I can see why. Thank You! 😊
Leave it to Chrysler. Last Chrysler i owned taught me to never own a Chrysler again. Had to remove a motor mount to replace a belt. I see Chrysler still upto no good. Had to look this up for a friend.
You have not lived life until you tried to change the battery in an Audi Q7! Under the front passenger seat! All manufacturers make things so you can’t do the work yourself! Not just Chrysler!
Good video. A word of caution about working around a car battery while wearing a ring. A mechanic I know shorted a terminal with an open end wrench touching his wedding ring, and instantly, the flesh on his finger was burned down to the bone. Take 'em off.
ha! i just took mine off to work on wifes 2017 chrysler! wife doesn't ask me why im not wearing the ring when its on the counter anymore. im always working around the house and will take it off before any work is done! i got it caught on a 3 inch bolt holding a hammock once and that was the end of that!
And the say people are dumb on the internet. Wow thanks Men, newly married and a grease monkey. Guess I have no choice. I was thinking this very thing. Well all mechanics wear there ring, including my family of mechanics. But nope, not me no more
@@cuinican1980 I used to be an industrial maintenance tech and most of us never wore our wedding rings or any other metal jewelry on the job. My solution to the aux battery is to leave it disconnected. I find it to be a hazard. My van does not stop in turn lanes now but I doing have a warning light. I had a problem with the aux battery draining the main battery. I replaced the main battery first and it died again. So if you keep the aux battery hooked up, replace them both at the same time.
Why not just leave the auxiliary battery disconnected on the ground wire and don't replace it at all. It will only go bad and become a constant drain on the main battery. I hate that Start\stop system anyway.
It is possible, the best way to be sure is to replace the battery. After disconnecting all batteries for 5 minutes , check the other electrical systems. Thanks for watching!
My stop/start is not working. It say unavailable, to service system. I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. Both batteries were replaced 2 years ago. Now I have the A with the arrow circled around it with the exclamation point.
Sorry for the late reply, I moved toa new state and have not had much time for replies. You should not have to do both. You probably figured this out already. Thanks for watching!
On some models, I don't know if it's on models made in Canada vs made wherever else, the aux battery is not to the side of the main battery, it is in the passenger front up under the panel?
Question I'm having the same issue but my battery does not have the 3 connectors it only has 2. 80 and 70 white and red, no black. Can anyone explain why?
Will this also work if the van isn’t cranking up? When I push the start/stop button it does nothing. I thought it might be the key fob but we replaced the battery in it and it still won’t crank. And it’s not showing a low battery light.
Had a same issue removed fuse F17 and K9 both for starter and star stop fuses started cranking alot more but empty gas tank like not starting tried another 10 minutes empty cranks then it started now its running OK just keep jump started all the time probably battery issue
Did you have to reset anything after you put the new battery in? We were told told battery was dead and replaced it but the message for start/stop is unavailable is still coming up.
Sorry, I didn't see your comment. You need to wait about ten minutes otherwise there can be a bit of stored power the car uses to keep everything from resetting.

@@brucemackenthundoesitallll4296 Thanks. I actually decided to completely remove the aux battery to make it easier to lift the main out. Not sure if my 2017 is a bit different, but it looked like it would be a real wrestling match to get the battery past that cross brace.
Whatever fuel had been saved by start/stop is far outpaced by the fuel burned driving to buy new batteries. You would almost think Chrysler makes AGM batteries.
You need to feel around the bottom of the battery. There is a clamp/ bolt that is holding it in place. It does not look like much but it is enough to hold the battery. Keep looking you should find it.
@@brucemackenthundoesitallll4296 yeah, always good to see how everybody else does repairs, large or small. Those Chrysler batteries cause a lot of different electrical issues as with all cars now that everything is very touchy when it comes to voltage drops. Thanks for sending and keep sharing.

Hi there. My start stop light is on in the dash. Both batteries are good. What do you think can be?
I would try dissconnecting both for ten minutes to let the system reset. If it is still on I would have the batteries checked by a second time.

How much is the back up battery
I can't remember and it probably cost more now anyway.
