Here's like, a summary of my posting experiences. I have two series, Vindicaris: a black/white single-panel style action series, and Talon Hunters: a full-color scroll action series. Neither of which really have any romance. Tapas: Was originally GREAT when I first started posting Vindicaris, could get readers easily and a bulk of current reader base was from pre-romance era lol. Talon Hunters launched post-romance era and it's slowly gotten subs, mostly from cross promotion with Vindi. Nowadays it's basically impossible to get readers without being actively promoted on the app (and even then...). One thing I do love though is ANYONE CAN POST GIFS!!! I love adding little animations to my series :D Webtoon: Vindicaris has had an AWFUL time on WT. A lot of the panels are gifs, and that's a big draw to the series, but I can't post those on WT canvas :'). Talon Hunters meanwhile got promo'd immediately, which was pretty fun. It's almost surpassed its Tapas sub count in only a couple months LOL. Comicfury: I've *very much* enjoyed using it. It's bulk uploader has been godsend for Vindi since each update is like, 20 panels and I can schedule them all for the same day with a couple clicks (unlike with squarespace, which I was originally using for hosting). I haven't really been using it for acquiring new readers, just hosting, so the new subs I do get are a welcome bonus! GlobalComix: Vindicaris has actually had surprisingly good luck here. GC is good for more western and action series, and Vindi qualifies just enough to get views. It's even been promo'd on official accounts and articles! Uploading is a huge pain though, very clunky. Talon Hunters hasn't gotten any traction there, haha. Dillyhub: Has a lot of potential, but literally no one uses it LOL. If it ever blows up, I could see it being very popular due to all the options it has for posting and monetization.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! This is really interesting information (especially in regards to the gifs -- it's so cool that you use them and that Tapas allows for them! I wonder if they work on Comicfury? The site does allow artists to upload them, at least). Dillyhub sounds neat -- another site to check out and hope gets attention from readers soon haha!

I use some CSS for my scroll comic to make sure it looks right on desktop and mobile :D I wanna see if I can completely change the site's appearance only for a single page cuz that'd be awesome for special pages.
The only experience I have is as a reader on webtoon. And let me tell you: the point that webtoons search bar is bad, is still putting it lightly! In my experience, the search option is absolutely terrible to the point where it almost doesn't work! I follow multiple artists on Instagram who started putting their comics on webtoon, and even with the exact comic title, the genre AND the authors name, there was NO way for me to find them on the app! And I tried! I only could read them once the creators put links to their webtoons in their profile! I think it's a problem with smal comics. Bigger comics who had alredy been going for a while, like "Lumine" for example, where easy to find by putting their titles in the search bar. But smal comics that just started? No chance.
I've had similar experiences! It does seem like comics that have been up a bit longer tend to be easier to find, but even then it can be a challenge. Webtoons really needs to work on that search bar.
not gonna lie, I've never searched for anything on webtoons. I check out what is looks interesting to me from the main pages, the genre pages, and the canvas page.
I use Comic Fury, get most of my viewership there sometimes 2000 views a day, good interaction with comments, etc. I made the design match similar to the official manga page off my main studio site. I also like how its ratings system works. I can have it uncensored. While Webtoon is like 250 views a month max and Tapas like 40 a month. I might drop Tapas soon. It was more an experiment of which platform works the best. Both has a strict mature rating for some content elements. My genres are horror /fantasy /action /supernatural.
Yeah I can definitely see horror /fantasy /action /supernatural struggling on Tapas. That's awesome about Comicfury though! It really is just the right fit for some comics :)
As a reader, I like a lot of the features of webtoons, the vertical scrolling, the great variety of not just genres but art styles too. Too many of these platforms are manga ONLY, or like are dominated by a single genre. The fact that I don't have to pay unless I want to read ahead is nice too. Some platforms like webtoon factory, have some great comics, but are essentially locked behind a pay wall, which is good for creators, but not so fun for readers. Having said all that, I think Webtoons could be doing a LOT better to support both readers and creators instead of lining their own pockets. But with them being the top dog in the industry I dunno if we will see that change any time soon.
I know that at least one big creator (the creator of Let's Play) is publicly leaving Webtoons, so maybe that creator will move elsewhere and start a new trend for creators/readers. And maybe other creators might follow in suit, given all the drama recently. Something to keep an eye on.
I’m starting to work on making my first webcomic, and this was the video I didn’t know I needed until I watched it! Even though I don’t plan on having many animals in my comic, I think I’ll try posting it to ComicFury now that I know it exists!
I am legit just starting out. But I can already tell tapas is gonna be a grind. And with Webtoons, I thought the same thing! Like first off, I hate that it doenst notify you if you get a comment, and why can you customize! ugh. Anyway...yes. I will check out comic fury!! Thanks for the info!
This may be an old video, but I really appreciate that you made a video like this since I do plan on making a web-comic on a site where the rules aren't too strict (meaning in like blood in stuff, not gore or anything spicy or something lol) and personally I think ComicFury is an okay option for it. I'll probably upload it on tapas and other platforms too but with some censors or re-draws or something similar. Muchhh love

Hi there! I use Tapas to post two fancomic series and I'm pretty satisfied with it. You can also mod your comment seccion on it and although the scheduling tool needs to include more timezones to make it easier to use, it's simple to post your series and even more now that they've fixed their size limitations. An although I've never used Webtoons for posting and it's the first time I hear about ComicFury, I can recommend Tapas over Webtoons if you're looking for a place to post mature stories: I was reading a Twitter thread the other day about this webtoons artist who had to stop posting their comic as it contained mature themes, and in comparison, Tapas has a varied content warning system that allows you to post your stuff as long as it's properly tagged and follows the site's guidelines. Also I haven't updated my comics in ages, yet I keep getting views and new suscribers, even though I haven't even promoted them in the last time and when I do, I post them in social media to people that already know my work (which is awesome as I'm about to reach enough to start receiving support from readers on the site! :D) Still, I'm just finding out that Webtoons accepts fancomics (I thought that wasn't allowed) and you've sold me on ComicFury, so I might start posting my work on those as well. Good video.

The pokemon comics on comic fury came from people who were booted from smack jeeves back in the late 2010s when the site was going down. It wasn't always like that but you can still expect to find a lot of original series there.

I am not a big fan of the look on webtoons, because I rally want to make a comic that has this more traditional comic page look to it. Best of luck with your comic! I know that some people with page format comics just post their pages as they are on Webtoons and can do pretty well (I did this with my early chapters of my Zelda fancomic). So that is an option if you want to experiment with Webtoons eventually :)

Great question! Comicfury has no monetization system. Webtoons has several monetization options for indies, but you have to be really popular to qualify for even the basic ones (which don't pay that much per month). Tapas has one that is easier to access, but I'm not sure how much one can realistically make -- I've never gotten enough subs to have personal experience with it. As far as support, honestly subbing, liking, rating, sharing, etc. goes a really long way. The monetization systems of both Tapas & Webtoons are reliant on popularity, and in both cases, comics with lots of support (subs, likes, etc.) are more likely to keep getting more readers/getting more popular.
@@mahiramcaquila I get ad revenue on tapastic and ad revenue is not a lot. I've only made like 34 cents in the six months I've had it. I hear ink doesn't bring in a ton of money either, so guess the ease of access to these is because of the lack of actual money earned.
I'm a webtoons comic creator for about two years now and to be honest, I still have mixed feelings about the website. I love talking to the readers in the comment section, but there's usually I high chance that I would miss them since Webtoons don't have a good notification system about it. I am really tiny with only having 19 subs (I'm not complaining, I'm actually surprised that many people like my work ^^) but the ones who are subscribed contacted me to tell me that Webtoons also been lacking lately on there notifications. The rating system has been faulting since one troll had created multiple alt accounts to rate bomb my comic too..... So yeah. Fun for a hobby/passion project. Not really good if you want to go full time.
Ah yes, the lack of a notification system... my greatest bane with Webtoons! Yeah, they're just not reliable in so many ways. At this point, I feel their best function is just as an additional hosting location (especially if one's comic is getting long -- if a new reader wants to catch up, it's so easy to binge-read on Webtoons).
I've only come across tapas a few months ago and I highly agree of the domination of the genres' in it, for the romance part I find cutting out any manga based style art easy to avoid, Though that means you cut out most comics. Gl, Bl and lgbq in general, I find that there really should at least be a little "Gl", "Bl" (ect) label on the thumbnail when scrolling the genres' I've found most people don't and because they're under every genre. However if you love romance and or enjoy lgbq, it would be a good place to start for creating and or reading. I can't say much for webtoon other than the near constant scrolling I personally find annoying (I just enjoy the more classic comic layout), other than that they got a bit of everything. Comicfury, I think I might need to check it out.
I've been posting on Tapas for like...two years and only have 73 subs. I noticed how cringy romance retelling the same story over and over and OVER again dominates the website. I have an elven-dominate adventure/fantasy comic. There are anthro characters later on, but I don't feel as though I can advertise it as a "furry" comic for ComicFury. I straight up cannot post on webtoon because they don't like my file sizes? No matter what I do, it's either too big of a file, or the dimentions are too small (also really not interested in the toxicity that comes from Webtoon) So I kinda gave up on that. I feel like I'm at a loss. I draw and draw, and keep posting updates, but I'm going at a snails pace. Idk how to be seen. I have confidence in my comic, the people that DO see it and give me feedback really like it...but I almost have to manually present it to them. Where am I supposed to go? Would it be ok on Comic Fury even though it's not a furry comic? :/
First, if you haven't yet, I would check out other comments on this video, as a lot of them mention other sites than the ones mentioned in the video and have lots of great info! Second, I would personally say give Comicfury a shot because -- while furry/Pokemon comics are the *most* popular -- other types of comics can definitely still see some good success. (For example, I randomly checked their "Recently updated" page, and saw a furry comic with 50 subs, and then a non-furry fantasy comic with over 90 subs.) And if you choose to customize your comic site on there, one option is to drop hints that there will be anthro characters later, like including one in the background of the site banner or something like that, just to kind of hook in some of those readers. Just a possibility :)
My comic has alot of things that alot of comic sites censor/block/delete and I've heard that comicfury doesn't do censorship which makes it very good for my comic. My comic has mentioning of su*cide, blood, some vi*lence, dark themes, sickness, de*th, a bit of nakey skin but nothing explicit. Is comicfury okey with these things? I read it doesn't give a sh*t about censorship, I just wanna make sure I don't get into a site that is just going to delete my comic again. It's also a fancomic
Have you tried global comix. I really like it so far. Even managed to get some money out there. Very friendly and always happy to help. They don't show favoritism to certain comic theme and each week feature comic that deserve more love touching the themed that was pick that week. In 3 months I managed to get around 400k views for my comic thanks to their promoting advice.
@@mahiramcaquila great they also are working on an app, native ads and my favorite of all.. teaming up with a printing compagnie so that physical copy of ones comic can be made and purchase there all that in 2023
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't run into issues there -- BUT like I mention in the video, I have a script blocker app and I never let all the scripts run on there. So maybe that's kept the site safe to use.
@@mahiramcaquila I use NoScript on Firefox for my browing on the desktop. I stopped using Firefox with Android because updates broke it (many sites just would not load).
Given that you don't want a computer, you might want to look at different separate tablet options that link up with the Internet (such as Microsoft Surface Go). Researching different options and which ones would allow you to download and use free drawing programs (like Kritia) could be a next step. Unfortunately I don't have any other knowledge of or experience with such tablets, so I can't really say any more. Best of luck!
is there any chance that a non furry or animal webcomic could have any success on comic fury? my webcomic is just not the right fit for webtoon or tapas ans comic fury sounds amazing but it’s all humans. Is there a chance of readers?
Yes! If you check out the "Popular Now" tab on Comicfury, you'll see a mix of different types of comics, with some like Lateral ( lateral.thecomicseries.com/ ) that have a higher than average number of subscriptions for Comicfury (over 100) featuring mainly or only human characters :)
Yeah, the rainbow sh*t is annoying.. its like they're pushing creators to make those stories or forcing it down your throat as a reader. I think NomiComi right now is better to avoid the agenda
I notice I seem to get way more views and subscribers on Comicfury than I do in Tapas but I do think it's partly because I'm on the forums way more. I never used Webtoons since for some reason I didn't know about it until around the time everyone started talking crap about it. Although another one I'd reccomend is TheDuckWebcomics.
theres also a comic site i tried using called 0xmanga (now okida) and they use nfts and crypto which i dont approve of, and sketchy terms of service so i had to dip out by my 4th page now i spend all my effort in comicfury its the BEST it reminds me of old smackjeeves .
Accidentally stumbled upon Comicfury like a month ago or so and dude that site is INCREDIBLE like it works so smoothly and the fact it allows u to make a WHOLE site for your own comic and customize everything from the way you place chapters and the fonts, colors, etc. It's perfect for people who just got into making comics. My only issue with it is the interactions/ engagements being kinda low but that's probably a problem from my side and interactions might take some time to happen lol but overall pretty good site definitely recommend!! 😩🤌💜

Comicfury is super easy! Whether or not it winds up being your jam, it's pretty hassle-free to give it a shot :)

Gl, Bl and lgbq in general, I find that there really should at least be a little "Gl", "Bl" (ect) label on the thumbnail when scrolling the genres' I've found most people don't and because they're under every genre.
However if you love romance and or enjoy lgbq, it would be a good place to start for creating and or reading.
I can't say much for webtoon other than the near constant scrolling I personally find annoying (I just enjoy the more classic comic layout), other than that they got a bit of everything.

I've been posting on Tapas for like...two years and only have 73 subs. I noticed how cringy romance retelling the same story over and over and OVER again dominates the website. I have an elven-dominate adventure/fantasy comic. There are anthro characters later on, but I don't feel as though I can advertise it as a "furry" comic for ComicFury. I straight up cannot post on webtoon because they don't like my file sizes? No matter what I do, it's either too big of a file, or the dimentions are too small (also really not interested in the toxicity that comes from Webtoon) So I kinda gave up on that.
I feel like I'm at a loss. I draw and draw, and keep posting updates, but I'm going at a snails pace. Idk how to be seen. I have confidence in my comic, the people that DO see it and give me feedback really like it...but I almost have to manually present it to them. Where am I supposed to go? Would it be ok on Comic Fury even though it's not a furry comic? :/
First, if you haven't yet, I would check out other comments on this video, as a lot of them mention other sites than the ones mentioned in the video and have lots of great info!
Second, I would personally say give Comicfury a shot because -- while furry/Pokemon comics are the *most* popular -- other types of comics can definitely still see some good success. (For example, I randomly checked their "Recently updated" page, and saw a furry comic with 50 subs, and then a non-furry fantasy comic with over 90 subs.)
And if you choose to customize your comic site on there, one option is to drop hints that there will be anthro characters later, like including one in the background of the site banner or something like that, just to kind of hook in some of those readers. Just a possibility :)
My comic has alot of things that alot of comic sites censor/block/delete and I've heard that comicfury doesn't do censorship which makes it very good for my comic.
My comic has mentioning of su*cide, blood, some vi*lence, dark themes, sickness, de*th, a bit of nakey skin but nothing explicit. Is comicfury okey with these things?
I read it doesn't give a sh*t about censorship, I just wanna make sure I don't get into a site that is just going to delete my comic again.

Have you tried global comix. I really like it so far. Even managed to get some money out there. Very friendly and always happy to help. They don't show favoritism to certain comic theme and each week feature comic that deserve more love touching the themed that was pick that week. In 3 months I managed to get around 400k views for my comic thanks to their promoting advice.

@@mahiramcaquila great they also are working on an app, native ads and my favorite of all.. teaming up with a printing compagnie so that physical copy of ones comic can be made and purchase there all that in 2023

Comicfury gave me virus lol. Bitdefender was really crazy about not wanting my laptop to go there.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't run into issues there -- BUT like I mention in the video, I have a script blocker app and I never let all the scripts run on there. So maybe that's kept the site safe to use.
@@mahiramcaquila I use NoScript on Firefox for my browing on the desktop. I stopped using Firefox with Android because updates broke it (many sites just would not load).
I'm a reader on webtoons at the moment but feel like switching to tapas for that and to make comics

Given that you don't want a computer, you might want to look at different separate tablet options that link up with the Internet (such as Microsoft Surface Go). Researching different options and which ones would allow you to download and use free drawing programs (like Kritia) could be a next step. Unfortunately I don't have any other knowledge of or experience with such tablets, so I can't really say any more. Best of luck!

is there any chance that a non furry or animal webcomic could have any success on comic fury? my webcomic is just not the right fit for webtoon or tapas ans comic fury sounds amazing but it’s all humans. Is there a chance of readers?
Yes! If you check out the "Popular Now" tab on Comicfury, you'll see a mix of different types of comics, with some like Lateral ( lateral.thecomicseries.com/ ) that have a higher than average number of subscriptions for Comicfury (over 100) featuring mainly or only human characters :)
Yeah, the rainbow sh*t is annoying.. its like they're pushing creators to make those stories or forcing it down your throat as a reader. I think NomiComi right now is better to avoid the agenda
I notice I seem to get way more views and subscribers on Comicfury than I do in Tapas but I do think it's partly because I'm on the forums way more. I never used Webtoons since for some reason I didn't know about it until around the time everyone started talking crap about it. Although another one I'd reccomend is TheDuckWebcomics.
theres also a comic site i tried using called 0xmanga (now okida) and they use nfts and crypto which i dont approve of, and sketchy terms of service so i had to dip out by my 4th page now i spend all my effort in comicfury its the BEST it reminds me of old smackjeeves .

Accidentally stumbled upon Comicfury like a month ago or so and dude that site is INCREDIBLE like it works so smoothly and the fact it allows u to make a WHOLE site for your own comic and customize everything from the way you place chapters and the fonts, colors, etc. It's perfect for people who just got into making comics.
My only issue with it is the interactions/ engagements being kinda low but that's probably a problem from my side and interactions might take some time to happen lol but overall pretty good site definitely recommend!! 😩🤌💜
